- POP SUCKS! and here is prove of that. I understand many of this people are rapers or whatever you want to call them, seams like they are just pretending to be singers.
On the first part I got a lot of comments saying how stupid my video was but I think some people are more stupid for listening this sort of music, everything they talk about is "wet p*ssy" trying to brain wash you so they make more money.
Lets give a chance to real artists in the music industry. Whatever those artist are and whatever type of music they play.
Minute 1:34 is Marco Hietala singing one of his solo album songs. Pyre of the Black Heart.
Awesome! 😎
keep marco and floor away, they are not comparable 🤣
I literally came to the comments looking for this song name. Thank you

It is a fact that most metal musicians are more musically talented than pop artists, try and change my mind
Hi there. I'm not going to change your mind.
@@yuyirv6764 Sounds good lol 👍
@@disturbiafromthebay Heard to many great heavy metal vocalists to have my mind changed as well. However, there are some great pop vocalists, like unforunately late Whitney Houston and Marie Fredriksson-when you hear them sing,it's out of world experience.Shame we'll never get singers like them ever again.
@@hillclimbracingfan5821 Yeah, there are definitely some great pop singers, but I think I’m general, most of the time especially now, Metal singers are better
@@disturbiafromthebay Might be,but i don't think any of female metal vocalists can touch Whitney or Marie and you have to be really crazy to put down high quality vocal, regardless of the genre,in favour of metal vocalist just because you think they're better than others.Every genre has great and bad vocalists and that's the way it is and while i do agree that metal vocalists are talented, there are some pop vocalists who can sing in way metal vocalists can't and other way around.Coming from metalhead and rocker in soul and i definetely won't put down high quality pop vocal, especially someone who can sing with emotion and is damn good.

That was super embarrassing lmao

Just see this shit, if one of your favorite artists sings like shit for any reason you won't still complaining about it but if one of the other ones do it better you're just trying to make noise saying whatever you can to offend them
@@EliSpectwo Doing whatever I can to offend them? Hm, then I'm curious about what you're doing... and my favourite artists never sing like shit because I choose to listen to artists who can actually sing. Without autotune.
Bieber is ok for a pop singer, he’s actually able to sound ok unlike a lot of male pop singers.
I guess to put it another way, if you threw Bieber in my ears my complaint would be the lyrics/music rather than his vocals.
Holy shit, why would someone butcher Queen’s song like that?
That was Kanye and idk why he did it
To much ego, nowhere near enough skill.
He didn't quite butcher it; if he can't hit the notes he will let the audience sing it. Cheap "talent."

Actually the best female metal singer seems to be unknown to many: Anneke van Giersbergen. Example: czcams.com/video/Y46Lft_BZxo/video.html
@@Hy-jg8ow correct me if I'm wrong, but that name I thought, belonged to a different face. Did this singer though join Sharon & Within Temptation once?
There's ton of great pop singers and tons of shitty ones just like there's ton of amazing metal vocalists and tons of bad ones. The difference being in metal, the bad ones don't get recognition like the bad pop ones do.
The most underrated singers who are genuinely beautiful but never receive recognition are folk artists, particularly Irish folk.
Because pop is based off aesthetics and what sells.
I don’t think pop ( the genre itself)suck, I think singers are the problem , they need more preparation, technique and compromise
The Metal singers, look so profesional and prepare with good vocal technique
Also I didn’t know some of the some of the songs/ singers in this video

I completely agree!
Agree as well. I noticed that (the) pop singers in this vid seem to cramp with their whole body when it came to higher notes. Bad mistake, even I know that. If I do so, I always must cough. Yes, it sounds ok or even good but it isn't good at all, neither for the body nor for the voice.
no, pop is sucks!
Problem with pop is it doesn't give the vocalists room to show skill and power like metal does because its too processed and generic. Thats what sells though.

