Why, why, WHY would anyone take such a fine animal, such as Nunu or Bloody Mary here, & ride them on asphalt or concrete, knowing it causes them tremendous problems, even when properly & newly shoed, for “likes?” This horse deserves nothing but kindness after this, as she’s apparently *VERY* forgiving & w/ a few adjustments (proper saddle, saddle placement & tack, learning how to properly sit & ride in the saddle, NEVER taking her out on concrete & no more making her go full throttle while yelling “whoa” & simultaneously kicking her, which even toddlers playing “horsey” w/ Dad or Grandpa understands it means “go!”) I hope Bloody Mary has healed & was treated far better than this in the past 5 years. Asking here for a little education and genuine curiosity, I appreciate the responses calmly teaching me: But we live in an area with lots of Amish. They ride on the pavement all the time and the horses appear well cared for. Is there a way to safely ride on pavement? Padded shoes?
I've never experienced an area with Amish so I don't know their customs, but if the vet gives you the ok to be able to ride on pavement then its fine (also some horses have bad feet and if the horse doesn't where shoes on pavement it will where them down and can be extremely painful for the horse, its best to keep of roads when you can). Its also about the cars and all vets will recommend if you do ride near rode's, ride on quite ones.
Usually short rides (five minutes max) just walking is fine maybe a slow trot for just a bit, riding excessively or too fast can cause hurt the horse, if you want to do anything longer or faster ask your vet and farrier. They are experienced and will give you the best answer, had a horse with DSLD or dropped fetlocks vet and farrier both agreed he shouldn’t be ridden so we let his original owner take him (she was older and not able to ride him). Vets and farriers will know more than people online.
There are soooooo many things wrong with this video. 1. The horse's head is WAY too high up, can cause spine problems, and can cause a sway back 2. He is riding way to fast on concrete, which is putting too much pressure on the horses hooves, and can damage the hooves 3. He is way to far back in the saddle, which can be easily fixed, (lessons) 4. He is pulling way to far back on the reins, while kicking the horse on which is sending the horse mixed cues, which again, (lessons) I hope this helps inform people, and helps inform the rider. It is so hard to watch animals being abused by uninformed riders.
This is awful he clearly is so tired and begins to canter bc the concrete has to much strain on this horses legs and body pls pls pls don't do any gate faster then a trot on concrete and for goodness sake give this horse a break!!
The horses ribs are visible, he’s trotting it in concrete, he sucks at riding, no helmet, hard hands, unbalanced, shaky legs, ripping the horses face off, the horse is visibly in pain, you can tell by it’s ears.
I do agree he is leaning way too far back yet at some points he is leaning the correct way. I was looking carefully at his hands on the reins, he wasn't pulling that hard actually. Now riding the horse like this on the concrete in dangerous. In the end he should have leaned forward a bit more not tearing the horses mouth so much to get the animal to slow down. If you want to call the leaning abuse watch walking horse and racking horse competitions. Also watch the standardbred racing. The riders are riding in the back however the horse is going the same way. We have a racer in our town that trains is horses legally on our roads, it's interesting to watch. However he does put the correct shoes on the horses to ensure they don't slip. This horse looks like it is barefoot. When riding a gaited horse going that fast in that running walk, you need to lean back not forward. Especially if you want to gain speed, putting weight towards the front with throw you off balance and throw the horse off. This is coming from someone who owns a Tennessee Walking Horse that is trained as a jumper. (Not saying I lean back when I jumped I just learned these things when first teaching my horse to go over poles and jumps). This horse is obviously gaited, if this horse was a quarter horse (or any other non-gaited breed) then I would be worried.
Ssddlebred pacer moving on. I like single footing but not on pavement. Probably has a rubber type padded shoe with a clip that still taps the road. I dint think pavement is s good idea. Only when necessary and get back on the ground asap. Lovely Standardbred horse.

Isn't that nutter who nearly killed his horse on t motorway
No I think that was someone else. That guy was called the dreadhead cowboy and this guy doesnt have dreads so I doubt they are the same guy. But idk
O don’t get me started on that dipsh*t. Chicago’s own “Census Cowboy” & his horse, Nunu, ridden into oblivion for clicks/likes. Nunu & another of his horse(s) (yes, he has more, 3 more if I recall correctly) was taken & retired on a wonderful farm & neither can be ridden again. If not; it’s never too late for redemption, pellets, carrots, an apple or 2 & a lot of love.
