IMO unless you’re a JRPG anything past 20+ hours is too much. At that point you’re guaranteeing that you’re copy pasting assets out the ass to try and spread a game out longer than it needs to be.

This game really was something you can just "chill" to. Played for the past 4 hours and didn't even realize it was 1am!! I was just so hooked and mesmerized by the art, sounds and gameplay. This game really wants you to observe and just soak everything in as you explore the world you're in.

The gamepad vibration that mimics a cat's purr when you scratch the carpet is just A+. To me it's the best feature of the game.

Spoiler Alert: The moments I had most fun with this game was being a little mischievous like tripping the robots that walk around the area, or in anthill particularly with a pair of bots playing a game. Anyone who played a table game when cats are around knows their pain when you jump onto their table.
Omg when I made a robot trip and fall I started cracking up. I did it again just cause it was so funny.

I played it for 7 hours, I took my time taking a lot of screenshots though, this game is a gem, and I love the gameplay and the level design..the fact that there's no map it's a plus

This is the perfect game for my mom! She wanted to play some games again but is mostly overwhelmed by the mechanics and movement. (she wants to play third person games for some reason) she loves cats and i think its gonna be just the right game
Show her this game called cat quest it's a very simple rpg game where you play as a cat it's very cute with a lot of cat puns I'm sure she would love the sequel is even coop if your willing or friends and grandkids are willing to play along!

As someone who's grown older and hardly have any spare time for gaming, these short enjoyable games are exactly what I need. Almost every long game that I tried over the past few years ended up left unfinished. Even if I want to get back to them, I've almost forgot everything from story to controls , meaning that I have to start over. Keep small, fun, budget games coming and a lot of people like me will be really really happy.
You type exactly the words right out of my mouth. I thought it was just me that don’t finish some of the games and when I do I have time, i have to play the game from the beginning again cause I already forgot the mechanics of the game.

Same. I just has a couple of days to play and finished up Shadow of Tomb Raider, which I left off, I don't know, years ago. So satisfying to actually finish a game. Also, Sifu is a great, pretty short game, which you can pick up in intervals. Highly recommend.

I loved every last second of this game. I really can’t fault it. I’ve spent ridiculous amounts of time just walking around taking in all the sights and interacting with everything. I’ve walked up to just about every companion and meowed at them to see their reactions. I’ve taken naps everywhere. I really appreciate that they managed to fit soooo much into a shorter game. It was worth the wait and I hope we get more.
I could not stop playing this game as soon as I wad able to play. I finished it in 8hrs. I have not sat through an entire game like this in years. I hope they make another one and I just might replay it to get all the unlocks.

They left the ending with a little hint that something more is to come.
This game was also kind of cute, I am not a "cat-person" , but I sure loved being a cat. Very different experience, so chilling, great art, great music everything was new. Cats are actually fun animals!

Some of them i've seen grow from kittens to adult cats. They got used to me as well, i could see they appreciate me for the care i gave them. I love all animals but honestly i don't really like cats, and that's coming from a Leo in horoscope hahaha.. Cats are cute in appearance and nice to pet and cuddle, but other than that i see no purpose in owning a cat. For me, cats are just like a toy that you play with for a little bit, give it some food and that's it. Like a fish in an aquarium, but a fluffy fish that you can cuddle with. You can't do anything with cats except cuddle, it's like a living fluffy toy. As a pet they are similar to owning a squirrel, rabbit, hamster, bird, lizard etc. just decoration/toy pets but with more personality of course. Very few cats do more than just being amusing. When a cat does something smart and out of the ordinary, everyone pulls up their cameras because it's a rare moment lol.. Not to mention they can be very annoying and frustrating, and also damaging to your property, it's a bit masochistic to own a cat hahaha.. And it feels more like you're serving the cat, as if they own you.. THEY decide when to cuddle and when to not cuddle, and they're only nice when their mood is right or when they need food.. I feel used and manipulated by cats, and i don't like being submissive.
But dogs are something else, they are truly your best friend. They are your partner in life and you can do so many things with them. They are like humans with furr, but with even better personality than humans. I'm not religious but if angels exist, they are here on Earth disguised as dogs. They are so pure, kind, intelligent, emotional, loyal, brave, protective, useful for many different things.. Truly divine creatures. Personally i would never risk my life for a cat, and neither the cat would risk its life for me. But when it comes to dogs, i know we would both risk our lives for each other.
To anyone who likes cats more than dogs, they've never owned a dog haha..

The setting is based on the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong, which is a fascinating story in itself.