Honestly, i dont really get why yall are so mad against pop ? Some could argue that metal is a poor musical genre with few diversity in it, basically construct with loud backsound, screaming and some randoms singing in a musical theater style
Kanye's singing, without exaggeration, made me double and scratch the wall in pain. I actually panted in pain a bit afterwards. I had no idea sound could cause such a reaction on my body x_x
What i love best about this video is the fact that as far as I am aware all of the pop singers first languages are English whereas the metal singers are mostly European and may not be native English speakers and yet seem to have a better control of the language while singing than the pop singers do. That is why I love rock/metal music
Not just singing. Writing too.
Foreign accents work better with vowel shapes.
It’s funny, I’m not a professional at all, but I’m looking at these pop singers and noticing really basic technical mistakes. It might just be a stylistic choice, but some of those mistakes can really hurt their voice.
Its because they think they can sing all those notes without any issue
That's part of what hurt Britney.
They can't sing
The good singers came in the 80's, these days pop singers are wannabes who have no talent what so ever

Yes: most metal singers are A LOT better and more competent than most pop singer.
Yes: most metal music is A LOT more complex and articulated than most pop.
Did you ever wonder why people listens to pop more, despite that?
Because pop is prosy by its own nature, and people don't always want to experience what is best but rather what is familiar for them.
There is no harm in that, let people enjoy what they like, even if it's not the best, ok?

Pop is literally "popular" aka more advertised and forced into your view while the singers dont have enough talent to carry themselves more than maybe a decade while metal singers literally go on for more than 50 years on their own just by word of mouth from fans.

From a musicians point of view:
I only care about who has better tonality and overall control. I've plenty of good singers that have shit tonality and constantly change pitch mid song or hell mid key which really fucking drives me mental.
As long as they can sing on key, on pitch, and have clear punctuation and I enjoy they're music then I'm good.
I think timbre and tone is very important in hard rock and heavy metal. Lyrics are really almost secondary.
Honestly im a metalhead but i don't really think we can really compare those two kind of styles, even if i rly don't like Justin Bieber or Kanye West

I mean just look at when crowds sing, pop versus metal, pop artists think they deserve they crowd sing for them, metal artists always bask in the crowds glory when they sing for/with them! So many metal artists are so humble.
You know it's a pop artist if it sounds like whining
What I love about the rock/metal genre over pop, is that rock/metal is raw talent. Voices are naturally powerful and hearing the grain in the voices of some vocalists just adds to that raw talent. It's that sweet imperfection that makes them perfect.

I love both pop and metal, I don’t understand why we feel the need to bring one genre down to uplift another.
I think it's just a way to build one's self-esteem. People often feel the need to prove that their taste in whatever is superior and then pat each other on the back within the community. Objectively, yeah, metal does seem to have higher standards when it comes singing, pop and metal music industries are very different, and the former is focused on many things apart from the music itself, which might be partly responsible for that difference in quality. However, saying that "pop sucks" is simply an opinion, taste in music is actually an aquired thing, our brain simply likes the sounds it knows and recognizes, so going "oh, the sounds MY brain likes are better than the ones YOURS does" is um...kind of stupid.
Exactly. I think it’s just to feel some sort of superiority complex for whatever reason. Why can’t we just agree to disagree?
@@laurengibbs6940 Metal objectively requires more technical ability [thus effort and time invested] to play and produce, some of us respect that over easily manufactured music. Not to mention that on the listener's side metal being sometimes really intricate and complex requires more than 1 listen to fully appreciate a song, sometimes a song even requires multiple listens to really shine. Its work put into it from both sides, musicians and listeners. In contrast most - not all - pop music is made for easy listening and fast consumption, its tasty like a burger sometimes, but it doesn't compare with grandma's real nutritious home-cooking. Metal is simply a more "nutritious" music....for the soul.

