top 3 fav albums of all time for me 💖
@@undyingdefect same here it's just so good

I've always loved Bjork's Post album cover. it's just so colorful and the outfit she's wearing is iconic! homogenic is good too👍
the logo art bjork was using for her Post era was beautiful
I mean vespertine looks prisitine too
Im sorry but what is this new CZcams UI for commenting on the app?!?
Honestly all of bjorks covers are phenomenal, she clearly puts so much thought into each of them
ngl homogenic is my favorite album cover of all time
Surprised none of the Tame Impala covers made it here, every single one is so beautiful and they all match the music perfectly
Idk, I really don’t like The Slow Rush’s cover (or the album, really), but 100% agree on Currents and Innerspeaker
@@MrFuzzymonkeys the slow rush's album art is the best part about the slow rush imo. weirdly enough, despite its iconic status, I think lonerism's artwork is the weakest, and it's still great. just goes to show that tame has brilliant album art across the board
completely agree
i swear brad and most of his community just forget tame impala exists half of the time
isnt lonerism kinda boring though?

no problem guys, happy to help!
White album by The Beatles. So original and unique 😍😍
Damn I wonder what it looks like
@@fallenangel2060 top tier
It actually was a very original, unique and different cover at the time. That was the whole point of it.
Who else had “Brad shitting on muse” on their bingo card for this video?
Me, and as soon as ID came up, them too. And of course the opposite for Radiohead
@@iliketrains3495 yeah cuz RaDIoheAd iS ArT AnD MuSE suCk

I fourth this
I have never seen the Absolution cover with writing on it. Normally it is just the shadows and the guys. Even the alternate covers don’t have text. I’m pretty sure that the logo was just slapped on for marketing it online.
Yeah, I’ve never seen it with the writing either but eh, I got my soul taken and had a good laugh haha.
true
Tyler, the Creator's Flower Boy cover is amazing. It literally got me into hip-hop, and just into albums in general. It's the main appeal that got me to listen to the album (besides knowing some of Tyler's music beforehand) despite not listening to many albums before it. I first listened to it on a school trip when I was 15 and it blew my mind away. I never even considered that music can be packaged in that way, have themes, a storyline and transitions, and it all changed thanks to one bastard with a hat, standing in an open field, surrounded by flowers and bees with a McLaren.
My favorite album of all time and the cover art is a huge part of it. I visualize it every time I'm listening to it. It's also it's 5th birthday today!!
@@michaelmondillo5149 Oh shit! I didn't know that. Happy birthday to one of my favorite albums of all time!!! (although considering my timezone and me writing this at 3AM it's a bit too late for that).
Seriously, it was my favorite album for a long ass time. The first thing that made me realize the full potential of music. It's still currently in my top 3 and one of the only albums I'll give an above 9 score to
plastic beach is my favorite album of all time, seeing on this list and being praised so much made me smile. Also nice to see Vinny Vinesauce's album on here if not just for the art
Facts
I’m not through the video yet… ARE YOU TROLLING?
Is Jerma’s proto-prog-byeah-core album on here too?
there’s no way u called early muse “car commercial garbage” maybe their new stuff but definitely not their early work man
Finally a Radiohead fan around here who actually defends Muse
@@iliketrains3495 Radiohead fans when they hear any singer doing falsetto( they are ripping off Thom Yorke)
haha both bands are amazing and although i prefer radiohead, muse had some of the most interesting rock/alternative music in the 2000s and i still think muse gives better live performances than radiohead
@@Salad531 Thom Yorke INVENTED falsetto after stepping on a lego what r u talking ab sheesh
Honestly if you like Muse you're better off not clicking on any CZcams reviewer video lmao, they're like a hive mind in that regard.
That personal rating when the transitions pop up is amazing! Now I can actually form my own opinion!
Thanks Bradley :)
Red Vox definitely deserves a spin, they have really amazing tracks specially in Another Light and Visions.
Ya they got a better rating on sputnikmusic.
Realign is definitely the weakest in their discography imo 😭 it's still an amazing album regardless but yeah
@@filedeletefelix To me, their weakest is What Could Go Wrong, good album but I think it falls compared to the rest
@@TM__1566 Skill-wise, definitely. Mixing isn't that great in some parts of the songs and there's a alot of repitition (especially in Telephone), still an iconic album though.
