THIS SAVED MY STREAM. THANK YOU! I was the 1/10 where I needed the Async and I was so lost and frustrated before I found this video. You are the best!
I would like to see you do an external audio mixer in the setup. I know that it adds complexity to the setup, but it would be nice to see you add the mixer.
It would be just another tool in the toolkit :D
I wish I stumbled on to your youtube channel earlier in life. A lot of headaches could have been avoided. Much love. keep up the good work
Outstanding video Michael, thank you.
Thanks! Glad to help.
Excellent video. Thanks for the tips
Amazing, I didn´t even think of switching USB Ports, but that was absolutely the fix! Thank you so much you just saved my sanity!
Awesome video and glad I came by this. My viewers today noticed how my gameplay was coming in first before the audio and it was not matching up. I would shoot in game and the audio sound would register seconds later. I’m still trouble shooting however I think it’s a bitrate issue. I monitor my audio while playing and everything sounds fine no delay except on CZcams it’s not matching up🤷♂️
Thank you some much. This really helped 🙏🏽
Honestly, outstanding. Thank you for the help
Thanks alot this was super helpful and dialed the sync right in.
Awesome. Glad to help
Good evening young content creator. I'm writing from Brazil, and I'm just passing to warn you that somehow youtube canceled my registration on your channel, because I've been following your videos about OBS, and I leave the like in all, and my registration from the first video I watched on your channel was to notify me of all news. I was surprised that I was no longer watching videoof you coming, so I went to check and my registration on your channel had been canceled by CZcams, I do not know why, but I have already signed up again and activated the bell of all notifications. So I leave this alert here for you. Thanks for sharing more of this quality content, and congratulations on your channel. Sincerely Alexandre Mazucato
Thanks For the info.
Hi Michael, Found your channel searching for issues I was having. Very helpful. I joined and followed. I appreciate your help. I have some extra questions for you and was wondering how I could get in contact with you? Again I appreciate your time. Tyvm
Oh my God .. this is like one stop solution for any problem in live streaming .. thank you!
Glad to help
My experience from my setup is the audio is in front of the picture and needs to be delayed. This is because HDMI has a delay on it and if your audio is using say an ASIO audio interface the latency will be much less. The great news is you can use that latency to add some amazing audio plugins, like eq and compressors or up the buffer size of your audio interface for less chance of audio issues. Take a while to suss out though. I usually record a clap, then play it back, adjust, record again. Has to be a better way I suppose.
That works. It’s the same as the clicker they use to create clips in the movies. It’s designed to sync the audio. The clap does the same job for free. :-)
Thank you for the video!
Glad to help.
Thank you.
The issue I have is, having 2 audio sources, just one of them gets out of sync temporarily during a livestream, during a few minutes. I don't get why this occurs
This guy makes great videos
As others have mentioned, a video on streaming using an external mixers would be a great help. I recently streamed a basketball game with 2 broadcasters and 3 cameras. The main camera was connected to the OBS using RTSP (Sony camcorder though an HDMI to Ethernet encoder). The other 2 cameras were cell phones running "NDI HX CAMERA" connected to my ntwork wirelessly and captured by OBS using NDI as source tipe. Audio was fed to OBS via a mixer connected to OBS via USB. There was noticable video lag from the main camera, but not so much from the 2 wireless NDI cameras.
How do I sync things up in this scenario?
I am having about a 10 second audio lag on my live stream. I've watched a few of your videos on this subject, I am using a x264 encoder, but when I watch my stats, I see no frame or skipped missed frames. I have adjusted all of the setting to the lowest setting as you suggest, but audio lag is the same. Now for a Camera and Mic I am using a Logitech 4k Pro Webcam Brio. Also my upload speeds are over 50mbps. Do you have any suggestions?
Very helpful. my streams are constantly out of sync. My last stream one camera was so out of sync it was horrible. the other did not seem as much out of sync, which was weird.
Yes please on the audio mixer! I've been working on this, but it would be helpful to see what you do.
I used a video editor to figure out the audio lag time (by number of frames and frame rate) to feed back into OBS for my teaching laptop. 720P 30FPS was the way to go on this low specced machine.
Awesome!
Another vote for the audio mixer video!👍🏾
Nice video, Very insightful. A video on exernal mixers would be a great help. Thanks for offering!!
Thanks!
Good explanation 👏 👍
Thanks
So I was doing a live performance on my stream and when I played it back the vocals were off . I did what you said and got both my rendering and encoding to 0 after adjusting what you suggested from the settings , before I changed it the rendering lag was 13 after it went to zero . Hopefully this resolves it , bout to try it now
Another thing so I have an el gato capture card . Will that help ? I bought it for my ps5 . But if I need it for this issue I will . I thought the capture card was for console recoding .