When you did that horrific cover of queen the metal reaction should have been the Wilson sisters covering stairway to heaven (it’s incredible) or Marko and Nightwish covering high hopes, but admittedly that would have been kicking pop when it was down lol
The mixture of vocal styles gives the impression of a fallen angel beauty and evil living side by side. Metal singers can sing you to sleep or scare you to death. Metal singers have gorgeous voices and guttural characters all rolled into one voice.
Would've loved Katy Perry's "Roar" beaten down by Tatiana's actual Roars \m/
Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine, Lana Del Rey, Marina, Nightwish, New Years Day, In This Moment, JINJER, Unleash the Archers and Septicflesh. Love their music. 🖤🎼🎵🎶❤
I am a metal head and hardly listen to pop,but I can ,for example, see people preferring Beyonce over Floor. She has a beautiful voice and music is not all about hitting high notes all the time but being able to convey emotions with the right technique. Its for the same reason when I say to people that I prefer Amy Lee over Tarja - its the ability of Lee's voice to touch my emotions and make me feel some type of way while Tarja just doesn't do it at the same level for me with her classical and predictable sining. Now,dont hate me for my opinion.Music is a subjective thing.
@Joce C great reply, haha, i can say the same thing to him, floor and tarja makes me feel different deep emotions vs pop singers. Many nightwish and metal songs i can feel it emotionally and spiritually.
@Joce C yes, you take the point with this misunderstanding: singing is only a fact of ❤️ or someone MAYBE can study TECHNIQUES and improve expression by STUDYING THE STORY OF MUSIC????? I think that there is a gain of expressivity when you study classical music (the top of what human kind could reach with instruments and complexity...). The demonstration???? If I sing and don't know what is a dorian scale I'm like a worker that doesn't know what is a drill. Period. So theory and practising MUST be the first day in the school, to not create an ignorant environment where people think that lady gaga is good. Or hundreds like her.
No. We enter in a paradox. And the paradox is autotune. They don't sing, but talk. And often they don't have the time to be defined musicians. Music is the art of sounds, when you stop using sounds but synthetic instruments to make it acceptable... It's cheating for me. Like doping
We cannot hate you for an opinion don't worry 🙂🙂. But in my opinion there is a pyramid when we talk about everything. Top expression and top technique mix... That can be not be liked to the most people. Maybe for 💰 reasons, like... Is more famous Amy winehouse because is not more alive? Or kurt cobain? Music is the same but they are more than that. They are geniuses... I don't know why obviously

For opera truly wins the vocal challenge.
Where was within temptation
Playing metal, drums, guitar, vocals, lyrics, bass,...demands so much knowledge control and skills. Ppl always think it’s chaotic, dark, brutal,... What they don’t know, most of them had classical schooling (epica and others ever opera vocals) and are in absolute control of their vocals, grunting and screaming asks so much skill and knowledge of breathing etcetera

If Anette had just stayed in her lane and played to her strengths, she probably would have accomplished a lot more. This video is a great example. @akhilesh Vijay Pop used to be great, with truly talented artists, but today it's not even a shadow of greatness it once was,but in my opinion,if you want truly great and quality music, regardless of genre(pop included),then dig in underground and ignore mainstream, since mostly they play worthless "made to make money" music while true talents are vastly ignored due to people brainwashed because of beeing forced to listen mainstream stuff on radio, but that's because market is controled by studios and producers and all songs in today's pop are written by two same guys, hence why i always appreciate singer-songwriter type of artists, because they make something that's theirs, their own and unique style, but that's unfortunately not appreciated and it's ignored because of reasons i mentioned.Sad,but true, but such music stands test of time, unlike instant hits that no one remembers after few months.
@akhilesh Vijay your mistake is that you condemn them instead of trying to understand why.
I'm not judging you, but that means you just complain about the world you live in and you won't be able to change it.

There are simply too many great Metal Singers to add all of them into one compilation. But you definitely can add all great Pop Singers into one, there is not more than a handful.
I mean some pop singers are all right but up against Tarja or Floor they aren't on any level even close to theirs. It's like comparing a €10 take away to a 5 star deluxe meal cooked by a Michelin chef
I'm glad someone mentioned Tarja! She's a fantastic singer.
With her operatice voice she excels, but i don't think her other singing skills are any special.
I listen to all kinds of music (well almost all) but it wasn't until i discovered Nightwish all the way back in 1999 that i got such a deep respect for the metal singers. Up to that point for me metal was mainly male singers, who were singing well in studio, but very rarely kept the level on live performances. Then started discovering more and more female singers like Anneke, Cristina Scabbia, Simone - women who sound live better than the studio version. And now that we have powerhouses like Tatiana (Jinjer), Brittney (Unleash The Archers) and of course Floor (no need to specify) it's simply a fact that metal has a lot more talent in it than any other genre out there. BUT one pop singer i can get behind, cause she really has the voice and would've done extremely good in the metal if only she started singing outside the US - Fergie. She has the power and the drive in her voice that pop singers usually lack. It's a shame really she sold out to the American market.
Try Russell Allen from Symphony X is the best male metal singer in my opinion. For a firs listen I would recommend their song Egypt.