I'm still not over how haha funny pizza binyot man is part of a band thats such a hidden treasure
Pink Floyd's has one of the best Album Cover rollouts I can think off. Animals is a real photo they actually tried to float a gigantic Pig over the factory on UK. It actually helped them Marketing wise since they're last 2 Albums are probably considered their best. So there's hyped.
Love most Pink Floyd covers but after finding out Meddle’s was just a closeup of an ear it kinda ruined it for me. Echoes is still an amazing song though
@@sanderaser8886 wdym. Meddle is before dark side of the moon. Are you talking about Meddle as their last prog rock album?
Funnily enough, the pig actually broke off one day while they were shooting and it flew over Heathrow Airport!
Later that day, a farmer called in pissed off and saying that it was scaring his cows. The pig was surprisingly unharmed btw
Also the final cover had the pig edited in since the earlier photos looked good enough to them.
10:30 to be fair. That cover you have of Absolution is the horrid Amazon version and completely wrong. All the main issues I’ve seen are just the picture and no text. Kinda unfair, I think it’s good album art
Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock by Talk Talk are both perfect album covers and fit the music absolutely perfectly, i love how claustrophic SOE looks and by contrast how empty and spacious Laughing Stock is which kind of reflects the different music on the albums, but if i had to pick a favourite of the two it would probably by Laughing Stock
the hole album cover is sooo good and iconic what the hell
it’s amazing and I love that album so much
In my opinion, Gorillaz Plastic Beach is the greatest one. It sounds like the music so well, and the day and night cycles reflect the changing moods of the album.
ngl gorillaz has some of the most recognizable album covers, but plastic beach is just pure eye candy
It's fantastic but my pcik would probably be either the get to heaven cover or the death consciousness one.
GTH cover is great as well
cringe
This, Kid A, and Titanic Rising are the best out of all of these, tbh.
Edit: The Glow, Pt. 2 as well.
I love how Bright Green Field by Squid's album cover is basically the inverse of Porter Robinson's Nurture, where instead of sinking into the grass, the figure appears to be protruding from it.
Muse is a car commercial garbage?
Like bruh, for real?
I agree their recent stuff sucks generally, but their first 3 albums were fantastic.
One of the best works of 2000’s
Not fantastic but decent
I love when Brad takes souls idk why but I just find it so funny
I believe American Football's self titled album art is another great example of the art matching the music. The lonely and austere house and the bleak and dark sky really emphasizes the melancholy of the music.
I agree, it's super iconic, and the people that own the house currently get a lot of pictures taken of their house xD
KoRn - Issues
The album cover was actually made by a fan and it really shows how much KoRn's music meant to him. The roughed up rag doll tossed in the corner of the orange room looks eerie and creepy, but there is also a deep sadness in it's single button eye. Whenever I look at this album cover, I can't stare away from it, it just grips me.
Follow the Leader and Self Titled have great album covers as well. The girl playing the hopscotch game that almost falls into the abyss is a pretty iconic image and the music video for "freak on a leash" turned it into a pretty awesome short. The dessaturated picture of the girl on the swing next to that ominous shadow of a very tall man brings out the creepiness in your own mind. Like, it could literally just be a father with his daughter or an uncle with his niece, but your mind automatically goes to something dark and creepy. Fun fact: the girl in the album cover (who's a grown woman now) said the guy was actually really nice cause the blocked the sun from her
Sophie's Oil of Every Pearl's Un-insides perfectly matches the synthetic, absurd and candy coated music within. Also her waterslide EPs were excellent.
I absolutely adore all of SOPHIE's covers, I love that synthetic 3D render feel so much
@@exist4046 that cover is absolutely FLAWELSS, it's just perfect
Hounds of Love by Kate Bush and Hejira by Joni Mitchell feature some really cool album artwork imo!
Bowery Electric- Beat is another great one. The cover itself is a pretty early example of the whole ‘liminal space’ thing, and the music fits it perfectly. The dark droniness matches the faded photo so well, it’s one of those album covers that looks exactly like the album sounds. It’s rusty triphop, you’ll get what I mean when you hear “Empty Words”.
such a brilliant album!
