Another idea is Aston Villa's story from relegation in 2015/16 to finishing 11th in top flight 2020/21. Huddersfield is also a good one to do.

Great video mate! As a DCFC supporter, this video is very hard to swallow. But, to be fair, we absolutely deserve everything that comes our way. Morris tried. But in the process, destroyed the club. He knew what he was doing and tried to cook the books. We are shit. With no one to blame but ourselves. It would not surprise me if we set the Championship record for least amount of points scored in a season. It’s a club with history. Which helps when trying to attract new owners. But, things won’t change until we hit bottom. And, we are no where near bottom.

Good club with a rich history. Always a really good atmosphere when I visited as an away fan. That said, I keep thinking back to the sympathy Derby County fans showed my team Leeds United when we were in a similar position.
Laughed at, taunted and ridiculed for the entire game. Their win that day put them into the play-off and relegated us to League One. I can still remember the ‘we’ll never play you again’ chants.
We also got same treatment at Bolton, Portsmouth amongst others.
I hope they have the same struggle we had. What goes around, comes around……..

It was ironic that when Leeds won promotion to the Premiere League, Derby away was the very next game, and the players had to give Leeds Utd a Guard of Honour, successfully complaining that the Leeds team over celebrated their promotion This is no surprise because over the years have gone out of their way in preventing Leeds having success.
When they beat Arsenal in 1972 Cup Final Leeds were on course to win the double, but the FA decided that Leeds would have to play a catch up game against Wolves the following Monday just 2 days after the Wembley triumph. No one before, or since, has had to face that problem Wolves beating a very tired Leeds
When that clever waist of space Bates declared Leeds bankrupt after suffering relegation from the Championship, Leeds were deducted 10 points. But, in doing so, The EFL deducted a further 15 points in the first season of League one with the mad man Bates still at the helm. How could anyone who cost Leeds Utd 25 points, still be owning the club
It is not only my belief but that of many others, that the EFL have wanted to punish Leeds Utd at every verse and chorus they could, why? Because their predecessors Leeds City were thrown out of the league for paying players through the trauma of WW1 When all the other clubs were quietly doing the same thing

You're giving the EFL way too much credit. Having an agenda against someone at least requires some level of competency to see it through. It isn't that the EFL have it in for teams like Derby, Wednesday, Leeds, etc - it's that they handle these clubs so incompetantly that it looks that way. If they weren't as incompetant in making and enforcing the rules as they are, these clubs would never have gotten into trouble in the first place.

Rooney will never be a good manager and after Derby no one will employ him. When will English clubs learn that just because one was a good player he will make a good manager. Look at Lampard, Keane, Trevor Francis, Gerry Francis, Stuart Paerce, Tony Adams, Gary Neville they were all given teams because of their playing careers and not because of their managerial credentials. Derby County is too big a club to start at as a manger. If Rooney or Lampard wanted somewhere to start management they should have looked at a League 2 team and try to build something there and then after being tested given and take a Championship club of the history and stature of Derby County.

You list the facts but no actual analysis of the causes of them. It begins and ends with Mel Morris who pronounced a manager wasn't playing the Derby way but could never explain what that way was. He said that promotion to the Prem wasn't an immediate aim, then promptly sacked a manager because he didn't get promotion. He promoted Rooney to player-coach within 3 weeks of Cocu starting as manager, completely undermining him. He seems to like rubbing shoulders with megastars like Redknapp, Lampard and Rooney and there were rumours he interfered with team selection. He did put money into the club, but clearly money the club could't really afford to spend as is now coming home to roost. And I don't know who was really behind the buying at the club, but most of those names were simply horrible to be reacquainted with. The only exception was Nigel Clough, who was ordered to slash the wage bill and bring in non-league, 1st & 2nd Div players which he did and was progressing on the pitch. He never should have been sacked when he was. And I can't believe Keogh won that employment tribunal, the man was a disgrace as a professional off the pitch as bad as he was a captain on it; every time we conceded a goal, he had he mad eyes at a team mate supposedly at fault when a good part of the time it was on him. I make Sean Morrison absolutely right in his video.

When you gamble with an average hand then you must fail
Is it a case of wildly optimistic dreams overtaking reality
Always felt that Derby has been underachieving but I couldn't believe that they didn't have a focussed approach
Over the last ten years Leicester have had the reality and collective approach that is needed
As always that has to start from the very top of the club

The theme running through this is spending a lot of money on average players, with a hit rate of about 1 in 4 of the players signed good enough to get Derby promoted. The exception to this of course was when Lampard was in charge when some real quality took to the pitch.

One bit everyone misses out on the Leigh case is that derby offered him a contract with reduced wages so he could get medical treatment at derby cause he only had 5 months left on his contract but he wanted the same wage and derby refused to pay a player that much when they wasn’t playing a game. We at one time a club everyone was scared to play against now we’re a team everyone wants to play against it sad but it’s so true unfortunately. I’ll be with club where ever we play but we need some clarity of Mel

As a Forest fan, much as I hate Derby, we are actually pretty similar in a lot of ways. I think that makes us hate each other more. The difference being that Forest's highs are higher, and Forest's lows are lower. We are similar to the sheep but generally even more erratic and rudderless. We seem more prone to extremes. But overall both sets of fans have a similar experience

They don't have alot of money not since they originally got relegated after building pride park. Virtually have no budget ever since they went down. Shame cause it's a club worth buying out if your a rich tycoon. It's all there ready. Just needs more long term investment.
