Great video! Your garden and harvests look amazing!!! The proof is in the pudding; your methods obviously work well. I try to grow organically for the most part, but occasionally supplement with Fox Farms liquid fertilizers (which aren’t organic). I’m in agreement with you on a hybrid approach. I like that liquid fertilizers are instant, so the plants don’t have to wait for the time-release granule fertilizer to break down. Neptune’s Harvest liquid fertilizers are pretty good too! I’ve also used DaKine 420, but had to dial it back to avoid burning the plants as well as attracting pests.

😇 wonderful...let me say that you got it - the pattern. too much N is too much N of course and indeed anything including P and K, and for micronutrients like boron, even more easily overdone. but too much N is easy to do so that warning is totally warranted - with any plant. peppers can be fertilized as indeterminate tomatoes - plants that are ripening fruits even as they are shooting flower buds. that base treatment of compost etc. is very good. i'd emphasize calcium (bonemeal and eggshells) though the N, P, and K being already in the base of compost and calcium is or should be, by weight and volume, the primary vegetative or grow (vs. reproductive) nutrient (not N) so that the plant can continue reproductive growth. the drench of 15-30-15 is good as the crop changes over to reproductive stage which comes mostly within 45 days of germination. the 18-18-21 is good (though i would prefer a 15-15-30 when the plant is filling up fruit (called fruit fill, past the cell division stage). because these plants are ripening fruits even as they are shooting flower buds - the vegetative and reproductive stages are intermeshed!, i would alternate the high P(15-30-15) and high K (18-18-21) weekly, (although i must say this depends on your growing season). but again, take care of the calcium...mygreathanks and blessings

I recently found out that a study of organic grown produce in 5 areas in the US had lower nutrient levels in the food than those grown with man-made fertilizer was done by a physician with no connection to big ag. I think what is important is not using man-made pesticides and herbicides on plants. So, to get the most nutrient dense food, you have to grow it yourself using man-made fertilizers and whatever natural fertilizer you want, but no inorganic pesticides and herbicides.

Hi Matthew! Unfortunately the tomatoes ended up getting blight early so the harvest was greatly reduced. I don’t remember a notable difference between the two but will definitely have to do more testing in the future to draw any conclusions.

@@lucasgrowsbestyt oh no! So sorry to hear that! I grew Big Beef for the first time this year and it just edged to first in my garden in the 15 gallon container, 27.11lbs off the plant. In fairness, I think of it was in ground, it would have been lights out but in a pot, Rapunzel nearly managed to beat it out as a cherry. Decent plant tho and definitely will grow Big Beef or Big Beef Plus next season! Try maybe more K to help with the blight maybe?

15-30-15 and 10-10-10 should both work fine as both a veg and fruiting fert. The key thing is you DO NOT want nitrogen to be higher than phos or potassium.

Organic grown tomatoes have about 10-15% more nutrients and about double the polyphenol levels Vs synthetic grown tomatoes. There is zero point in adding manure etc if you gonna use ionic fertilizers. What's the point!? You can definitely get high yields with organic but you have to have a really healthy soil food web.
