Really fun fact: In chapter 1 and chapter 2, on noelle's father hospital room, there is a little angel made by noelle and dess, and when you interact with it, it says "The lack of facial features is unsetling", i speculate that it had to do with the vessel (who also doesn't have any facial features) and was created by the PLAYER, once again creating a connection to the player and a angel
Its worth mentioning that Father Alvin mentions the angel "watches from above" when its a top-down rpg

What I love about Deltarune's story and this video is that it isn't focused on lore implications, but the message. More 4th wall breaking games need to realize that shocking the player that "this is a game in a game in a game..." isn't enough for a story. It can be a really creative and versatile tool for more interesting stories, but it won't have weight. Yes, the implementation is usually really interesting, but a message is an integral part to stories.

One detail about the snow grave route: Birdly is really dead.
After awaking in the light world, not only does Birdly just seem cold and lifeless, when you investigate the library's side room, it's told us the player it's somewhat the perfect hidding spot for Birdly 's body.

A few things that might be relevant to deltarune in the future: the files save some really bizarre information, like how many enemies you spared, pacified, froze, killed with fatal damage(fatal damage means they actually die, if you abort snowgrave at the berdly fight you can use snowgrave on 3 maus in the cheese maze which gives a special animation for fatal damage), and forced to flee. I think I remember hearing that it saves the vessel you create, but take that with a grain of salt.

It does save the vessel, and it is interesting that it differentiates between the enemies you pacify and freeze, and also between the enemies susie attacks and the ones the player attacks

Sans Is Ness was actually the first episode of Game Theory that I ever watched, and the one that got me into watching the channel.
Looking forward to the future ahead.
I heard a theory that went like this- Kris, Susie, and Ralsei’s choices are the ones who don’t matter.
But, Noelle, being seperate from the prophecy, has choices that do matter.
I think susie is the key. Everyone else is susceptible to the players commands but susie is the only one that can refuse the player through rebellion so her role may be as important as noelle who is the lost lamb. Noelle is most susceptible and susie is the least making her the breaking point for us.

I've consumed and made so many theories about this game. It's fun seeing pieces from all our minds rearranged into this idea -- basically like what DELTARUNE itself is to UNDERTALE. Great stuff, Matt! Curious to see how it all pans out when all the chapters are released.
I have a feeling that starting with Chapter 2, there will be more options and choices opening up to the player via secret routes. We will break out of the initial "your choices don't matter" thing in chapter 1, bathe in our freedom, and then feel extremely terrible about what our freedom has done to the characters and their lives.

here's my theory on why kris opens a dark fountain:
so he clearly slashed toriels tires after leaving the window, which caused her to call the police, he left the door open, and turned on the TV.
this all connects to 1 thing, kris did this intentionally as a lure, to get undyne to enter the dark world, so she actually believes it's real.

And that's what both worries me and fascinates me the most about Deltarune. Even on a normal route, everything is still revolving around us, the player. We've been shown that Kris actually cares a lot about their friends. But, in the end, they're not Kris' friends. They're OUR friends. We've managed to get them to like Kris, and we know that Kris has been somehow ignored their whole life. Our choices made Kris likeable, as sad as that is. Even if Kris despises the player, do they really want to get rid of us? Kris knows pretty well their friends like them because of the player, except for maybe Noelle. So is Kris really interested in separating from us? Great theory btw, I was starting to miss your Undertale/ Deltarune theories.

His theories on undertale/deltarune were so infamous that it was overdue to *finally* complete some unfinished buisness
my enjoyment of this was also amplified considering i was hoping there would be a 2nd deltarune theory
Toby is so incredibly creative and the way he executes his works is so impressive. He never misses.
Fun Fact: The name of one of the songs in Deltarune is "You Can Always Come Home", a reference to Earthbound, where you can always come home to your mother and heal up.

As a small point of nuance, i think playing the "normal" route is relinquishing freedom.
While yes we do make decisions, like where to walk and such, we arent controlling the characters so much as guiding the journey.
The snowgrave+ whatever else in future chapters is forcing control, whereas the normal route is relinquishing it.

The part of the video that says “-X game theories remain” reminds me of Undertale where it shows the logo and “by Toby Fox” after leaving the ruins.
I almost get the feeling that even tho the player has control over Kris, there may be someone even above the player who gives the player their options. (the snowgrave route being the players one way of seeking control away from the character above the player).

