Back in the day of the late 1800s in Britain, there were multiple sports that went by the name of football, the two prominent ones being association football and rugby football. Since the U.S. still had strong connections with the UK, the same sports were played in both countries. In 1998 the International Federation of American Football was established and currently has 105 member nations. 11 in Africa, 21 in North and South America, 27 in Asia, 4 in Oceania, and believ it or not, Europe has the most member nations with 41.

This isnt even a competion about 85 percent of the worlds favourite sport is Futbol. Im embarrased to be American due to the fact that many of them think American football is better than European futbol honestly. My heart will always be with this beautiful game.
Futbol isn't the most popular sport in China, India or the U.S. (that is almost 50% of worlds population there and the 3 most populous countries). It might be tied with basketball or table tennis in China. Nor is it the most popular in Australia, Canada or Ireland. China has never scored a goal in WC and India has never played a match.
I shake my head at how many people criticize the U.S. for trying to commercialize the rest of the world with monotonous products and hegemony, then use the same argument to justify their favorite sport as being superior (McDonalds and Coke everywhere = bad, futbol = superior sport!).

I believe the number one reason a person chooses any sport is because at some point in their youth all of the people in their family and community got excited about some sporting event. Whatever that sport was, that is what that person ended up liking.

This is only a debate in the US. Pretty much the whole world agrees that football/soccer is better than American football. If American football was the best, then surely more people would like it around the world. American movies and culture are popular worldwide, as are some of it's other sports, such as basketball, but American football is just not popular outside of the US.
The fact that Americans are debating whether a foreign sport such as soccer is better than their own football should tell you something. I can absolutely guarantee you that no soccer nation is even considering having this debate, because American football is not even on their radar.

First and foremost, in a regular season, a draw equals 1 point, and that 1 extra point is crucial on deciding who can be champion of the league during may. In a two legged competition like the champions league, a 0-0 means you haven't conceded an away goal, and come second leg, as long as the game is a tie, you can advance to the next round. So there is actually a lot to celebrate with a 0-0 scoreline. :P
