gorgeous piece!! your experience with creating really resonates to my heart. i also love working with natural wood and making huge art wall decor. i still haven't sold any ..but i want to. thanks for sharing your talent!!
Scott, I do believe you have achieved the definition of "pure awesomeness." There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, you are a true "Master of Your Art." After watching this video, I'm now feeling compelled to forage my woodlot for candidates that may become my next attempt at a "Scott O'Connor copycat piece." Thanks again Scott. You continue to inspire, teach, and promote your craft. You've been so generous with your experience and knowledge. I feel deeply indebted.
Thanks Scott. New News! Some local artists saw the hackmatack hanging wall sculpture I did on line, and recommended me to the "Bold Coast Art Collective." A little while ago, I received an invitation from the Bold Coast Art Collective to become a member. Feeling a little stoked up right now. I have you to thank for that.
Me, myself and I were all there....and Yours truly too....but I didn't bring them out at the end to say good bye this time. But don't worry, they're all doing great :)
As one of your viewers said, art is subjective, and I see floral when I look at this. Probably not what you want to hear but it's just one guy's opinion and, as usual, it's beautiful and one-of-a-kind.
I haven't heard anyone say it reminds them of floral yet. I don't mind hearing that at all, I've painted a few flower still life's so I actually like floral art. That's one of the interesting things about making art like this, it can be interpreted differently by different people.
It always has me buggered why Americans have to superimpose the sound of a petrol engine chainsaw over a clip like this, when they are clearly using an electric chainsaw. Must be something similar to why cars always explode and burst into flames in the movies. But I love your work - that is true art and something anyone would be proud to have done.
Yes, that's my warped sense of humor at work I guess. I was hoping that someone would ask why I have an extension cord super glued to the back of my gas powered chainsaw but it hasn't happened yet. I've always liked the way the cars would explode and burst into flames in the movies so maybe the idea behind it is something similar to that. Maybe in a future video I can superimpose flames coming out the exhaust of the electric chainsaw and sparks flying off the chain as I'm cutting wood - Now you're giving me some ideas :)
Hahaha ............. sparks coming from the chain is not as unusual as it might sound. I was cutting some of the local salmon gum to make some large bowl blanks the other day, and I swear there were sparks coming out the back of the saw. Search for "V8 Chainsaw" movie clips - you might see something there that would give you some inspiration for your work. I look forward to seeing your next one.
The final piece looks like 2 elephants playing with 2 balls in the air or something. Good work bro! Just subscribed, hope to see more of your amazing woodwork ! :)
Awsome art, I just found your videos and now going back and watching the others. I am into metal working and true Blacksmithing but I have a desire to combine rustic wood art and real Blacksmithing. I do have a question, Is your wall art air, solar or kiln dried or just like nature presents it to you? Awsome Art.😎👍
This just might be your best work.... the metamorphose of two butterflies no caterpillar state just egg to butterfly....... "The Cycle of the Butterfly".....Hot Dog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so I have not seen any of the unused wood make it to another art piece.... believe it or not just a few piece from this one a few piece from that one and one, just one piece from the one over there would would be fantastic..... do not want to be critical just inspiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT RUSTIC WOOD ART PIECE!!!!!!!!!!!! A TRUE UNINTENDED MASTER PIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you look close it looks like heart tilted to the right but that is nothing when look at the individual piece that make up the chain around the perimeter of the piece.... The hand gestures of the two finger "PEACE SIGN"at the far bottom... the Hawaiian hand gesture of "ALOHA" or "HANG LOOSE"... "SHAKA" is on both sides with the forearm....a pair of swimming goggles on the top right... making off center humps of the heart...And the Crowning Hand Symbol in the Center of the Pinky Finger, Index Finger and Thumb or the "I LOVE YOU" sign!!!!! This piece might Just might Make you worthy of being "King" Sir Scott!!!!!! A MASTER PIECE IF EVER SAW ONE!!!!!!!!!
I had to take another look at it after reading your comment. I've always liked this piece with all it's random features but after reading what your wrote and getting your insight on it I now have a new way of looking at it :) Thanks Stan!
It's a chainsaw carving disc. I got mine at Harbor Freight which is the least expensive one available. They make much better ones like the Lancelot but the one I've got works good enough.
Oh wow beautiful pice love it

Wow
💜😇💜
What kind of paint is that that you use?
I used acrylic paint on the backer board.
@@scottoconnor OK. My wife said it looked like chalk paint since it looked so thick.
Scott what is the cutting blade you use on your angle grinder?
It's a chainsaw carving disc. I got mine at Harbor Freight which is the least expensive one available. They make much better ones like the Lancelot but the one I've got works good enough.
Thanks Scott Looks like it would work better than my belt sander.
Scott thanks for the feed back. Made a couple wall pieces look nothing as good as yours. Thanks Jack
Why have gas powered chain saw noise when you are using an electric chain saw? Weird!
