  • Is Doubt Keeping You Stuck With Chronic Pain and Symptoms? Can you believe enough?
"Christine, I don't know if I believe in Mind-Body conditions."
"Christine, I don't know if I believe that my condition is a mind-body condition."
I get those 2 comments a lot. The key is, can you believe enough? Can you set aside your doubt, even for 60-90 days to give these steps 100% of your commitment and dedication?
You don't have to banish all doubt to see improvement (although doubt certainly can hold you back from making progress). Even if you can believe enough, you can have less pain and fewer symptoms.
You have nothing to lose but your pain and symptoms.

I’ve watched almost all of your videos, but haven’t really seen one that essentially sketches out what one needs to do in order to take an MBS approach to solving your pain. Could you explain, or provide a video in which you layout the groundwork of the steps you feel necessary in order to accomplish this? Thank you.

Hello, You raise a good point, and I'll see about making a video that contains a general outline. There's so much to cover that it could (and has been) be made into an entire course. I've been breaking it all down into bite sized pieces.
In general, the first step is to accept the mind-body diagnosis. Understand that chronic pain and symptoms are generated in the brain, not in the body. Those are the key points. Everything else supports those core principles.
With the core understanding in place, everything else is to examine and modify our thoughts, beliefs, and actions regarding the symptoms to break the neural circuit that developed.

If you want to know the approach, read the book The Way Out by Alan Gordon or listen to his podcast titled Tell Me About Your Pain and listen from the beginning 😊

I believe that it’s possible to eliminate my symptoms through this mind body approach and have been trying my best to overcome the pain ,but whenever the pain begins in my back and down the leg I can’t get the picture of my MRI out of my head that makes me believe it’s structural. Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this? Your words are always inspiring for me😊

Hi, Here are a few suggestions you can use until you're able to put the thoughts about your MRI in the past.
      1. Can you picture a person with severe scoliosis? Someone who visibly has a spine that is curved out of typical alignment? As severe as scoliosis can appear, it's not associated with pain. The body is so adaptable that even if there are physical changes, the body adapts. Your body is just as adaptable.
      2. Instead of picturing what you were told is wrong on your MRI, can you make the image look different in your mind? In your mind's eye, correct whatever it was that was shown to you. You can picture little carpenters in there fortifying your structure. Picture it perfect.
      3. When symptoms show up, try to have no attachment. You can call them a silly name. To call symptoms a silly name can break the loop that the bain gets in. I have a video coming out soon that teaches this technique.
Thank you for being here and for your note!