Brad needs to listen to Geogaddi in full, that album cover fits the demonicesque (so much so that it god BoC frequently accused of peddling Satanism in their music) aesthetic of that album PERFECTLY. My favorite little detail is that the way it's layered makes the trees between the bodies look like they have demonic one eyed toothy faces in them. It's so good. MHTRTC is great, but I'll always stan Geogaddi.
Great album
I'm with Brad. I like the cover for Music Has The Right To Children a little better.
I made the mistake of starting with Geogaddi
Freaked me the fuck out but now I love it!
Unpopular opinion, but Campfire Headphase is honestly my favorite of theirs (with Tomorrow's Harvest in second). The inclusion of acoustic guitar enhances the overall aesthetic of the album, and Dayvan Cowboy will always give me goosebumps.
Oil Of Every Pearls Un-Insides is easily one of my favorite albums of all time and the cover is no different. The dreamy landscape as well as Sophie's pose, expression, and her seemingly mismatched outfit perfectly shows off the dreamy and industrial sounds the album has to offer.
WE NEED A REALIGN REVIEW WE DON’T CARE IF ITS NEGATIVE WE JUST NEED THE REVIEW!
i agree please brad
For me, my favorite album cover of all time is the Fleet Foxes’ first album… Fleet Foxes. It’s incorporation of Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s “Netherlandish Proverbs” is superb. The color scheme and the scene of a living small town in the renaissance perfectly captures the rustic and folksy sound of the Fleet Foxes. I can’t think of a better pairing.
I think the music on the album is better than the album cover and that’s saying something
ok your reaction to the Stereolab one was hilarious lmao. Dots & Loops is my favorite of their albums though I think "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" and "Chemical Chords" have more interesting-looking album covers imo
Damn, Im surprised no one mentioned Leviathan- Mastodon. The art is really cool and of course tells you exactly the album is about; the WHITE WHALE
SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER
WHEN YOU SEE THE WHITE WHALE
22:51 I'm so happy someone chose Realign cause I would have chose the exact same album for the same reason!
too bad he instantly assumed it was bad because of the score lol
@@tadict I know :/ I love red vox but I can see how it might not be for everyone (especially since their sound changes so much) and I don't know how brad would have reacted. Still glad they got recognition tho!
No problem!
honourable mention to Hozier's album Wasteland, Baby - the cover is a painting by his mother and it's so stunning
13 is my favourite album cover (and my favourite album in general), it’s just so eerie and understated and perfectly captures the albums sound. Great to see some love for it.
Hey What by Low is so simplistic, but the texture fits the music so well. The music drones and makes you look for more, just as the album cover is so simple that you find differences in light/dark and the more you look, plus the curving lines add some interest. Great album, with a great cover.
To me, Goldfrapp's "Felt Mountain" album cover is just gorgeous and it encapsulates the music perfectly.
Great shout. It looks kind of dated but it works
My wife and I love Boards of Canada so much, we got a Geogaddi cake for our wedding. There's pics of it on Reddit. Also shout out to Red Vox, Binyot is great performer.
Glass Beach's debut album art is absolutely gorgeous, so simple but it captures such a unique mood and vibe. It's fantastic.
i have it on my wall :)
I absolutely love the american football cover, it’s such a good photo with the lush green, perfectly representing the music and the absolutely iconic and unique typography
Hey Brad I found your channel several days ago and I love you and your content! Always funny, thoughtful and perceptive. Hope you’re doing well.
I've always loved the album cover to Issues by Korn. I remember seeing the image a lot long before I heard the album or even knew who Korn were, so when I think of Korn, the tattered ragdoll is one of the first images that pops in my head. I know the girl on the swings from the s/t debut or the kids on the cliff from Follow The Leader are probably more iconic and while I love those album covers too, the Issues one is also a good visual representation of the themes of despair, hurt, and abuse common throughout both the album and the rest of Korn's discography. Plus the color scheme, which is mostly orange and yellow, has always given me a fall/Halloween vibe, which I think fits the album well. Also it's just pretty cool to look at.
An extra little piece of info on the Geogaddi album artwork - It is the inverse visual to the song "Turquoise Hexagon Sun" off of MHtRtC.