This is good information. I want to use NDI cameras (iPhones) wirelessly, and I was just thinking it was probably a good idea to combine the audio into the video source.
Hi Michael, does this apply to recording as well? I record with a friend by bringing her in via Skype (as per your excellent tutorial for streaming live guests); we noticed on playback that we're out by a couple of second or so. Would we be able to apply these same techniques to recording? Or is there another solution?
You have a lot more play when you are talking about recording. Generally you are using bitrates like 50000 or 60000. There is a lot more adjustment there. Any sync or lag issues can be resolved using this process generally.
Hi Michael, great job as always. Question: You showed the list with information about settings. Do You have a list of settings for zoom, skype and teams as well? Greatings from Germany.
I do not unfortunately. You can’t really change any setting in them anyway as far as I know.
What if the audio lags in a stream but not in a recording? When I check out my twitch vod, the audio lags about half a second in the gameplay. When I record, the audio is perfect
is it possible to delay the screen capture video to the same amount of ms too? My OBS problem is that I fix the audio sync so the desktop audio (metronome in Ableton) lines up with me clapping on beat in my mic but then of course the screen capture (of Ableton) video is out of sync with its audio!
I record a CZcams and when I play the file, the audio plays first and doesn’t line up with the video playback. I am assuming I need to delay the Desktop audio in settings to make them line up for recording. I’m thinking it might take a few snippet recordings to get this right.
Your video was about streaming and not recording video, but I think one section in this video gave me a clue.
Hi michael this really helped i love you lmao
Glad to help.
Hi Michael. My issue is that when I'm streaming a conversation between myself and a guest on OBS, via Zoom, the guest's audio/video lags considerably on OBS (but it's fine on Zoom). While my audio/video is perfectly in sync on both OBS and Zoom. I'm working on a new iMac M1.
Wellp, thats the problem, the freaking macbooks LOL I'm having audio sync issues on a macbook air. They SUCK
Thanks. My Conundrum: Using OBS, Video and Audio Spot On in Sync in the produced MP4. Problem, upload MP4 to youtube the video is advanced. Help?
i think the reason that most of your viewers aren’t subscribed is because most of your videos cover specific issues, so most people only come for that issue then leave.
Hi Michael do you have an updated video on this?
My issue was the USB port that my mic was plugged into. Thanks mentioning that! :)
Hello Michael, I was really struggling with the out-of-sync audio, video problem for a while I was finally able to fix it using the bouncing ball method. Using the bouncing ball method I was able to get my sync spot on every time using audio and video coming into my computer via USB.
Awesome!!
Bouncing ball method? Please explain
How do I setup video recording using Audio Mixer (V8 Soundcard), a microphone, and OBS Studio?
So I'm out of options I've tried all of this and still have about a 2 second delay on audio after all this. I'm recording on Xbox X with an Elgato X Through OBS using an older Astro A40 trs. Anyone got any advice for me? Streaming and recording Audio is delayed about 2 secs. 5000 kbs rate. Also I'm dropping about 5 percent frames for some reason. My max upload is about 11k kbs. What can I do?
Hi Michael I’ve been using OBS for djing, made over 50 video recordings. Over this weekend I made a hour long mix then played it back audio was popping and skipping like echo sound. Didn’t make and changes so I tried doing a 5 min recording, played back no issues, did another recording for an hour same issue from start to finish any ideas just seems random?
It almost sounds like a cable issue of some kind.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr im thinking the same with the cables. I have an audio device called irig stream 2 that uses rca to plug into my controller. I did find the cable’s weren’t plugged in tight enough, hopefully that was the solution. Lol thanks for your quick response
Michael, at our church when we live stream using OBS on our Mac Mini with the new Apple M1 chip, after 15-30mins the audio goes out of sync. We do not have this issue using a very old Windows PC with the same settings. Our audio is coming from our mixer. Any suggestions?
Use a pc. :-) seriously macs just aren’t made to stream. I’ll be getting my m1 and then I will be able to do some testing and content. Hopefully it will help. It doesn’t come in until early feb. Apple…
I love that this is about audio sync and... well, your audio/video is out of sync...
so I'm having an audio problem I can't hear my audio at all if I upgrade my resolution to 1980x1080p it will play the audio but it will be choppy need help just got back to my set up it's been 7 months and I updated all my drivers.
what if i have audi0o sync issues even when im not streaming but only when using obs ( duel PC )
I got a bit confused there with the bitrate part. You mentioned that you were going to adjust the bitrate which was set at 5500 and then it stayed the same at 5500. What is it supposed to be?
In fact, the issue oes resolve a few minutes later, so thank you. I WOULD be interested in videos about external mixers too.
