    i bought one last year in June for my birthday, 12 months of ownership so far and 30.5k miles. great little car and nothing but on-time oil changes. if i drive like an elderly then i usually get 50+ mpg. i opted for the tech package and i'm so glad i did, it's such an attractive looking car. so far no issues 🤞 i went from a Ford Fusion (totaled) to a '22 Rio and honestly i still have as much room as i did in my previous car. still 8 seconds going 0-60, i have absolutely no complaints and haven't thought about trading it in.

    We bought a 2023 kia rio s sedan today but kept it pretty bare bones as we don't like all the bells & whistles. The value to us is in knowing if anything goes wrong, we're covered by the warranties for the most part. we are used to a strippy 2016 Chevy Sonic, so a brand new Rio to us is a huge upgrade and we have the means to pay cash for it so with proper maintenance, I can see us driving the car for 7-10 years. Hopefully anyway.

    I have the 2023 Kia Rio S and its a great little car. I average 39mpg combined highway/city. It's comfortable, great infotainment (altho sometimes it does poop out and restarts for no reason), it looks great in white (altho it gets dirty very quick), the tech is good but annoying with all the beeps (it things you will hit everything in front of you and will literally jerk you out of the lane if you have lane assist set to active. It does read road lines well, but when you have patchwork on the roads, it also thinks those are road lines and does not understand. Since it is small it does get beat to death on the highway, especially behind a semi, you just thrash all over the lane. So keep the hands on the wheel and you will be fine. The all weather floor mats are a great addition. Not a bad car if you are looking to save some money on fuel.

    It is a very nice-looking vehicle on the outside and inside for an outstanding price. I agree on the blind spot monitoring. It should have been installed on the tech package. Maybe the braking test would get better with a few miles on the car giving time for the pads and rotors to mate together better. I guess the size of the car makes you feel like an ant with elephants stomping around you. Thank you for another nice and honest review!

      Maybe blind spot detect will be avail on the 2024. But without that I dunno if I'd go for this. I'm looking at the Hyundai Venue 5 door. yeah its more bucks but it has all around LED lighting AND blind spot. Its also larger but the downside is it doesn't get the mileage of this guy... LED headlights is a must have in this day far as I'm concerned. Tough call but if you're budget minded this vehicle is tough to beat. Lets see what the 2024 has as of 10.5 its not on their website yet.

    Coming from a 2004 Buick Century, I'll be glad to have any kind of sensor or camera, and the Rio being small is wonderful. That Buick was a boat, ungodly long with a turn radius the size of a Sienna minivan. The Rio (hatchback) would be a noticeable step up.

    I love my ‘22 Rio, I couldn’t get the tech package cuz it was the last one/closest in northern Cali at the time. I’m also not really the smallest car on the road, we have a lot of 2 seater sports cars like mazda in Cali. Love the Rio!!

    I totally agree about it not having blind spot monitoring. I could care less about Lane Keep assist. I don't want the car steering for me or beeping at me. I've been driving for 45 years and have never had trouble staying in my lane but blind spot monitoring makes a LOT more sense to have. Also, the Soul and Forte both make a great choice since they have the 2.0 engine with more power and room but they can't match the Rio gas mileage, nimbleness and price.

    • @leecowell8165
      @leecowell8165 Před 8 měsíci

      I hear you all around there. Also the Soul for 2024 only has LED headlights avail in the GT trim I mean WTF is Kia thinking? Yeah who needs lane keeping a 10yo? the 2024 Rio isn't on their website yet. I'd want the hatchback as well.

    Yeah, I wish they would’ve put the side mirror for with the blinker thing on it. I am blind assistance that you said I have a 2023 push start key a real ass. What’s the technology pack that’s only thing I miss on it it should’ve had that with the blinker thing for the Blindspot in my opinion, but it is a good car I don’t regret buying it.

    I found it interesting how the tech package in the Rio is over 1,800 but for the forte its like only 550 and slightly larger displacment and size. And yeah the blind spot leaving it out doesn't make sense. The lack of power is my only possible caveat. I like how its a NA engine because I keep hearing negative things regarding these small displacement engines with turbo's slapped on them.

    I added the small round blind spot mirrors in the outside of my mirrors on my '23 Rio to compensate for the lack of blind spot technology. I love my Rio. The ride is better than I expected for a small car. The handling is better than I anticipated. The performance is decent, but I'm not racing, so it works fine for me. I drive highway and city combined and get 45+ mpg. I love that number. The technology package is worth the money. I would rather have a top shelf Rio than a stripped down Forte...

    Metallic red in 5 years in Florida will be shot unless that vehicle is garaged. The only color you want here is WHITE. I would get the 5 door though. One disappointment is that blind spot detect is NOT available on this vehicle. But for the 5G difference in price between this and the Hyundai Venue I'd probably take it. This also gets a LOT better mileage as that vehicle only gets 33 on the highway while this guy gets 40+ and with the price of fuel today that can make a huge difference.

    In the process of trading a 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for a 2023 Rio S with tech package. The Mitsu has hesitation and a horrific blind spot- another car that should have a BSM standard. With all the glass and being a sedan, I may not really need any blind spot monitors in the Rio. They would add another layer of safety if they were included. Just a heads up that 2023 seems to be it for a great little inexpensive loaded Rio as it won't be imported for 2024. The K3 may be the replacement so we will have to see at what price point that comes in at. Looking forward to dependability, great mileage and a good looking safe car for many years to come. Thank you for a great review. Thank you, KIA.

    I am a happy owner of a 2023 Rio S with the technology package and very satisfied so far with its performance, I am an older guy already retired and don't run much so for me is more than enough,smooth ride and best of all, very economic on gas milage,mine is making 38 to 40 mpg in the city and 45 to 47 mpg on the highway keeping 45 mph within the city and no more than 70 mph in the highway. Road noisy is not so loud for my ears and for my obese body is plenty of room inside. Even CVT transmission behaves very well, I rather use the manual shifting to keep RPM lower and save more gas.
    I have not gone yet for the first maintenance, its so far almost 3000 miles.I have a doubt, dealer that sold me this Rio said first oil change should be at 10K miles but when I read the manual that came in it, it says 5K miles,so who is right,the dealer or the factory ?

It’s a nice car but most people that come buy this car are lower income and either have no credit or bad credit. So many people come and buy this car and sign a contract with 20 plus percent interest rate for 7 years not realizing that by the time they finish paying off there 7 year loan they will end up paying between $30,000-,$35,000 in total for a car that will only be worth around $8-9,000 after 7 years
