OHH MY GOOOD, THANKK YOOOO SOOOOO MUCH, you wont believe me how LONG I have been trying to solve this problem, you literally saved my life, I had a project which I almost quit because of this issue, again, thank you soo much
Thank you very much. I actually had a problem in exporting a skeleton mesh from blender to unreal engine 4 , and this video was very helpful. sometimes you don't need a special video to learn how to do stuff the basics are the only important things.
Hey, really like the add-on! I already used it in one of my animations. I have just one question/request.. you mentioned (in the 1st video I think) that RigaCar can be used for drifting, and I'll be making an animation of a car drifting. Could you maybe do a tutorial just on that (to properly animate drifting, in the most realistic way possible)? I hope you can do it. Either way, thanks for making this add-on.
Actually, I haven't used the drifting a lot. Sometime I even used it to counter animate a car along a path... something I should be ashamed of :D When I used it, it was only for subtle effect. For instance, if you look closely in part 4, I had slightly animated the drift to emphasize the skid at the end. I don't know if I am the proper guy to do a video about how to animate drifting, but I will consider your idea. Thanks
@@vliedtke Really appreciate your feedback. I am really like to take a look at your self made rig. I think I see what you talk about the drift animation but if you can provide some examples it would be great. I suspect for a long time the drift bone can be improved... About the speed graph, you are right, creating animation is a real pain when you want to be sure your model will be at a given position at a given frame. I tried to imagine some tools to help animators but I didn't find something really convincing. If you have a clear vision and if you can share some sketch or mockup, it will help a lot.
Hi, Love your tutorials. I have a question though. Is it possible to have the 'suspension' bone follow a path constraint too? (the gismo on the roof of the car) For some reason I can't get this to work. I would use it to kind of muffle the suspension when driving off-road. The tires would stick to the ground, while the body is moving more natural up and down. It would make it easier to use a Nurbspath to 'animate' the suspension of the car (the movement of the body of the car) while driving whith high speed on uneven terrain. Tnx in advance 🙂
Hello sir, It's the best tutorial on car rigging, never has any other tutorial been this detailed. Forgive my English if it sounds broken. I have a doubt; it would be really relieving if my curiousity is cured: The Doubt: In first tutorial you said that the car must be aligned properly; like its midpoint be at exact centre, wheels be exactly above the surface line...so would it be possible to rig more than one car in the same viewport without them overlapping each other (more like side-by-side); by using rigacar addon? and if not right now, then is it possible that that could be possible in future?
Use collections to have more than one model in the same file and toggle the visibility. I haven't tested thoroughly the add-on when the model is not positioned at the center of the scene. It could work. Generally, it is a good habit to create each model in separate files, rig them and link them in the final scene.
Finished watching it. Thanks for the free add-on. But can you update it for Blender 2.81. It works in adding the car rig but it is not working when baking the car steering and wheel rotation. Thanks in advance.
Hi, I have used your awesome addon and I followed your step to bake animation for export. However when I export in alembic, all the bones and therefore animation are gone! There is just an empty "Car_Rig"...What can I do?
Salut, super vidéo qui m'a beaucoup aidé . Tu devrais faire des tutos en Français car en Anglais il y en a plein mais il y en a pas beaucoup en français.
Merci Dark-man.
Rigacar is designed for animation. If you want to create a fixed animation in Unity, then follow the instruction in this video to bake the animation and simplify the rig and export the scene. If you need a rig to create simulation (for instance if you want the player to control the car) then Rigacar is probably not what you are looking for.
@@digicreatures1945 i did this. i have the simplified mesh but then when i export to alembic and import it in houdini i get it stuck at the first frame. No animation
you already can! All you have to do is to download the addon from dev branch compatible version with 2.8: github.com/digicreatures/rigacar/archive/blender28.zip WARNING: currently, there is a bug in blender 2.8 which prevents the ground sensors to work properly (limit distance constraint is broken in 2.8). Since 2.8 is now in beta, I have opened a bug report for this issue. As soon at it will be fixed, I will make an official release for blender 2.8.
Mmm! You're right. There is an issue when the name of the directory contains a dot (really strange). I have renamed the dev branch do blender28. Hello! How to make wheel camber in Blender 4.1 using Rigacar 7.1?

This is awesome. Can i make the car stop and reverse?
You have to animate the path of the car. But yes Rigacar will animate wheels and steering for both directions.
I tried with your riged bmw with but it is not showing motion tracking option
motion tracking is a completely different topic. Rigacar is just an addon to generate rig and provides additional features for animation.