@@kerryc im an equestrian in chicago and I was so disapointed to hear about the 'census cowboy' and so disappointed in the mayor. she is the one who hired him and had a contract saying that she got to ride nunu. she was paying him to go around the city and then he pulled that stunt. I was so upset with that
@@graceconnolly5765 I haven’t heard of the census cowboy, do you mind explaining?
@@lilyschronce107 basically the census cowboy was hired by lori lightfoot, although she claims not to have done it even though there is a signed contract stating that he gets paid and she gets to ride his horse, nunu, and he had to go around chicago on nunu to encourage people to fill out the census. basically he then went onto the dan ryan (freeway) and galloped nunu through traffic for a while and was chased by police and eventually nunu collapsed, her hooves were bleeding, frogs torn up and de hydrated and malnourished. now he might be getting her back smh
That guy needs lea sons on how to ride a horse right!I can imagine how much pain that horse is going threw at that time
0:53
the horse is in pain and wants to galop, how it should be
and then the 'rider' just stops the horse
and then the horse is in pain again
watching this is 2021
the path were that horse is running on
this is one of the things in this video...
abusing
He's going to road founder that horse no common sense
She's a going machine, please be careful though on the pavement. You have no traction if she should slip.
calm down karen
MuchMoreSalt, just shut up for once. They're right and actually know something about a horse's health. Unless you're gonna use your mind for once, don't use your mouth.
@@regal-5401 thank you 🙏
Much more salt, saw a horse slip on pavement and the rider was killed, not a pretty sight, I was probably 16 years old, never forgot.
@@muchmoresalt8724 they. Can be a Karen all they want when they are right, like they are! Please learn some facts before commenting.
You are killing the horse!!
Looks like he just started to ride.. Poor horses hooves
i think he was using his hands to stay on which you shouldn’t do, and also you you wear a helmet-
Next time try not holding on his mouth like you are in a bus and holding on a pole
that gait! but going too fast on pavement not cool for their joints + they can slip too easily.
Literal horse abuse. There’s so many things he’s doing wrong that’s gonna lead a life of pain for the horse
Hi as me being in the racking horse industry let me correct you people on some things,
1. Yes concrete is horrible I agree with you there and if his only place to ride is the road the he should have some boots on
2. This is what a proper work out is for horses, if your horse isn’t sweating this much by the end of your ride A. You don’t know how to workout a horse or B. You go to soft on your horse
3. About his seat if you sit straight up when your horse is fast racking/ pacing you’re gonna get launched out of the saddle leaning back is the most comfortable way to ride gaited horses, and my last thing to say is if you don’t know what’s happening then take the time to learn about it before hating
He’s not ripping the horses head off either he’s holding the horse in collect to keep the gait ;yours need to learn about what your commenting on before you open your mouths
Get him off the concrete now
Asking here for a little education and genuine curiosity, I appreciate the responses calmly teaching me:
But we live in an area with lots of Amish.
Why are you riding a horse, with shoes, so fast on a paved street?
There are soooooo many things wrong with this video.
1. The horse's head is WAY too high up, can cause spine problems, and can cause a sway back
2. He is riding way to fast on concrete, which is putting too much pressure on the horses hooves, and can damage the hooves
3. He is way to far back in the saddle, which can be easily fixed, (lessons)
4. He is pulling way to far back on the reins, while kicking the horse on which is sending the horse mixed cues, which again, (lessons)
I hope this helps inform people, and helps inform the rider. It is so hard to watch animals being abused by uninformed riders.
This is awful he clearly is so tired and begins to canter bc the concrete has to much strain on this horses legs and body pls pls pls don't do any gate faster then a trot on concrete and for goodness sake give this horse a break!!
People this is what you should never do. And this guy film himself and look proud like he is doing something impressing. Disgusting.
Omg this mare is gorgeous. My only complaint is you have her on pavement but I can tell you take good care of her. Absolutely stunning movement!
