- Waaaaaaaaaay back in the day I did a PRE-RELEASE campaign with Italy -- but with three years of patches and several major expansions... it's a different game. THINGS ARE GOING TO GET A LOT REDDER.

Uk with a fallen government and collapsed empire: hey we need some radar tech up in here, this is our most pressing issue
Echoing the current state of the UK...
Italy, Russia and France versus the Axis. Sounds familiar...
You've gotta appreciate quill's dedication here. His recordings for this game went caploop, but he still uploaded on time.
My grandfather was an Alpino. He served into the artillery unit of one of those Alpini Divisions you put on Yugoslav front.
But they was deployed in Russia. Sadly, he died in Russia.
It gives me a strange feeling seeing those divisions in the game...
That sucks about your hard drive! Thanks for re-recording for us :)
I hope I'm not the only one a little tilted by the fact he has his force named "garrison" with a helmet icon, and another force named "infantry" with the castle icon. The should be reversed and it's killing me.
you are not alone
Dude, when facing forts or heavily entrenched forces, just do a planned withdrawal and follow it up with an attack once the enemy enters. Follow that up with faster units, and bam, victory!
Is planned withdrawal a thing that's in the game or something you do manually?
@@xJ0LLYR0GERx you can create a fallback line to pull the troops back from the frontlines.
@@xJ0LLYR0GERx Fallback lines are in-game mechanics, but it's more of when you're losing. I generally don't like to bang my head against a wall, so I don't ever bother with fallback lines (unless I'm simply organizing my armies).
Sorry for any confusion: "planned withdrawal" in this case means planning in your head and not within the in-game mechanics. Just like when I'm playing paintball or some game that affords use of fog of war, I take full advantage of it and deceive my opponents as best as I can. In the case of HOI4, it's easy to place one division in every border province and leave the majority of one's force behind lines. Enemy attacks, thinking they have an advantage, but in reality it's a) giving you intel on enemy force strength, movement, disposition, etc.; and b) bringing your enemy into a weaker position (non-entrenched, and hopefully in the plains).
Niš is pronounced nîːʃ (Roughly 'Neesh'), diacritics over an s usually mean a sh sound.
you, Sir, have the most epic name in youtube's history!
My God I was all excited watching your first 4 videos for beginners especially since I spent a few hours doing the Italy tutorial. Now after seeing you play Italy, I don't think I will ever be able to play this game like you are in this scenario!
With a renewal of the Rome Protocals you have an interesting option to ally with Hungary. Maybe just temporarily, but it would be useful against Cechoslovakia, perhaps?
Edit: I know you pre-record but you know...
Thanks for replaying! Such a great series so far can't wait to see where it goes
it's pronounced "nish" or like the word "niche"
Czechoslovakia had really good forts on german/austrian border IRL. Although they have never been tested in practice thanks to our allies giving us up in Munich agreement to Germany. So no wonder you have a tough time getting through them.
They were tested, however by the germans as test objects before the invasion of france and their maginot line. In the german wikipedia article for the czechoslovakian wall its mentioned that the commander of the invasion force of the Belgian fort Eben Emael described the czech forts as almost impregnable compared to its Belgian counterpart.
Good series quill. Even tho u lost some vids, its still pretty funny. Keep up the good work
You'll get better air coverage by placing planes in the center of air zones.
The peace conference happens because you had technically 2 different Wars: one against Yougoslavia, one against Chechoslovakia.
The Ç is used in Portuguese, not Spanish (Castillian). Also Catalan, which might also be what you were thinking of. Of course many other languages such as Turkish and Albanian, but I don't think this is what you were thinking.
I don't know what to call it either. We (in Brazil) don't usually call it an accent either, I don't think. But it is also not a proper letter, like the Ñ is in Spanish, so I am not sure. It is its own key on the keybord, though. I think it used to be typed as ´+c back in the day, but nowadays it is a single key, unlike all the other diacritic marks in Portuguese, such as the ´, `, ~ and^.
it is technically a letter, depends on the semantics.
the "ç" is extremely archaic in the portuguese context and comes from a period before diacritics, you could say it's not an accent because it isn't actually a variation of the "c" letter, it's a variation of the "Ꝣ" or gothic z letter
@@eduardopupucon Right, but it is still not treated like a letter. It has no place in the alphabet. And regardless on its actual origins, *now* it is treated as a variation on the c, that is where it goes in alphabetic orders and it is named as such ("c-cedilha").
Ç might have been a letter in the past. It is definitively not one now. It is a variation of the c even though it didn't originated as one.
19:22 the reason you got a peace deal was because there were no majors.
Italy was the first nation that experimented with paratroops, so building some would actually make some sense!
Czechslovakia was hard to beat, took a lot of time, even with Germany. I did not expect that, Poland was quick defeated.
Every time I try take Yugoslavia as Italy, France and the UK always protect them...
Yeah Yugoslavia starts the game guaranteed by france now. Annoying update, Italy didn't need to be weakened.
Great video
since when can you target specific buildings with strategic bombing? i've never noticed that button before!
Correct, no peace deal if in faction unless the majors in the faction all capitulate.
š = "sh". The little v over the s does not represent an accent (in this case down-up). It symbolises the difference between "s" (s) and "š" (sh). Also c = ts.
6:20 ah yes, the kirrahe tactic
"The little thing under the 'c' [...] I don't know if it counts as an accent ..." Well, it counts as an accident, let me tell you. Looks like a mustache. But yes, most likely, the additional thing around consonants shifts how to pronounce them. It's mostly because the Latin alphabet doesn't suit slavic languages very well. Of course, other languages (like the mentioned Spanish and French) do the same trick.
I wonder if Quill didn't promote his generals this long in the eps that he already did.
Does yugos guarantee only occurbat higher difficulties? Just started a game and Yugo isn't guaranteed like in your game quill18
@quill18 Gimmie more! Also have you ever tried Bice mod?
Anybody know where Essentia is from? Actually now that I think of it her name is probably not actually Essentia much like quill and briarstone
should have held ur czech frontline on the danube for the terrain benefits
You should revive Rome as a democratic faction so you can be the Res Publica Romana.
It is said like nish
Not the right thing, the Reich thing.
Š is pronounced as sh, so Niš is pronounced Nish.
Why dont you micro? A lot of these wars could be finished with less casualties with microing and not using AI plans.
isn't that exactly what he was doing on the Chech front?
@@Ceser1999 Yeah but in Yugoslavia and Ethiopia it was pure attack plans with minimal meaningful micro. Theres a difference between telling a div to go to a city and telling a div to take a specific province to help an attack.
Because it is boring most likely. Doesn't make for a good video and, for many, good gameplay either.
Also, the game is easy enough already, I guess he is in Elite difficulty so that might not apply, but it always amuses me to see people claiming for more optimal play in a campaign that is already going well. What is even the point? I would much rather have the handicap.
@@heatth1474 also its quill...hes not someone who is known for his micro.
Micro is the worst part of the game by far
Jesus I thought I'd look at this because I like HOI, but Quill, this is cringe man
