I watched your 6 months to fluency video (for french, which was super inspirational) and got conversational in Thai in 9 months 😂 Finally a video related to Thai!! I’m so excited!
Damn... I'm only 13, was born in Canada, but I speak Spanish and Portuguese fluently.. I'm really interested in learning french, but it's too hard.. I only know a few words.
Do you have any tips to learn languages like french?

I speak 8 languages:
English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hakka- C2/native
Thai, Korean-B2
French A2-B1
Malay A1
Each language has its own learning method, but in general, this is what I do:
In the beginning phase, I would go for a beginner’s program that is effective (just like what Ikenna always recommends)
When I reach a phase where I got the hang of generally how the language works, I start searching all over the internet for resources and reading materials, and start using italki🌟
eg TTMIK/ howtostudykorean/ clare you intermediate korean/ womenlearnthai etc.
I make a google sheet jotting down everything I learnt on it, with one column being the TL and one with translations, then I import everything to Quizlet (for learning the words) and Smartcards+ (for long term memory just like Anki)
I studied French at school, so I didn’t use this method (equivalent to Ikenna’s Spanish experience)
As for Korean, I got to B2 in 5.5 months (by using the above mentioned) and Thai B2 in 10 months (I started watching Ikenna’s videos when I was 5 months in learning Thai at university 🌧 so my progress went slower...)

I'm Thai. But I think a Thai language is harder than Japanese and other languages that I were learned before lol. and Ikenna is my inspiration to learn a language by myself. (I'm only 15 but I can speak more than 4 languages haha. I'm so proud myself)

Emerging yourself in the country and culture is a good way to learn the language or at least gather all the words and phrases you learnt on the plane ride there to survive 🤣🤣

Thai language can be a little difficult because it has metaphors and analogies. I love your channel. You inspired me to re learn French and Japanese. I'm starting with japanese because it seems to click faster then the French.

Man... finally do I have a language that you spoked not so good as usual!! the thing with Thaï is that, if your pronunciation is just a little bit off, then you will be very hard to understand.
When you said beautiful: "Suu aii" even I knew you tried to say beautiful I had did understand until your 3rd time saying it..
If you said it a bit off it will sound more like "suu ai" which means screwed or unlucky. So you say to a thai woman that she is "suu ai" then she will hear it as she is screwed/unlucky.

@@ExploreWithJojo1864 faster you learn how to read (even if u do a word every 10 secs if very good) will boost everything. Been in thai for 6 months and learninf how to read put me head of everyone in my group ( im exchange student and there are 6 other ppl in my club)

Thai is quite easy since it's my 1st language, but there is a lot of high like err vowels i think that's what you call for example Krap, Karp^^ ( higher vowel ), I think you'll understand.

I'm half Thai, my mother is Thai and I do feel a bit ashamed that I can't speak it even a little bit other than string few words together. If you struggle with communicating with Thai people, you can use translators to speak with them. It doesn't have to be perfectly on point, they understand what you want from the rough translation. Thai people are naturally helpful, even when they don't know or can't solve something for you, they want to help regardless.

I'm also a language lover that lives in Krabi, Thailand. You saw a ling (monkey) and chang (elephant). Watch the tone on "beautiful", if said in the wrong tone it can mean the words "bad luck", not beautiful. :)
