- Stray reviewed by Tom Marks on PlayStation 5, also available on PC and PlayStation 4. Stray is a delightful adventure in a dark but endearingly hopeful cyberpunk world, and that’s thanks in no small part to the fact that you are playing as an adorable cat the whole time. Its mix of simple platforming and puzzles with item-hunting quests is balanced very well across the roughly five-hour story.

I've never understood why on earh there are not more animal sims. The perfect way to produce novel gameplay and visually you can make even the mundane appear interesting because you are seeing it from a new perspective.
Thousands of feral parakeets from all over the city roost in a park near my house. For about an hour before bed, they do low flying, death-defying aerobatics together and catch up about the day's adventures. Wtf is that not a game yet? You could basically do San Andreas where all missions are the RC plane ones and you're a parakeet ffs.
We need Tokyo Jungle 2
That'd be an interesting way to experience storytelling.

FYI, other reviewers have stated the main story takes about 6-10 Hrs if you do all the side quests and collect all the collectibles. So, it's still short, but not too short where they didn't feel they didn't get their money's worth, nor did the premise overstay it's welcome. Quality over quantity.
Yeah, I'd take a short but meaningful game over a Ubisoft style bland 20+ hours game that's padded by boring filler content anytime.

That sounds like a reasonable length for a game like this. Any longer would probably get really repetitive.

In my opinion, the most heartwarming moment I’ve ever seen in a video game was actually shown in a photo at 2:57 in this video even though he doesn’t cover it. The cat, gives a musician a sheet of music paper and the musician robot says he’s going to practice, you then curl up next to him and he slowly strums you to sleep with beautiful music playing. I’ll repeat it again, arguably the most heartwarming moment in any video game/video game history.

Best thing ever.
For a gamer who likes to praise graphics, animation and mechanics (and sometimes cleverly executed puzzles).
Stray blew me away like a hurricane.
Glorified walking simulator with Skyrim level puzzles, and no manual jumping.
Some people enjoy “walking simulators” and the developers were way more dedicated to the exploration and atmosphere than they were to the puzzle and platforming elements. Some people won’t like that and that’s fine, but the former two were enough to satisfy me.
Manual jumping wouldn’t make any sense given how articulate cats are with their movement and where they jump to, that complaint is far less valid than the former two.

Seems like Kena Bridge of Spirits from last year in that it will be a fun, graphically pleasing experience that doesn't require a huge time sink. We need these kinds of games sometimes. Breaks up the monotony of all of these open-world games trying to pump 40+ hours out of you. Shadow Warrior 3 and Concrete Genie too.
Love this game and waiting for it since the first announcement. But knowing it doesn't allow us to freely jump is a little bit disappointed. Can anyone who has played tell me if it really affects the exploring experience?
Nah it doesn't really affect exploring experience but rather makes it slightly easier
Not all games need a jump button, but more games definitely need a "meow" button
Nah the exploring experience honestly would have been worse if it was free jumping
From what I've seen from watching oyhers play it, it makes some parts be a bit of a puzzle on it own figuring out how to get from one spot to another