The game only being around 4 hours actually has me more excited for it. This doesn’t look like the kind of game I would want to spend 20+ hours playing.

I can't wait for this game. Finding out it's a peaceful, relaxed pace allowing for exploration is just perfect. I love cats and I lost my orange tabby last year, so it will be nice imagining this is her exploring around and shedding everywhere, if only digitally.

Completed the game just an hour ago its a masterpiece and the ending was heartbreaking, I really loved it ...If you are cat lover and you like games like little nightmares you should play this game.
The ending was sad but i thought it was kind of too quick. Like there were still more questions unanswered and i hope to see some more closure on the story later. Wether that be and extension to the game, or another 2nd game but i would like to see something. Or maybe the end should stay the way it is as a mystery, as the whole game kind of is.

I wouldn't be surprised if they develope expansions. Maybe they wanted to see how things panned out before creating a lot of content.
that was how the first portal worked. I get that same feeling from this game. It was an experiment to test out the waters. And then the players love it so much that they finish it in a day. I hope if and when they come out with stray 2, it hits just as hard as portal 2 did.

This game has heart. A really big one. It takes your hand, takes you on this little journey and does almost everything to make you care for this world. It’s a little gem, in a tiny, simple format.
The opening 5 mins of this game are already worth $30. Played about an hour so far and the music, environment, and jumping around and meowing are amazing. It's just chill vibes being a little cute kitty and not stressing for a change. I really needed this.

It's actually insane how many games have you playing as humans in this era of gaming. Games like Alien vs Predator, Evolve, and Tokyo Jungle are all amazing because you play as something other than just a human.
We need more games where you play as creatures and animals. There's SO much potential.

Ah yes one of my favorites games as a kid was called claymates where you get turned into a piece of clay and then the power ups let you turn into different animals a cat that lets your climb walls and trees a rat that is faster then sonic... a fish for under water stages and a duck that lets you fly a dog and I forgot what else but it was awesome

This is the one game I was looking forward to since it was announced. Stayed away from all spoilers and beat it yesterday. It was a great ride and super chill. I'll eventually go back and go for the Platinum trophy but I do hope there is some DLC to show what happens after the ending.

I would have loved a scene where we were reunited with our fellow cats from chapter one. Would have liked it even more if it was interactive (e.g. we could "sniff", "pet" and "play" with them again), and would have been awesome if some of the main AI companions had turned up to say "Hi" (even if we couldn't understand them without our droid).

@@tiagoviana263 Well you do have a happy ending! Your cat gets back to the surface (and no doubt meets up with it's companions), but all we see is your cat against a sunlit background. I was just saying it would be great to have a bit more from the ending. Everything I mentioned is part of the ending, it's just not shown... Still, the ending is well done, B-12's part in it will bring tears to your eyes! Hope you enjoy the rest of the game :)

As a cat owner i can tell you one thing those cat animations are really on point , the cat turning around , walking , running , the way he put his feed while climbing all that cat movement is done amazingly.

this is a 10/10 for me. Had cats my entire life and can say that the animations, sounds and quirks of the cat are just on point. The music is 10/10. The story is just the right lenght for you to enjoy and not be swallowed by the 10.000 side quest that adds to nothing. Great vibe, and played it in one go. Would recommend.
I have to give props to the composer of this game, both the synth vibes and the sheets of music you get are all super cool and interesting, would love the sound track for the Sheets music song in itself tbh!
Stray is also listed as a "free" title under PS Plus Extra. For anyone who hasn't upgraded from Essential to Extra yet, it's actually cheaper to do that than it is to purchase this game outright.

Seems like a prototypical "indie" game, in the classic and best sense. A short, self contained experience....with a unique, if not niche, idea, for its foundation. Im glad games like this are still being made. Im sure ill check it out eventually....

This was an amazing and accurate review, but I think rather than having a whole new part, the part with Zbaltzar in Antvillage felt a bit short and could have easily been lengthened and played out better! This doesn't change the fact that the game was incredible, though, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It was like an emotional rollercoaster, lol!

