"When I Think of You" is a song by American singer Janet Jackson from her third studio album, Control (1986). It was released on July 28, 1986, as the album's third single. Composed by songwriters and record producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the song is about a person who finds relief and fun in a lover. It was Jackson's first number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100, and also peaked at number 10 in the United Kingdom.
Pitchfork included the song on their "The 200 Best Songs of the 1980s" list at number 48.[1]
The song was resurrected in 1995 when released on two limited-edition CD single formats in the United Kingdom, one containing remixes by Deep Dish and Heller & Farley, and the other containing remixes by David Morales. That same year these remixes were included on certain releases of "Runaway". "When I Think of You" has been included in each of Jackson's greatest hits albums: Design of a Decade: 1986-1996 (1995), Number Ones (2009) and Icon: Number Ones (2010).

Such a fun video. Very much in the Jackson’s innocent magic vibe on that studio set of a city. All “one shot” too! There are some hidden cuts throughout but still SOOOO much planning and rehearsal for both performance and camera choreography!

This song was more lighting when it's was released of the third single of ''Control'', because the two first singles ''What Have You Done For Me Lately'' and ''Nasty'' have more hard beat and talk more mature subjects while she was more lighting in this song.

I Recently Lost My Mom Back in Aug of this Year and She & I Loved Janet's 'Control' Album. I Still have it too!! I Think I've told You Before. But Our Favorite Track was "Let's Wait A While."
However, just as I can see Me and Her Singing Our guts out to that Track; I can see Her Singing Her guts out to this Track and "Principle of Pleasure." This Album will Never get Old. It was the Best Album She had made!! She was at the Top of Her Game and No One could Stop Her when it came out.

Okay, it's been 36 years and this song is STILL fresh! If there's an emotion I like to feel, it's joy and happiness. Her joy while skipping down the street is infectious. Listening to "When I Think Of You" makes me so happy, I want to dance!
Janet's hair may have been big, but it still wasn't as big as Dr. J's afro.

This video was kinda spectacular back then, because it was a one taker and the whole production was huge. I wasn't really a fan of Michael, I liked Janet more, loved her dance moves and hair! Rhythm Nation as one of my faves. My first Janet album I bought was Control, loved Nasty! I think the Velvet Rope is her best album.

Great Reaction, Empress ! This iconic video was directed by UK director Julian Temple who had the UK hit 'Absolute Beginners' that year featuring songs and performances by Sade, David Bowie and others. Not a big hit here but I was a fan of everything UK back then mid to late 80s. This Janet video used the Remix version of the song so they could use longer scenes. Some of the Nasty Boy dancers in this video. Same costumes etc. Love Miss Janet! Abs Beg movie clips czcams.com/video/I15EF6XVaZA/video.html.
