- Rolly Crump is one of the most respected Imagineers in history. He helped design attractions like The Haunted Mansion, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and It's a Small World. Earlier this year, I was invited to Oceanside California to attend the Oceanside International Film Festival. I was given the opportunity to sit down and talk to Rolly and ask him some questions. Maybe we'll all learn something new about Disneyland from this Q&A!
Big thank you to Sterling Arno for setting this entire thing up! Without Sterling, there would have been no interview.
Also huge shoutout to DoleWhipDame, Maddy, and everyone else who was able to meet up at the Star Theatre. I loved meeting each and every single one of you and hearing your stories. Hopefully next time I'll have a little longer time to hang out with all of you. :)

Didn’t expect to see you here TPMvids 😅 I love your videos!!!
love your content. and Rolly Crump is a legend!
"Dallon" is his normal person name, "Offhand Disneyland" is his superhero name.
My two heroes sitting next to each other. Amazing.
:D
Anyone else think Rolly looks a bit like Carl from Up?
I've always thought this. First day I met him Instantly drew that similarity.
"HI MISTER FREDERICKSON PLEASE LET ME IN"
Meta Pod a little bit but I had a history teacher in his 70s that looked exactly like Carl from up.
Dislikes are from Universal fans
The Nerd eyes literally zero dislikes.
Saying it in advance😂
The Nerd Herd literally my friend she hates Disney for no reason
That sucks tell her to get herself together mentally😂
That's funny because there is only one.
That's awesome you got to interview Mr Krump. I got to meet Marty Sklar at a Q&A at the California State Railroad Museum in January. That whole generation of imagineers add filled with some many great stories are an inspiration to us all.
RIP Mr. Sklar
RIP truly a amazing man thank you for everything
Our family had passed down and was very proud of a story that our great grandpa had helped designed "it's a small world". It was not untill a few months ago when I finally sat down with him and asked him to tell us how it was to take part of that project since every time we ride it we remind our kids great grandpa helped to design it. Anyways I learned that he was actually never part of that project but he did help design the roads leading to Disney.... (The it's a small works was more interesting to the kids! Lol😂) Aswesome interview.
I legit cheered when they called your name and you stood up!! What an awesome experience, Dallin! So glad you got to do that :)
I went there! SO happy to see you posted it I LOVED meeting Rolly too!
Thank you so much for coming to our festival and being part of Rolly's event! I truly appreciate it! - Sterling
Just found your channel and have been going back through the old vids. It's awesome that you got to interview a legend like Rolly. I first saw him on Disney+ Behind the Attractions and I loved his stories. May he rest in peace.
Rest in peace, Rolly. Feeling thankful we can all come back to this great interview.
Reminds me of Bob Gurr. Obviously, they are both highly respected original Imagineers it makes sense for them to be similar. I wish I could do what you do. I could talk about Disneyland all day, especially with the people who helped to shape it into the park we know now. Great interview. Glad you got to meet one of the Disney greats.
I'd love to just sit with rolly with some coffee and just listen to all his wonderful stories. Such a Friendly man .
So cool that you got to meet Rolly! He and Bob Gurr are two of my biggest inspirations!
Literally interviewing a legend! So happy for you bro!
Mr. Smith,

This is so cool! What an amazing opportunity
Oceanside had a film festival?! Why wasn't I aware of this?!! Great job with the interview, though.
Yes we do!! Please come out and be apart of it next year!! We'd love to have in house with us
Rolly rules! He and I share a birthday. Plus he lives a couple of miles south of me. He had the best artwork in the park but they were all so good back then. Thanks for interviewing him :)
Really nice job on this! Can you provide details of the documentary referred to a couple of times? I'd like to see it!
So jealous! We are at the park twice a week if you ever need anything. 😀
Huge thanks to Dallin right back! The Oceanside Film Festival's opening night wouldn't of been the same without his participation in what was truly an amazing presentation with Rolly.
You should've asked him what happened to the original hatbox ghost... I know it was taken out after a few days, but where did it go. Imagineers had to start from scratch when building the new hatbox ghost for Disneyland's 60th anniversary?
Great video
You are so cute, this video was the best thing I've ever seen
lol Rolly is so cute. WHY DIDN'T YOU ASK HIM ABOUT JEAN LAFITTE!?!?!?!??!
I was wondering the same thing
He'd most likely have no idea what I was talking about haha
You never know, he could've been the mastermind behind Lafitte
Wow!! What an amazing opportunity! So cool, you did a great job
You should do a video about some rolly crump facts! I'd like to know more about him & what all he did for Disney & the parks
Great video keep up the good work😜😜😜
Nice work Dallin, I'm enjoying all of your videos. Haunted Mansion is my favorite, I had the distinct pleasure of riding it first in 1969 just after it opened. I was 13 at the time, and went through it 13 times. That was a lot of E coupons to beg from your parents!
This is amazing. What a great opportunity for you. You look like you're a little bit in heaven up there.
_"You may not know this individual, but he knows Disneyland. He knows things about Disneyland that probably Walt may not have known about... We have our questionnaire general."_ It's all coming together! It's all coming together! There's our handsome man up there! :)
Orland! Roland....I mean Rolly! 😄
I never knew his name was Dallin Smith!
Cool name Dallon! And amazing job with the interview!
I wish someone would have asked him whatever happened to the Tower after the Fair. There's an unfounded belief that it ended up at the bottom of Flushing Bay.
I loved this interview. You are my idol
This was so cool that you got to do this.
This is awesome!
What an awesome introduction! 👏👏👏Great job!
ive been waiting for this
surprised you didnt ask about lafitte
very cool :)
You lucky boy
Wow after hearing only your voice all this while, you're actually quite a good-looking guy.. lol
Very cool ☺
YOURE SO LUCKY
Cool!!!
it is like most of the people there were like his age
Fuckin rights buds atta boy
It's really weird to see my face in that crowd.
Good video
Will you interview any other imagineers? OOOOOHHH INTERVIEW ALICE DAVIS
Yes pls.
tony baxter! :D
What was the propeller story didn’t understand
Well done with the Interview, but Rolly wasn't responsible for the Haunted Mansion, the Tiki Room, or Small World. The only things he did that made it into the Mansion were the designs of the wallpaper and one chair. I believe he was basically Yale Gracey's assistant. He got on TV with Walt for his "Museum of the Weird," but they never used any of that (unless I'm mistaken?) He designed the Totem Poles outside the Tiki Room, and I guess he created the facade for Small World. He was, however, the lead on the Land pavilion at Epcot. His major claim to fame is that he outlived the more important Imagineers, and therefore has a lot of CZcams interviews. Now Bob Gurr, on the other hand--there's a contributor!
Where do you do most of your research? Books? Online? Idk just guessing
Books, mostly. If I don't already know a lot about the subject, I have a book shelf full of Walt Disney and Disneyland and Disney World books.
Hi offhand it's me terrific tnt I got a new channel but I'm back yay
