Whenever I see a video of someone biking though the desert, I always have the same questions about water. How much water did you have to carry, and how frequently did you encounter places to refill?
Never more than 4 litres each. We could re-fill at least twice a day in Jordan.

Alee this is a real pearler of a video, mate it easy to see why you rave about the scenery.👍👍. I see you have a kick stand on your Koga, good lad👍👍. Saves the paint work and keeps sand out of your paniers, but your mate doesn't have one, naughty girl why?? A lightweight idea that works well to stop your kick stand disappearing in the sand (and mud). Cut a piece of ply or 10mm custom wood 150mm square, Araldite (or bolt) a plastic water bottle top in the centre. Pop this under your kick stand in loose sand and your bike won't fall over. Being light I keep mine under a strap on my rear rack - convenient. How would touring on a 20" folding bike with 50mm wide tyres and an 11 speed Shimano Alfine hub and Gates drive with seat suspension go for touring in Jordan. Works quite well on Cambodia's dirt roads. Keep up the great work on these videos mate. I'll donate as soon as I'm clear of these current stroke probs I have.
Laura's kickstand broke pretty much the day we started filming. She got a new one straight away, but she was so sad while it was no longer there. It's impossible to go back...

I love the videos brother! You have convinced me to build my own custom belt drive bike. The frame is a steel frame from Bombtrack called Outlaw. It will run 650b paired with a Rohloff 500/14. I normally took my Kona unit hardtail and would swap put the fork depending on trip. I have decided to finally take the plunge and go belt.

I found that when approaching the territory of an aggressive dog that is "apparently" confined behind a fence watch for this tell: If, instead of pacing you along the length of the fence, the dog races ahead and along the fence line, there's a very good chance the dog is heading to an exit ahead 😬 so check ahead and be prepared🙂

We are tandem cycle veterans (experienced AND old 😅) and just now I am crocked up in bed, recovering from hysterectomy and planning our next trip… Jordan seems so stunning! The only thing is we just couldn’t manage most of the off track bits on our tandem. How much could we do on paved roads? Wishing you continuing beautiful travels xxx

Incredible film! It is always nice to see something on a bicycle. I have one doubt, how do you ensure the security of your bike and stuff in such trips as well as in places like the heritage sites?
We usually leave our bikes at hotels, restaurants or with the hosts we stay with.

I broke the Ortlieb handlebar bag cable halfway through! The first one I've ever broken, but I did pull this one off an old bike, so I can only blame myself. 😅

Thanks! I licence the music from Soundstripe and just look for songs that fit the mood I want to create.
Nice video of the “best” part of the JBT. I rode it in 2019 and this brought back a lot of great memories of exploring Petra and Wadi Rum. I’m just wondering what happened to the footage of the other 3/4 of the trail Alee?!
I just enjoyed the other 3/4. Filming takes a huge amount of time and energy.

Maybe a range (low- high) or budget you estimate, and then what is spent on food, lodging, etc. Can you please offer some guidance. Always Enthusiastic, Troy :)
The cost is whatever you want it to be. $5 per day, $20 per day, $400 per day! We were probably spending $10-20 on food per day and a hotel every 4 days for $40-50. Pretty economical.
When they offered you a full cup its a good sign. A half cup means u should be going soon.

I follow another bikepacker on YT and she also went on the Jordan Bike Trail. She and her companion experienced something very different with the children along the road: they were being shouted at by the children, also rock throwing was a huge problem.
Guard dogs for the life stock were also very scary.
Have you experienced anything like this?

We only had nice children along the way. The dogs can get pretty scary, but they're not particularly aggressive if you've experienced Turkey, Iran or pretty much anywhere in Latin America!

Can you provide some insights how you protected/ prepared your bikes for all that sand? Doesn’t it increase the wear dramatically on brakes, drivetrain etc?
We didn't do any preparation as dry sand is not hard on a bike. Wet sand though... best to avoid that if you can!

A spectacular video of a fantastic trip. Any dog problems? A bikepacker Katrin Hollendung youtube’d frequent and very unpleasant dog problems, which keeps me from turning the handlebar in the direction.