I’m playing the game on PS5 and just hit my second hour of game play and I really don’t want the game to come to an end. It’s so amazing, visually everything looks so beautiful. The characters, the animations, the sounds, it’s straight up a 10/10 for me. This game is really all I needed rn to chill out and forget the world around me. I hope there’s gonna be a sequel some day

I found out that you could meow to the camera in the beginning and that the camera started nodding it was awesome. honestly really liked this game, i'm usually always feeling stressed out and this game really just got me relaxing and enjoying the journey. I will also agree that the ending to me was a bit lacking however other than that I really enjoyed my time slowly exploring the world at my own pace. Great video

Another chill, relaxing game, is Seasons After Fall...side scrolling platform puzzle game where you play a spirit in the body of a cute fox...the whole game looks like an oil painting, and has beautiful music...
You don’t have to be a cat lover to like this game. You just have to like GOOD GAMES. This one definitely tells the story it wants to without overstaying its welcome. I’ve only had three bugs happen and they didn’t take me out the game at all.(1 frame drop, and 2 no clips) definitely worth playing

There's a beauty to a short experience of a game that you just don't see much nowadays. A game where the devs can focus on a simple, though deliberate experience can convey something that larger open-world games simply can't. We've become so wrapped up in having the most entertainment per dollar so that we always have something to do that we miss out having truly meaningful experiences.
BotW is both. The only open world game I've truly enjoyed the entire time I was playing.

i loved the atmosphere. i finished it in one sitting with my cat sleeping on the couch next to me. i think the length of the game is perfect considering the simplistic game mechanics. if the games was longer, i suspect it would've felt repetitive really fast because there are just a few ways to interact with the world.
Yours slept? My two tried to introduce themselves to the cat on the screen on multiple occasions, and even answered every time a cat meowed during the game! I do not usually play games with speakers on, but the result was just too amusing to not do so!
@@alganhar1 mine is so desensitised to all the bird videos cat videos & shit i put on the living room tv that he doesn't react to anything on the screen any more. i had to turn my balcony to a magpie/parrot hangout spot to entertain my cat. i probably spend more time every day cleaning up bird poop on by balcony than cat poop in the litter.
"Graphics were good"?? They were stunning. I loved every place because the colours were unbelievably beautiful. I'd say definitely an understatement there
the lighing was amazing. just in clementine's apartment alone you have rooms with purple, orange, yellow, blue lighting, and then outside in the street you have very japanese-like red neon ligthting, i just had to take a screenshot there, the aesthetics look great.

I work a shitty retail job, with hours ranging from 12-7 to the terrible 10-7 shifts. I just picked this up an hour or 2 ago and I'm loving it. I've given the musician like 4 sheets of music and just slept next to him while he played. The story so far is being beautifully told, and considering that its on like $30-$40, it's amazingly priced. The devs for this did well

@@UltraObama well apparently the prices are different elsewhere because Extra puts the subscription from $79.99 CAD to $114.99, and they now charge sales tax on ps store so I had to pay $132.24 for the extra package. Yes it was worth it but I can definitely see why someone wouldn’t want to do it.

I'm 53% through on the PS5 and really enjoying it, the design, pacing, gameplay is all excellent imo...The game could've done with a photo mode though I think, the lighting, subject matter and design would've made for some fantastic "Photos"
Will probably get an official photomode soon. Even if that's not possible on consoles, PC version will get a photomode mod.
windows has screen capture built in. just press ctl+printscreen, which will copy the screen to the clipboard, then just paste in any image program.

There needs to be more games like this. My first animal game I played was a game called A Dog's life, it was so awesome. I wish there Waa more games like that, this is a good start

I played that game when it Came out in the mid 2000s at a Circuit City de o and only had Memories but never hear anyone talk about it
This game was so goddamn surprisingly fun. Playing as an everyday alley cat just struggling to get by was just everything I needed working a stressful 9-5 job. My expectations were low for this game, but at the end of the day I would rate this an 8 out of 10. Great game.

I finished playing this game yesterday and as a person who like chill games I recommend. I will say that the points where things got scary were better than I expected after they were over for I am weak about playing horror games. (This is not one its definitely a puzzle/ strategy game). I also spent time trying to get a lot of the achievements and finished the game at about 9 hours. I really loved the art, music, story which made the game really enjoyable. The only big downside sometimes was little glitches for example I had to restart at one point cause I got stuck under a bed with no escape, and the camera movement would get overwhelming at times. But overall it's a great time to unwind and relax.
I never thought a game about a cat in a post apocalyptic future where every person has been replaced by robots would be so adorable

One of the children I care for is mentally disabled, but is simultaneously a savant. She’s followed and waited for this game to come out since she first saw it. For people like her, this is perfection. She sees the world differently from us. It did much for her heart, because she’s been waiting with bated breath for silk song. Really glad this came along to give her something she’s looked forward to.

