At least 350 koalas are feared killed as bush fires continue to burn in the eastern part of Australia. As of November 19, 2019, the fires had also taken at least four human lives, and torched about 1 million hectares (2.5 million acres) of farmland and bush in New South Wales and Queensland. More than 300 homes have been destroyed by the fires, which are also blamed for heavy smog in nearby cities including Sydney.

The 53 people charged with arson are not risking their lives to save animals who are injured.

@@parkur455 Maybe you haven't been following the news of the recent Aust. fires closely, but reportedly they think that many of them have been set by arsonists... almost unbelievable people can be so cruel. Hopefully this video--which seems to have become the outstanding meme of this disaster--will help more of them--& all of us whose lifestyles have contributed to global climate change & thus the vulnerability of such natural wildlife areas to drought & fire--to ponder & change our ways.

She’s a true parent. Whatever it takes to save the poor baby...this was absolutely heartbreaking.
Sadly Lewis passed away a few days later. My heart is broken!!

Resource has been so stretched due to so many fires burning simultaneously that some people ringing emergency service for help don't even get help. So unfortunately koalas aren't a priority and many will inevitably die

Frustratingly, a lot of the fires here are started by people tossing out cigarette butts from their cars
it doesn't help that the dry weather and winds are blowing around embers, starting new fires. smoke is also being blown towards suburban areas

What if it was ur house that was destroyed, my family just bought a house which they own and we live close to the bushfires imagine if it was destroyed by the fire. We should save both animals and material possessions.
The animals and people are priority but I think they are covering the damages so people outside have an idea of the amount of destruction going on.

This woman is to admire for her courage. Poor animals that haven't harmed anyone to suffer in this manner. It broke my heart to hear this koala cry. I would like to know the reason of this action if the fire has been lite deliberately and if the person or persons involved realise the gravity and the disaster that they have caused. As an Australian i'm absolutely heartbroken and full of anger i really don't know how i would punish them. The thoughts should go to everyone who have lost everything in this disaster 😘😘

It breaks my heart to think how helpless koalas were amidst the burning forest. Just so heart wrenching. This is one of those times I fantasise being a powerful superhero with the ability to put off fire in a millisecond. Just could not help but cry and hope as it’s far from reality😢😢😢

This is why a mothers love is like no other. What a wonderful mother and woman in general. All women can be mothers but not all of them are. . Just look at the love this brave woman gave this poor animal. It broke my heart watching this. I teared up hearing his cries poor old boy i hope his pain has gone and that his mental health moving forward is ok. Can't imagine the trauma this poor creature endured. I feel for the ones that suffered, the ones that did and didn't make it. I hope that some day we will love our world more our planet is suffering, we ourselves are suffering. This may not have been direct human fault but surely beings and a society of our potential can stop or make significant positive change.

Please know not everyone in the US thinks it’s not a big deal! There are a lot of us here who care, it’s really crazy. Most of us don’t approve of our president right now despite the fact that we somehow put him there 🤦🏾♀️ And pretty much the entire generation who does actually care about the environment wasn’t old enough to vote for that election.

@@zanevanwynen3190 Well, in the US the water usage is heavily to blame. As it helps create enough of a drought that normally well hydrated plants that would be mostly unharmed in a brush clearing fire act as kindling which causes what was a harmless natural occurrence into the raging infernos often seen on the news.
I am however unsure if such severe fires are a natural phenomenon of Australia though.
