This was the most attractive batch of flicks I think I've seen you do, Josh. Usually, I feel sorry for you, having to watch abominations shot on VHS or cobbled together from unfinished footage, but in this case, they all look pretty good.
I do really like The Puppetmasters great film i still watch every couple of years , Donald Sutherland is on top form. I would like to mention Invasion . The Tv series from around 2005ish a fantastic take on bodysnatchers big shame it never got a second season
I immediately ordered the Before we Vanish blu ray, before the segment was over. You have a great record of wonderful movie recommendations. Without you I'd never have bought the Amitytiville Vibrator DVD. 😅
@@zachsmith1634Don't see the parody element in World's End though, there's nothing recognisable as parody or direct jokes referencing anything bodysnatchers other than the premise.
I saw The Faculty and The Puppetmasters. I really always enjoyed both of those movies. I saw several scenes here and there of SeedPeople. One of the others I think I might have seen, I think. Anyways thanks for the fun little list.
Man , this reminds me i have to catch up on my Kiyoshi Kurosawa , the guy is amazing , i don't think he's made a bad film , maybe they all aren't masterpieces but he's consistently excellent , has been for decades now , and he's still relatively unknown , Before we Vanish is must see soon . Also , love The Puppetmasters , it has all the hallmarks of those great sci fi ensemble films from the 90s , it's thoroughly entertaining . Assimilate was way better than i thought it was going to be , pleasant surprise
The Puppet Masters.... This was one I rented a few times and returned for not being an actual Puppet Master movie. Talk about a child's disappointment lol
Shouldn't this be called "Invaders From Mars Rip-offs," since it came out 3 years before Invasion Of The Body Snatchers? Another although not a movie is the TV series Invasion (2005), which sadly only lasted 1 season.
Wow I hadn't heard of most of these. The first is the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There? Which is what The Thing is based on. I love this trope I am not sure why. I made a crappier video on this topic with 18 movies and weirdly there is only 3 movies we both covered :P
I've never heard of Honeymoon but the plot sounds suspiciously familiar to The One I Love, a movie with Elizabeth Moss and Mark Duplass. And talking about Moss, does Jordan Peele's Us could be considered in this list?
There's a couple of these I'd like to see I have seen the faculty and most the puppet Master. I just didn't see all of it long story. Other than that yeah I'd probably check out a couple more of these.
The Faculty is really good, and I honestly root for the alien in that one. She actually makes a great argument seeing how horrible the majority of the characters are.
Roger Corman (RIP)'s It Conquered the World WANTED to be Body Snatchers, and Larry Buchanan's Zontar The Thing From Venus WANTED to be It Conquered the World. You know, that's kinda disturbing. Although I did enjoy It Conquered the World, and the MST3K riff is a lot of fun. But MST never did Zontar - the only Larry Buchanan film they ever riffed was Attack of The The Eye Creatures. Missed opportunity, actually.
@@scottneil1187 That, when you stop to think about it, Zontar is a third-level copy. And a badly-made one at that. I actually liked It Conquered the World. It did have a point to make - it didn't make it very well, but it was still there - and it came across thanks to Corman's most insane writer Charles B Griffith (uncredited). It didn't work as well as Body Snatchers, but it worked well enough. So then you try to remake THAT and prove you didn't understand the original script and cast incompetent second lights anyway? You KNOW that won't end well.

The Faculty is a classic and I liked Invasion. I can never find it on a streaming service for free so it's been on my Prime watchlist for ages.
Honorable mention: Disturbing Behavior. Eventhough that's more Stepford kids than body snatchers.
Thank you!. Was trying to remember the name of that one.

The ending of Halloween III is clearly a nod to the ending of the 1956 movie (both movies are set in the same town).
I remember watching puppet masters in the theater, lots of fun
I always thought Disturbing Behaviour (1998) was a little like Invasion of the Body Snatchers using Mind Control instead of Body duplication etc.
The World's End? Maybe more of a homage than a rip off but it's still worth a watch.
I think that would fall into parody. Cause Shaun of the Dead is a parody of zombie films.
Yeah I'd say it's a homage/parody/lampoon/tribute. A loving one, of course.
World end is underappreciated

A freak meteor shower? Isn't that always how it goes!?!

I can’t consider Puppet Masters as a knockoff, people aren’t duplicated
Fully agree, most of the films on this list don't apply for the same reason, especially the faculty.
The Puppet Masters.... This was one I rented a few times and returned for not being an actual Puppet Master movie. Talk about a child's disappointment lol
Always liked that flick about aliens replicating Mafia leaders... The Podfather.
Additional Honorable Mention: "Little Joe" So close it almost counts as a fifth remake.

Good show as always. But what genre is Santa With Muscles?
Garbage?.
Technically wilfred is jenna dog ryan dog sits mostly but I'm glad somebody recognizes wilfred extremely underrated
I’ve seen a few of these. Faculty, Honeymoon, Puppet Masters, & Assimilate. I need to find Seedpeople cause that looks like a lot of fun.
I’ve never seen a invasion of the body snatchers I didn’t like , all would be nice watch

Ok MaryBeth we see you 👀🐢
Yasmine Bleeth aka one of the many women from Baywatch 😆

I went back and rewatchef the puppet masters recently and it wasn't that good. Now the faculty is a masterpiece
Here’s an early Bodysnatchers ripoff, The Brain Eaters from 1958
The Faculty is not a ripoff of anything.
i got The Changed because i got free redbox rentals and i really didnt like it haha. i wish tony todd got better work
Does Invaders from Mars count?
The title of #1 turns into ASS M LATE.
I have seen all of these apart from pod people, but I have a burning hatred for asylum films
As you rightfully should. Never give them money or the time of day.
😱👉
The faculty probably the only movie I've seen more than 10 times at the cinema
....why??
Second why?!.
