I would love to see a wrestler do the rib that Jim mentioned when the green guy would run the ropes in the middle of a battle royal, it sounded funny

The first battle royal I saw live was in 1982, and featured John Studd, Superstar, Super Destroyer, Buzz Sawyer, Ron Bass, Kevin Sullivan, Mr. Wrestling II, Ray Stevens, Brad Armstrong, and Michael Hayes. Studd looked like he wasn't feeling too well because he barely wrestled in the tag team match he had prior to the battle royal. When he got into the ring, he just leaned back against a corner and waved off anyone that tried to attack him. Later in the battle royal, Studd signaled Ron Bass, who came over to throw Studd out of the ring, but he wasn't going to make it look easy. Studd held onto the ropes, until all of the other wrestlers came over and helped push him out. Stevens, Bass, and Sullivan were eliminated. Wrestling II and Superstar both fell out of the ring together. Buzz Sawyer got tossed out next, but remained at ringside. When Super Destroyer whipped Brad Armstrong into the ropes, Buzz pulled the top rope down, so that Brad fell out of the ring. They began battling outside, while Michael Hayes eliminated Super Destroyer to win.

I still remember that rumor in 2012 that Jericho would enter last, but at that point EVERYONE was eliminated, so he'll just enter and win the whole thing automatically.

BomberMonkAssassin35 I couldn't stand all the people standing around right at the ringside section(and no, they weren't security)... it turns out that was the section reserved for the Saudi Royal family, so you had a bunch of RICH, priveleged assholes blocking everyone's view thru half the fucking thing... and the show was a stinker.

Pat Patterson was a icon when it came to booking a battle royal program. Pat is still at all the PPV's and has become very close with HHH now.

Pat has been retired for ages. He’s reduced to being a consultant and shares his thoughts via phone calls, but from the lack of cohesion in the product, you can tell his thoughts fall on deaf ears.

@brad 2020 Omg man. Some people lived through it, ya know. I was only a kid but everyone knows about it. Patterson took off a year in 1992 when the news broke. Most of the allegations were against Mel Philips and Terry Garvin. Where's your proof? Are you 12? Jesus christ. When there is smoke, sometimes there is fire. When there is a plethora of smoke for years that was hidden while everyone behind scenes knew, spoke about it to the point it was printed and an open secret since the late 80s... Lol. Do you also think Joey Ryan is innocent? Some people are beyond vexing

Wow!! I had no idea rumbles was this deep!
So many good idea and angles that can be used today but everyone wants heels and anti heroes... Cough!! (the WWE attitude era) or the over use of acrobatic stars to dominate modern wrestling its a shame.
Sometimes classic wrestling is best in certain situations. Sell ya tickets get good talent over and everyone is generally happy no more no less.