Geogaddi is to me atmospherically the complete flipside of it MHtRtC since it has themes of the satanism and the occult, and that little connection helps seal it.
Also; I have the actual PSD for the death's dynamic shroud album cover lol
one of my favourite album covers has to he “Swimming” by Mac Miller. the simplistic design of Mac in a all white room, wearing a pink suit by an open door and a window looking out the ocean he was once drowning in. it’s beautiful to me and by far one of the best album covers i’ve seen
GRADUATION BETTER BE HERE!
Edit: I was actually watching one of your videos when I got the notification, lol
I remember watching MTV so many years ago doing a countdown of their top album covers of the year and Zonoscope by Cut Copy was #1. I found the CD at a second hand record store at some point later and really liked it so I bought it even though I had never heard any songs. Ended up really enjoying the album and drove to it all the time
Trying to process how kick iii/ii by Arca wasn’t here… by far the most impressive art album cover I’ve ever seen
Shit looks like NFTs
Thank you for the Geogaddi and Music Has The Right To Children mentions, two of my all-time favourite albums ever
46:58 idk what it is about this specific vaporwave album but i just love (almost) everything about it. "That big ol smile of yours" just forces me to ascend and stay elevated throughout most of the tracklist.
Bell Witch's mirror Reaper is amazing as well. It's so ghostly and ethereal and matches the droning sense of dread you get from the music
Said the same thing
i always think of the black parade’s alt cover when i think of my favorite album covers.
the original and official cover is amazing just in its simplistic and incredibly iconic form, but there’s something about the detailed rendering and dark, almost confusing imagery that really makes it feel like the album you’re listening to. the fact that on the vinyl, it spreads across onto the back, each character and symbol representing the songs in order. the art style is so hauntingly beautiful, and the color palette makes me feel that dingy, almost irradiated atmosphere that the album often reminds me of.
if you haven’t seen the cover, i highly recommend you check it out, it’s definitely worth the bit of eye strain it induces.
Honestly MCR album covers are just always great, except for maybe Danger Days. But Bullets, Three Cheers, and Black Parade all have amazing covers. i could be biased because they are my favourite band but i think they’ve made some amazing covers.
@@quackquackx i think danger days is definitely their weakest entry, but definitely not bad. i wish i played more into the campy 80s aesthetic, maybe if they even had becky cloonan do the cover or used her artwork that she made for the comic as the cover
@@rockfriendmemo oh yeah that would’ve been cool. danger days is my least favourite album even just with the songs inside and i’m not sure if that’s a hot take but i always found every aspect of it to be weaker than any other album they’ve ever made, so maybe i just have a negative bias about it’s cover. for me the best album cover has to be Three Cheers and as for a favourite album in general i’ve always been torn between Bullets and Three Cheers because they’re just both so amazing …
Titanic Rising in the thumbnail will always make me click
Also love that you're taking about King Gizzard, Sweet Trip & Animal Collective 💖
I'm so mad at myself for missing this- Ask The Dust by Lorn is such a fitting selection for this topic, and absolutely nails the haunting feeling of the album. Lorn is just... something else. It's insane to me how long he's been doing such amazing work with such consistency, and makes some of the best atmospheric spine-chilling music on the face of the earth.
I'll always love the looks of the album arts for Katatonia's "The Great Cold Distance", and "The Fall of Hearts". The colours combined with the images give some feeling of regret and sorrow which I find is commonplace in their music.
One I wanted to throw out there is Lucius' Good Grief - the emptiness of the cover so perfectly works with many of the tracks, especially the opening and closing which feel so isolated. Also, great use of color with the blue jumpsuit and subtle pink text.
The Frances album cover photo is genuinely a masterpiece of photography, the composition is amazing. The subjects with red hoods are striking and catch your eye immediately, but the more you look into it the more sensory the photo becomes - the velvet of the hoods, the suits the main subject is wearing, the soft grasping of the leather steering wheel, the steely old-car interior and its console, I just love how it looks man, okay…
Never have I seen content as bipolar this this mans videos.
I think Deftones's White Pony deserves a mention, its just simple and iconic for 2000s heavy metal and whenever I listen to the heavier songs off of it like Elite or Korea I just imagine the pony sprinting to the song.