HELP: ( My most recent video shows everything ) My elgato audio shows on the meter in obs and also has it’s own track but when I finish my recordings the audio is empty on the gameplay audio track
What to do when screen recording audio over time is not synced with video? Anything I screen record over 15 minutes slowly out syncs itself (audio) video. What to do dude (Mike)
I'm dealing with inconsistent audio lag through my capture card. The capture card captures video and audio and on some streams I see no delay. Others, I see no delay at first, then slowly a 2 or three second delay sets in. Even more sporadically, I'll see a ten second audio delay throughout. No hardware or encoding lag was recorded. I'm not sure what the cause could be other than the cheap capture card. I'd hate to drop $200 for a decent card to find out I still have this problem.
Hello Michael I am a twitch streamer, when I stream my audio an video start very good, but after 2 hours, the audio Begins to unsync gradually, so after 3 hours the audio is 1.5 sec delayed from video and it continues, do you know how Can I fix this issue? I use OBS studio
This is usually due to your machine struggling to keep up with encoding. The way I prevent it is by plugging my mic into the camera.
You can try moving your mic input to another usb bus. It is possible that the bus the mic is on is overloaded. If the mic and camera are on the same usb bus this is a common issue.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr thanks for your response, but only my mic audio is unsync but also my desktop sound is delayed 😬
Hi Michael. Ok this video is concerning audio which is perfect .. so my question is , WHY. why is The audio EQUALIZING that been listen 👂 🎧 back from the monitor output under the audio channel advance audio property (monitor and output setting )
Is sounding Different when it is recording internally using the record ⏺️ button in OBS . And also it sounds differently on the streaming platforms from what your actually hear in the OBS monitor advance audio property output . ???
That’s really odd. I don’t know why that would be happening. Maybe someone else knows?
Thank you for been real.
Ok lets put it out their so that anyone in the community can answer
When I try to stream there is a 20 sec lag when I speak in obs with my mic 20 seconds later I here it in you tube. Using a usb mic don't know if that's the issue. Any help would be appreciated
Is the audio and video out of sync? if it is not then its normal. If it is its some sort of equipment lag. I have lots of videos on how to fix it.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr not using video just pictures. maybe its normal to have audio lag I listen to the audio u tube stream on phone that's were I hear my voice 20 sec later kind of weird I would expect 5 sec as acceptable but 20 sec is little much. Thank you u have awsome videos..
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Whats weird when I record the obs there is no lag in the recording with my voice just streaming where i'm having issue.
good
Thanks.
brother, my struggle is after 20/30 second the sound just stop and repeat the 29 second sound. what should i do?
YES! This is the very problem I'm having right now. Audio comes in fast, video is 4-5 seconds behind. Racking my brain trying almost everything suggested! I do have my audio and mics coming through a separate mixer. I'm using PTZ cameras so any help you can show or give will be greatly appreciated.
HDMI adds delay, not usually this much though, do you have lots of filters on the video?
@@stephenhillman I didn't have any filters at all!🤣 I did find out that I needed a higher off sync value. So that helped create a new issue. 2 cameras but the same sync settings aren't working for the other camera! It's behind. Any suggestions?
@@FForwardFlashbackwhat do you mean with "off sync value"? I'm jist having the same issue as you and need to solve it...
@@user-th8rw4eg6m I went into the filters and fixed my problem that way. Select your camera under Sources. Then select Filters menu, above the word Sources. Under the audio/ video filters click the Plus. Select the Video Delay(Async). Adjust til works for you. Hope that helps!
@@FForwardFlashback I used that filter today. It was going fine until half of the facebook stream . Then it began again to have the same delay... i'm using a macbook air.
My stream audio has been going slowly out of sync for the last couple of weeks. I don't know how settings that worked can suddenly not work, but there we are. I've tried so many things, and it's driving me crazy.
Audio is so frustrating. It’s why I really recommend camera and audio integrated in some way going on to the computer. It saves on usb bandwidth too.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr I've been wanting to do that. The Zoom Q8 has two xlr inputs, so I was figuring I could get a cheap little mixer, so all my mic business with that, and then plug that into the camera.
I'm starting to think that updating my computer was a mistake.
What do I do if it’s a hardware issue? Should I lower some settings in obs?
Yep.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr is there a way to return all settings to default? I followed a tutorial and changed some settings.
@@5ashll303 Just create a new profile.
How to recover a record that was interrupted by the power off of my lap top accidentally?
when ever I go live on facebook , after some time obs shows 0 kb/s and connected, but stream does not working. This problem is only with facebook only .
Are you on a Mac?
windows 8.1
Now concerning audio syn issue.
It would be awesome if the audio in the monitor output category under audio advance property that i am hearing in OBS match up with the in house audio output.
Hear is the issue : The sync issue that i am having is that when you open obs and leave it , with audio playing in-house and also the same audio going into OBS .. they are in sync .. But when you touch any thing in OBS for example say that you moved the volume slider or press audio filter. it goes out of sync or should I say OBS {listen back } delayS timing from what is playing in-house. .