Something I think adds on to this is after fighting Spamton in the normal fight against him, Ralsei asks Kris if he's alright. Saying he's fine has Ralsei ask why Kris is struggling to say "I'm Fine" but saying he isn't fine has Ralsei ask why Kris is screaming.

Something I noticed about this is that there are options that Kris seems to prefer over the other, like in chapter 1 where Susie asks us to fight and the SOUL moves to the “let’s not” option for a split second even without player input, and the reactions of Susie and Ralsei to the different pose options in the acid lake ride with Kris’s “rude gesture” being described as more confident. I think the final ending we get in deltarune changes based on if we choose Kris’s options or our own.
Love how this channel was the only way I got info about this game lol so I never knew deltarune actually released more than 1 chapter
The degree of nostalgia seeing anything deltarune related gives me is absurd
Noelle in the snowgrave route actually gains little to confidence, to where even in the hospital when she was playing in her handheld she literally accepted whatever her father said or wanted, unlike the neutral route where she refused and put on a different in-game character.

Yeah, there’s Asriel, but Chara also plays this role by destroying the world, metaphorically freeing the monsters. May not be too relevant to Deltarune, but I wanted to point that out.
What if the same is the case with Chara and us? If the flavor text theory is true, it would mean we influence how Chara "behaves" with our choices. And I'm not mistaking Frisk for Chara.

Chara calls herself "the _demon_ that comes when you call its name" when you meet her in the genocide route. So it's a bit more symmetrical; there's an angel and a demon.

Just a thought: in the original undertale game, there was cide for the game to delete it'self on the genocide ending but it was scrapped.

What i really love besides Matt doing a deltarune theory is how much the player is like Asriel in Undertale.
After being bored from doing a choice we will change and go for a more evil route for more content, and to see more just loke how Asriel as flowey killed and talked differently for different outcomes. Like how a player wouldn't do the same thing over and over and instead opting for a different outcome for more content.

Hear me out: the character you make in the start of ch1 is what the final boss design will be. Also Kris could be an anagram for Risk, like the risk of your freedom but the character's misery.

Also, another thing he didn’t mention that I noticed is that Ralsei’s story says “seal the fountains and banish the angel’s heavens” This is shown where Kris, Susie and Rasei first seals the dark fountain and then the important part comes along. Kris takes out his soul and “Banishes” it somewhere. In chapter 1, it was the cage and in chapter 2, it was the sink cabinet and the couch.
Ps: Love that detail where for which chapter you are in, it happens twice, sealing the fountain in Neutral and Snowgrave “They are different because Spamton shows up at the portal in Snowgrave” and Kris banishes you, the soul in two spots instead of one.

Something that wasn’t mentioned (that makes it seem Berdly is in fact dead), is that in the hospital, there’s one of those block things with beads. Their colors match everyone and their friends, but in snowgrave, the blue one is *snapped off* kind of showing Berdly is actually dead and isn’t just passed out or something

One big point in favor of your theory: You know the big locked door in ralsei's castle? Massive SOUL engraving, surrounded by six angel wings and a crown. The rudinn even calls it PLAYERtown.
And as a smaller note, you didn't even mention us controlling the SOUL *in all cases* - dialogue boxes, battle screens, and even inching it around inside the birdcage.

He did mention us moving in the bird cage. He also mentions several times that we're the one making the choices which would make mentioning moving the soul around to select dialogue options redundant.

This may be already happening with Ralsei as when Ralsei wonders what Suzie might be up to and our perspective shifts to watch her when we get back to Kris and Ralsei it looks like they just wrapped up a conversation but nothing comes of it. I have a feeling that Ralsei is aware of the our existence and while our perspective changes Ralsei is doing things behind our backs to try and go against us somewhere down the line.

Ralsei is definitely talking to Kris about us, wouldn't be surprised in the last chapters of the game Ralsei and Kris found a way to get rid of us permanently, or even before the game ends, and maybe we'll be forced to control someone else

Well, obedient to Kris/us. But she does stand up for herself to keep playing her game when Rudy offers to beat the boss for her. So while in some ways her will was weakened, in other ways she became stronger.