There should be a 'worst music video' video
My dude didn't choose the right Muse album cover. Origin of Symmetry XX Anniversary Remix album cover is one of the best looking album covers I've seen.
I'd personally say that either The Prodigy's Music for the Jilted Generation or The Fat of The Land (both the standard and alternate) are both great covers that fit the music. Also Leftfield's Rhythm and Stealth is just a great image on it's own, even without the banger of an album to go with it.
i have to share sum of my fav album covers as of late cuz i never stfu so here we go !
1. none so vile by cryptopsy - i just love how bleak and raw the cover feels, it looks pretty different from a lot of other death metal covers while still feeling gruesome and provocative(?). i also feel like it really reflects the heaviness and rawness of the album itself too :3
2. miss machine by the dillinger escape plan - i love a lot of tdep album covers but this one has been a fav of mine for a long time. i love how abstract and offputting it is; i think it really works well with the sound of the music. also i feel like people dont really make this kind of trippy, uncanny art anymore without the use of ai which makes me appreciate it that much more
3. impenetrable cerebral fortress by gulch - i absolutely adore the painted style of this cover and the abstract concept it portrays. the way its executed is honestly perfect imo (much like the music on the album. i love gulch
weyes blood’s titanic rising is just beautiful - the cover art as well as the album itself
I beg you actually listen to some more early muse before they were doing car commercial music. I genuinely think it’s great. Origin of symmetry and absolution are my two favourites
Completely agreed
Yeah he has no idea what he’s talking about with Muse, he fits the Muse-hating Radiohead fan stereotype to a tee
@@iliketrains3495 You know what sucks? There's a long lost (2017 I think, since he referenced the album on a Radiohead re-reaction video) reaction of OOS album. It's lost media sadly. But someone requested Space Dementia on stream and Bradley jammed hard tho.
Also he liked Feeling Good. There you go, 2/11 of OOS. The rest is on area 51
@@fallenangel2060 Yoooo he reacted to Space Dementia? That‘s easily in my top 5 Muse songs; glad he was able to jam out to it!
early Muse is genuinely fantastic, I wish he'd give them more credit instead of shitting on them every time they come up like they've always been bad
The cover for unknown pleasures by joy division was actually inspired by pulsar cp 1919- the first radio pulsar detected which was at one point thought to have been created by extraterrestrial beings.
The Seer by Swans. It doesn't matter how many times you watch the cover, it's always as striking and forbidding as the first time you see it. And of course, it perfectly matches the dark, violent and chaotic nature of Swans music.
I think the Hu's 'Wolf Totem' might blow your mind. Especially if you ever do a best foreign band video. Cos, like they're from Mongolia, so throat singing , but rock. Badass.
So so glad to see Orbital In Sides here what an amaazzzing album
I WAS NOT EXPECTING RED VOX HERE
LIVE THROUGH THIS REPRESENTATION WE LOVE TO SEE IT
WTF HOW DARE YOU SAY ITS BAD
I love super busy covers with a lot of tiny details, especially dookie/ insomniac by green day
When I think a great album cover, I think Screamadelica made by Primal Scream. The trippy and bold colours fits so fantastic except for one song (Damaged) and the album is a huge genre-bending pot of gold, plus, it helped EDM music to hit mainstream heights as it is now these days.
Brad really takes on the cadence of fantano when he talks positively about music
I'm in complete awe of Homogenic's cover. Its so icy cold yet comforting. That weird stare she has makes it feel like she's consuming you somehow. Alexander McQueen did a phenomenal job on that cover.
While not an album i listen to often, Atrocity Exhibition takes the cake for my favorite album cover. Firstly, it fits the title perfectly. I see it as a digitally distorted picture of a dead person. Secondly, the album battles such intense and severe topics, and that absolute dread is so well reflected on the cover
The recent Injury Reserve album’s cover is so cool. I am an absolute fan.
I think Undertow by TOOL has a great album cover. the dark and ominous look really fits the sound of the album. plus, the sculpture was made by the band's guitarist, Adam Jones.
Really loving these topic videos honestly. They are quite long, yet the entertaining content within the video makes it go by so fast. As for this video specifically, though, I can't really understand your total intolerance towards Hawaii: Part II. I understand you disliking, even hating, the album, but questioning anyone seeing any value in the album whatsoever is a bit much if I'm being honest. It's whatever, though, still a solid video, keep up the good work!
