You're right. You don't need all that expensive hardware. Because you are not able to spend that money on your hardware - iRacing is a mediocre sim for a hilarious amount of money. The physics are worse than in other sims. The tire model is mediocre. The netcode is bad. The graphics are outdated. The sounds are mediocre. IRacing is OK. But other sims are OK, too - and they cost 5 percent of this ridiculous money machine.
Agree with all points. iRacing you are paying for 2 things. 1. Racing against the best and 2. Laser scanned tracks. People seem to either love or hate iRacing, I'm definitely the former. And this is coming from someone who has been playing racing sims since 1997.
@@bauleycivic who says, that you're racing against the best? I'm not really sure, of that's just imagination. Rf2 has such good drivers, too. They are 10 seconds faster than me on the nordschleife. Every Lap - and I drive this track since years and I'm getting faster and faster for myself. Yes: More people are racing in iRacing. But I would say, that the fastest are not faster than the fastest in RF2. :) But you have to search for communities - that's something you don't have to do in iRacing. It's easier to drive against people that have your speed. But they are all paying that ridiculous amount of money for an average sim... But thanks for your honest opinion, mate. I just have a different one. :)
@@bauleycivic and by the way: rf2 scans all the tracks, too. But with physics, that are way better than iRacing is able to deliver. That's not just personal taste.
You could try. You’d have to order a low profile 1050 or 1650, there are videos on people having done that. The problem with those is that you have to use the Dell proprietary power supply that comes with it. After my experience with the standard power supply going on mine, I would recommend going with the full tower. Also the low profile cards aren’t cheap so you’ll be paying more for less performance.
I was going for bare bones in this video. T150/TMX are cheaper than their Logitech counterparts, generally. Once you get into the G27's price point, then you should probably start to look at the T300 which is an infinitely better wheel than anything Logitech offers.
If your setup is janky or cheap, you'll forget it & thoroughly enjoy the racing experience.

@@bauleycivic Hi, I've managed to play i racing, got out of rookies with some nice FPS with my PC (Around 95 in prac and 70 in race) and the game running smoothly. However I'am concerned by the temepratures, when I'am playong IR my PC is really hot and I don't want to break it. After a race I let my PC cooldown for 20/30 minutes. Any settings/tips that i can use to avoid hot temps ? Thanks !
@@martinm9160 hi, glad it’s working for you. Laptops run hot, that’s just what they do and it’s hard to get around that. The good news is that they are designed to. They are built to run 90-100 degree cpu temps for long periods of time. That being said, you could get a laptop cooling pad like this one to put under it while you are playing and it should run slightly cooler. But it will never run as cool as a desktop. Laptop Cooling Pad, Laptop Cooler with 6 Quiet Led Fans for 15.6-17 Inch Laptop Cooling Fan Stand, Portable Ultra Slim USB Powered Gaming Laptop Cooling Pad, Switch Control Fan Speed Function a.co/d/9R1jsyx
Is it still valid in 2024? I am searching for the same desktop. If its still valid i can buy it 😊
@@adicoolz99 no, search i5-8500 optiplex and pair it with a 3050 6gb. Same $300 price.
@@bauleycivic thank you so much for the reply. I will check this configuration :)
Saw this. Dell Optiplex 7060 SFF Desktop i5-8500 16 GB DDR4 256GB SSD. I guess this should be good. Also 3050 6gb is a bit expensive is there any other alternative?
@@adicoolz99 do not get SFF. You need a mid tower. GTX1650 will do fine, but make sure it doesn’t have an external power connector. Some do.
@@bauleycivic thank you again :)
Will this setup still run good here in 2023
I recommend vr for sim racing
VR is good, but it is more difficult to run with a cheap PC 😬
@@bauleycivic a 2060 is only 300 new or around 250 bucks or less used that's cheap and would run wit no problem
Is the pc already built when you buy it?
@@christianAlston806 yes. I would go for a newer model.
@@bauleycivic so maybe the 7060🤔

does this pc have a network card so it can be wired?
Yes
Doesn't the frame rate take a shit when you get into a multiplayer lobby though? I'd like to see what that looks like. Simply putting around on an empty track at a snails pace is nowhere near as demanding than if the CPU had to render a full field of cars.
Nope. I've won Pickup cup races on this machine and the framerate runs fine on a single 1080p monitor.
Well I'll be a sumbitch. Even with the graphics turned up??
@@AaronGoSoFast He said with a mix of med/high graphics
Will this setup run american truck simulator?
Would this setup also be able to run assetto corsa?
I cannot speak to that unfortunately.
Is this still relative in 2023?
Great video !
Thank you! Hope it helps some people!
Could this handle triple monitors?
Probably not, you’d want a newer processor and a 1660 or better for that
Is there a huge difference between the 9010 and 7010?
9020 and 7010 are basically same computer. The 7010 is preferred because you don’t need a PSU adapter cable.
@@bauleycivic thank for the fast reply I’m in the process of purchasing everything and just wanted to make sure before I pulled the trigger
Lol how about intel i7-870 with gtx 1650 With thrustmaster t150 ? How can i get better setup in sim racing ? With low budget in primary target.
It should work, it is an old CPU though. Would be worth trying if you can get it for free.
@@bauleycivic nope couldn’t find them for free haha. So pc was $50 and gpu was $60 plus t150 was 60. Thinking should i do budget upgrade new pc like i5-12400f and gpu with rx6600 will keep t150 ? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Yo
What pc Sould I get to play dirt and Forza Rison older games
But you have to search for communities - that's something you don't have to do in iRacing.
Can the mini dell 7010 be used?
You could try. You’d have to order a low profile 1050 or 1650, there are videos on people having done that.
The problem with those is that you have to use the Dell proprietary power supply that comes with it.
After my experience with the standard power supply going on mine, I would recommend going with the full tower. Also the low profile cards aren’t cheap so you’ll be paying more for less performance.

Awesome man! I really appreciate the information!! Glad I stumbled upon your content...I can't wait!!
I know this might be a dumb question, but there is a 7010 on sale but it says it's a small form factor...is that the same as a mini?
Description says DELL OptiPlex 7010 SFF Intel Core i7 3.40 GHz Quad Core 16 GB 256 GB SSD $150.00
G27???? No love? Sin....
I was going for bare bones in this video. T150/TMX are cheaper than their Logitech counterparts, generally. Once you get into the G27's price point, then you should probably start to look at the T300 which is an infinitely better wheel than anything Logitech offers.
The T150 is trash compared to the G29 , specifically the pedals
G29 is also more expensive, especially on the second hand market. If you are buying new then yes G29 is superior.
@@bauleycivic it is but it’s worth it in my opinion
Can this run beamng
how big is the tv
Mine was a 40 but you can get away with as small as a 24
These people on a budget would be better off playing acc because i doubt the true cost of iracing is in their budget.
Hey I know you!
I am not the Dustin Bauley you are looking for
100 fps but your on a 60hz tv.
More to show the PC power than visible frame rate