She does have horse shoes on as I can hear it. So her hooves are protected from the pavement but yes grass is better if you can go onto the grass.
This is what being late to work looked like in 1889
ostrich + horse = this video
You're a good rider, but just why on the concrete? It hurts the horses hooves, please do it on grass next time.
The horses ribs are visible, he’s trotting it in concrete, he sucks at riding, no helmet, hard hands, unbalanced, shaky legs, ripping the horses face off, the horse is visibly in pain, you can tell by it’s ears.
@@vintage.chestnut3669 have u ever rode a fuckin gaited horse ?
@@vintage.chestnut3669 he’s racking, aka singlefooting
@@colbyneff Yep.
@@colbyneff Good for him, no matter what he’s doing, it doesn’t make him a good rider, it makes him a disgrace to the horse world.
Beautiful horse!
Nice mare...would look much better under Miss Brittany!!
You shouldn’t be going on pavement that fast you can walk or slow trot but that fast?! There are holes and cracks the horse can get injured on...
Very pretty horse well trained
that horse is gonna go lame if you keep riding it like that on pavement. also she looks so skinny :( you guys dont need horses.
This is not how you ride a horse... so sad .. poor horse
do you want to sell her ?
That horse is so beautiful but dude don’t know how to ride...poor horse...
Ssddlebred pacer moving on. I like single footing but not on pavement. Probably has a rubber type padded shoe with a clip that still taps the road. I dint think pavement is s good idea. Only when necessary and get back on the ground asap. Lovely Standardbred horse.
I love the trot so beautiful like the horse!
Ngl thought it was fake at first because I couldn’t believe a person would ride a horse like that
The poor horses feet and GET OF THE ROAD!
Sonho em ter um cavalo desse .tenho um manga larga Machador preto bom de cela mais meu sonho e ter um desse aí ... parabéns.
WTF?! YOU SHOULD NOT BE RIDING AT MORE THAN A WALK ON THE CONCRETE IT DAMAGES THEIR HOOVES!! THIS DUDE IS ALSO GIVING MIXED SIGNALS- HE WAS ALSO RIDING NEXT TO CARS AND THERE WAS CLEARLY NO SIDEWALK.. THAT IS DANGEROUS FOR BOTH THE RIDER AND HORSE. AND LETS NOT LEAVE OUT THE POOR POSTURE AND HOW HARD HES PULLING ON HER MOUTH!! PSA- This is abuse and it makes me so sick just looking as this and whoever’s filming shame on them for not being educated enough to stop this or knowing damn well what was going on and not having the decency to.
I thought the horse was going to slip and fall on the wet pavement.
Soooo we’re not gonna talk about how thin she is?
Hi sir I'm Balu
How to Contact You
let the shit go canter bruh
And the horse is skinny...... congratulations
His posture is as bad as it gets
do you want to sale her ?
I wanna bloody arrest this man!!! This is WRONG!
Mate, so do I!
I understand trotting a few strides on concrete but that’s kinda the end of the limit, the amount of friction put against the horses hooves is outrageous. Please be responsible next time!
Does this guy know what the heck he is even doing. Poor horse.
This gives me anxiety. Just me?
let me begin.......
1. you look like you are gonna just slip out of that saddle.
2. look at how much did that mare sweat in 1 minute and 45 sec.
3. YOU ARE PULLING HER WHILE KICKING HER!!!!!!
4. GET OF THE CONCRETE!!!!!!!!
5. that horse obviously int comfortalbe!!!
that's all I had to say.
U saleing??
I watched this with a grimace on my face...that poor horse..
I DONT THINK HE SHOULD BE RIDING THAT HORSE A PAVEMENT. HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO RIDE OVERALL
I had one of those horses and what i am seeing is animal cruelty
Which cins horse
Y’all do realize that’s a certain style of riding? And once you work the horse enough on concrete they’ll get used to it. Also if he was holding the reins too tight she wouldn’t be going that fast he has a good grip on it to keep it even. That horse is not abused and just enjoy the video or don’t watch it at all.
This is a beautiful, strong, and fast horse. Too bad he's stuck with these idiots.
This whole thing is just abuse please get this guy banned for animal abuse, please and thank you. (That horse is also underweight.)
Looks like a smooth ride