Downloaded this today and already finished it! Agree with pretty much everything in this before you buy! It's pretty short and now I want more, I want to explore that world more! Playing as an animal is always nice, like in one of my favourite games Okami. Loved this game and hope animal protagonists games catch on! Creates such a different perspective.

Annapurna games are always short, simple and very limited... Journey, 12 Minutes, Stray... it is exactly what I expected. A good, solid short game with simple mechanics. Nothing AAA extraordinary.

Since most AAA games seem so repetitive nowadays.. looking at you Ubisoft, I love how refreshingly different their games are. I really only have time to play games on free weekends currently, so I really appreciate a short but amazing game experience more than AAA games right now.
It was a very simple, laid back, type of game. I loved it and 100% it. I do not normally do that with games but this one was different. It took me 11 hours to beat, but I took my time and explored everything. Whoa, Peet!

Someone should make a coop game where you play as a pride of lions hunting other animals in games. There's a lot of potential with controlling animals and other creatures. Unfortunately big studios aren't willing to take a risk on something like that.

Stray is such a unique and refreshing palate cleanser of a game. Simple, immersive, and utterly charming.
I found myself looking for places to take a cat nap, enjoying the way the camera slowly pans out to stop at a scenic panorama, complete with a quiet purr from my kitty.
Although the ending leaves you hanging just a bit, it's truly a game worth having.
I can say I definitely needed this game. It helped me relax whenever I was having a tough time. The vibes and gameplay are impeccable.
Have 9 cats (4 are kittens in foster) and I'm looking forward to loading this up tonight after work. Two of my kittens love sitting in front of the TV and "helping me" by putting their paws on where the "bad guys" are, so I'm excited to see what they do when the main focus is a cat.
I’ve been interested in this for some time. I hope this opens the door for more normal animal protagonist games. The way they move and view the world is much different than us. I hope I can get my hands on this game soon.
I am beyond pleased that everyone (including me) loves this game. It was talked about many years ago - way before it was officially announced - and I've been waiting and waiting. It's AMAZING. Now I want another one. 😂
I personally loved that the game didn't go with the constant ramping up of intensity until you get to the end and your exhausted and glad it's over. I do agree that maybe one more act would have really sealed it but I found it so refreshing that I didn't have some impossible final mission tarnish the story for me.
The music in this game is honestly incredible. The most I've been excited about a new sound in years. It is so unique and forward thinking but still grounded and that is some feat. Amazing.
Maybe if it does well we'll get more content for it.
Not every game needs to be a 20+ hour adventure, sometimes a few hour game (looking at you Unpacking) is just perfect to chill too in between killing bosses in Elden Ring.
Hopefully the PC performance will be good enough that I can play it since I don't own anything newer than a PS3 in the Sony department.
Right, it's one of the reasons I really enjoy Roguelite/likes which are also perfect in-between games, just doing a few runs here and there and always progressing in some way.

I think the main thing it could use outside of what he said is making your own cat and customizing the breed and look, color etc. but could be something they add in later
4hrs doesn’t seem worth $30 to me. Not asking for 20+ but 8-10hrs would be worth $30. I don’t want to buy a game & beat it the same day. This is definitely a game I’ll pick up on sale though, or if they add new content

The game is so eerie and relaxing at the same time. The story is so simple yet existential. The environments are breathtaking. The control is smooth as glass. The star of the game is the robots, not the cat. I want a part two. I want DLC. I WANT MORE! ❤
I must be a good few hours in and I've only just reached the village after the sewers. I love just vibing while the car sleeps and the atmospheric music plays while the camera zooms out over the landscape. It's so fun and cute lol.
Everything I've seen im so happy that its even here. I appreciate you guys for these videos, watching these for years now and so happy to think you guys could be the robots in this game still making the next before you buy for the hottest new game!

Picked it up last night, had a few rough days but having soft purring come out of your controller was incredibly soothing.
playing through this now and its crazy how spot on they got the cat animations
judging from what this review says im hoping we get some dlc or additional things towards the end later in its life
So they cut some of the fake which is why it feels incomplete to sell you the ending later as a DLC

The game was amazing, felt good at the end. Love the companion ship between the cat and some of the robots I just wish I found all the memories
I really enjoyed this cute, fun and interesting game. I would have liked it to be slightly longer, still could be short just feel like another chapter would have been nice. I loved everything but I agree I too was a little disappointed by the ending, I was left wanting more... I was like what, no, is that it? But what about X, Y and Z?! I was not satisfied. I was hoping for a much longer end sence and having my questions answered. But apart from that I definitely recommend this game 😻