I did try the off syn method under audio advance property. But still it ain't any different. So is there a plugging of some sort ..
umm 🎉 let me know 🎉
Any process that you have on your audio will cause a delay to the stream. What is important is that the delay is the same for the audio and the video.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr My video and audio is perfectly in sync going live on the various plateforme .. that all fine and good. That is If i Am not actually in person at the live event to hear how far away to delay speaches actually is.
My issues is.. that when i am at the live event .. the listen back on OBS and the listen back widdin the event space is not on the same timing. IF.. IF.. i click around in OBS.
Now if i just open OBS with everything going on .. without touching anything around in the canva .. then all is perfect in every way. But as soon as I click around in OBS canvas then the listen back audio in OBS is not on same tempo as the real and natural output sound in the event space
I would take a look at the stats in this video and see if you are dropping frames from encoding
Please do a video on external mixer
My Stats message reads Frames Missed Due to Rendering Lag.
so its not rendering fast enough.
What if I’m on stream labs?
Michael: Your tutorials are REALLY good. I AM a subsciber and I do NOT understand why more folks are not. That being said I've got a very beefy, robust laptop with PLENTY of horsepower. Windows PC. I'm using the latest version of OBS. 95% of what I do IN OBS I've learned from YOUR videos. So, your request at the END of THIS one to all of us has me asking you for assistance on THIS issue...I have all of my mics running into a Behringer mixer. I have 3 NDI PTZ cameras hooked intoa POE switch, then into my PC with Cat 6 cables. I have NO audio connection per camera...just video. Try as I might I canNOT get the audio to sync up with the video. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance. Chris in Chandler AZ
Nvidia Broadcast caused my delay, so weird!
My audio issue is the game sound doesn’t match the video
my audio keeps getting a worse and worse audio delay as the stream goes one
That is a sign of encoding issued related to how powerful the computer is.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Thank you
was hoping the manual sync would have been the first option >_
I have an issue where my audio will be fine, but eventually out of nowhere my audio goes out of sync.
oh my god, I cant believe swapping usb ports saved like 3 seconds of audio lag
10:42 Webcam audio is the GOOD example of BAD audio. hahaha. 😅
Pretty basic stuff. The issue many have that's not fixed is OBS MAC video lags behind audio progressively worse; sync'd at beginning and then video lags behind audio 2 sec. at 30 min. runtime
Might have something to do with output frame rate in settings. This'd be handy to report on your video. 'Difficult to find a MAC solution for this out there
Out of sync issues with audio and video especially on mac are usually related to USB buss speeds. If a mic and a camera are on the same buss over time there is not enough bandwith so something has to give and the audio lags over time. Run the USB items on seperate busses.
Pleas aktif subtitel speak INDONESIA Boss
dude where is the 60 second version im too drunk for this
The SETTING of Audio is JUST " Blank "🥺🥺🥺 NO WORDS OR No icon to ADJUST

this didn't help me at all
Yes, you're doing something wrong... asking that subscribe question in EVERY VIDEO.
@chris.w Are you a friend of Michael feyrer Jr? 😀
Are you answering his question " am I doing something wrong " as a positiveness for laughter?
Nah he’s just a dude who doesn’t like me taking 30 seconds to ask him to do something that helps me out, in a free video with useful information.
It doesn’t matter that the ask is always in the exact same location in every video so my regular viewers and subscribers can easily hit the 30 second button to skip it because they know exactly where it is. That is just too difficult. Life is so hard.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Been subscribed for a while now. _Everyone's_ analytics shows a lot more people watching than subbed, if they're at all popular - it's just the way CZcams is. I have no issue with someone asking for subs, but trying in just about every video to make people feel guilty about not subscribing is a bit over the top. No worries, though, your videos are too good to keep me away. :-)
I can appreciate that, And I wouldn’t do it if the analytics didn’t tell me it is unbelievably effective. I mean 100% more effective than just a standard cta. That means for every 100 views I get 2 subs instead of one on average. That a pretty huge difference and that average is over a large body of numbers over a long period of time. I don’t like doing it. No one who does CZcams likes asking for anything really.
But it’s a business, and channel success means I can keep doing what I love. Making videos. I am glad you enjoy the content. Hopefully this gives you some insight into why I do it. :-)
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Illegitimus carberendum, Michael
Edit: this guy has no clue what he is talking about!!! Following this advice will just cause more render lag. You want canvas resolution to match the monitor that you are capturing. If your captured game is running at 1080p use a 1080p canvas NOT 720p like he adviced. After adjusting the canvas to match my regular monitor I can stream 1440p at 60fps no issues and record at 4k 60fps. Canvas and output resolution don't have to match. Canvas has to match the captured game, not the output!!!!