Oof I didn’t realize it came off like that. I’m sorry. I love being harsh towards the project but I never meant to have that bleed into people who enjoy it.
@@BradTasteInMusicOfficial It's fine, Brad. Sure, it was a bit excessive, but I'm sure everyone can realize you didn't mean any harm by it. I appreciate you recognizing it and apologizing though, it really shows your transparency as a content creator, which everyone should strive to have I believe.
my favourite album cover is surfing the void by klaxons, the musics surreal and out of this world feel is perfectly matched by its cover imho
Omg astronaut kitty :)
i think myths of the near future has a better album cover, but that's also a good one
tbf ratm self titled cover goes hard because its probably one of the greatest protest pictures ever.
I think it would be great if you reviewed Red Vox.
I would say they are very underrated and have some amazing songs that are very personal and speak to you.(although that part may be bias on my part) I always thought they sounded like Nirvana and Pink Floyd mixed together with a little bit of David Bowie sprinkled on top. They're albums are pretty distinct from one another but they all sound amazing to me.
Even if your review is negative of them just talking about them would be amazing to watch. To see what people that may not be fans of them think and what you have to say about Red Vox.
19:45 "how does he get up there exactly" Literally just a few days after this video, Imagine Dragons announce a 10th anniversary edition of Night Visions and it shows the other side of the pillars, and there turns out to be stairs there.
Lateralus by TOOL
It’s so different and perfectly incapsulating TOOL’s image, motifs and vibes.
When I think of TOOL it’s this image.
The glow pt 2 is cool because I believe it was just a picture Phil had from an old Danish cookbook...totally random and just happens to be one of the most iconic indie rock album covers ever
This video such a banger, introduced my to Bjonk
I always imagined raidohead sitting on the top of those mountains in Kid A cover, watching the world end and playing the songs as events happen.
Ah now I'm sad I've only started watching you recently! I would've loved to offer up Ahn Ye Eun's cover for her "Ratvolution" single. The rats making up her hair and face shape up the creep factor while the effects on her face represent the techy/synth sound of the song nicely (and the text isn't overbearingly large, which is a plus imo).
the monk that set himself on fire for ratm is a picture from the vietnam war, it’s honestly an insane picture, he just sat there meditating while burning
Should’ve been in here, but Hi, How Are You? by Daniel Johnston is one of the most iconic underground album covers of all time. It’s so beautiful in it’s simplicity and comes from the same creative space that the music takes place in, and I think you could say this about a lot of his covers.
yknow it's funny, i heard that nice piano coming in during the outro of the video and i though "oh this is nice, brad's put some outro music at the end of the video, how sweet"...
...only to be reminded of those whose freedom was not free
Andy Stott's Faith in Strangers is a great reflection of the expansive, brutal, primitive, and industrial sounds. There is something beautiful in the soft curtain separating the city and the seemingly ancient sculpture.
I'm so surprised Loveless didn't make this vid
imma need the suns tirade and faces on here, also punisher is fire but it looks like that one big sean album i forgot what it’s called
Dark side of the moon is the most iconic cover of all time.
How is it not here?
The only one or two I wish ended up on here were, GZA - Liquid Swordz and MF DOOM - mmm...food. Both have a really unique art style and the GZA one is hard af. Good video bradley 👌
Toe - the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety. Fits the solitary atmosphere of the album brilliantly
One of my top album covers is mezzanine by massive attack :D
It’s one of those album covers that make the songs on the album sound better simply because of the cover
I wasn't very detailed at all when I recommended THREAD by Red Sun Rising. But the album came out in the spring, and despite it being one of the grungiest rock albums in recent history, had a very refreshing and life-like sound. It's colorful, handrawn and painted, with lots of interesting artifacts. They even put the album art in motion on CZcams.
I do recommend if you ever do a part two, you take a look at it... maybe with El Lazo, Stealing Life, and Fascination for reference.
I'm surprised that no one brought up LYSFLATH by Godspeed! You Black Emperor on this one. Fantastic and iconic album art for one of my favorite albums of all time.
honestly one of the worse Godspeed covers lol