I recently heard miley sing live on a Disney special. She's losing too much weight. She sounds exhausted. A few donuts and some chocolates are needed to perk her voice up.
Anette me sorprendió saludos desde Bolivia \m/
Your description: is exactly what I think.
Finally another human being with brains....
The best male singers weren't even mentioned: Hansi Kürsch, Tobias Sammet, Marc Hudson, Myles Kennedy, Sebastian Bach etc.
Will consider them next time.
@build bridge sounds good!
I believe the creator was going for Foreign Metal singers over American.
American metal singers (as good as they still are), are now rare to find compared to Foreign Singers.
However he'll have to check out some badass Japanese metal singers, man they have some pipes.
@@kevynhansyn2902 thank you Kevyn. I included artist I listen to and now that I think about it I don't really listen to American metal :S yeah some people had recommended Japanese stuff but I don't know too much about it.
@@metalground212 I know it’s 8 months late, but please do a video shedding some light on Japanese rock/metal vocalists!! They’re actually very talented in both singing and uncleans, and (I think) they’re severely underrated. The likes of Hiroshi Kitadani, Hironobu Kageyama, Masato Hayakawa, Kenta Koie, Masatoshi Ono, Hyde, Ruki, and more! Love the videos, my dude~
Crazy how unpopular metal is when the musicians are this good. Weirder still is if I play metal (as long as there is no screaming) people tend to like it.
I saw Alissa in the thumbnail so i clicked 👍
And I really love operatic-like voices plus metal sounds ❤
Symphonic and Power Metal are very underrated!
Nothing more beautiful than metal singers 😍
Also for extra points: some of these singers have to disguise their accents when they sing because they’re European.
Floor Jansen's part got muted, but not to worry, here is the full thing czcams.com/video/q9eKLPCciWw/video.html ;)
Thanks! lol
We can win this comparison with just Dutch symphonic metal singers + Marco Hietala. No contest.
Only Question, Wheres Anneke?
There are just too damned many powerful voices in metal music these days but,..my picks are No.1. Tarja Turunen. No.2. Tatiana Shmailyuk. No.3. Floor Jansen. No.4. Alissa White-Gluz. No.5. Brittney Slayes.
Not a fan of Tarja but she definitely is an awesome singer and performer, my goddess is Tatiana and Floor is amazing as well
Just when I thought that I know all about NW and all their musicians, I hear something of Marco I haven't heard before! Could you please share the song? I would be most grateful!!!
Of course that song is part of his solo album project called "Pyre of the black heart" and I believe the song is called "death march for freedom"
@@metalground212 Great thanks again!!
I generally dislike viewing music as a competition, comparing this and that to they and them, but the fact is metalsingers are some of the best in the world. I LOVE Anette Olzens voice, and then I heard she did a collab with Russel Allen and that made my day.
I love Metal with all my heart
But when people make videos like this to disgrace other genres, its soo stupid and cringe
Yesterday I saw a live video of Lacuna Coil. Holy Crap, Christina can sing!!
I love Nils Molin in his two Bands Dynazty and Amaranthe. Marco Hitala is a Legend on his Gitar and with his voice in all of his Projects. I'm one of this Persons who never thought Justin Bieber has a special Voice or good singing Training, just too much Autotune like so many other Pop "Singers". Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon with Nightwish are Eras I will miss forever. Anette Olzon and Lauri Ylönen, also Vile Valo, Laura Ylonen and Apocalyptica wanna be one of my favourite Duetts forever. Elize Ryd and Jak E. Lundberg, Andy Solveström not so much in the days of Amaranthe's beginning and Elize Ryd, Nils Molin and Henrik Englund are soo good Combinations of really good Singers.
As long as I know, all metal musicians can do anything. Singers, guitar players, bass players, drummers (specially), etc, etc...They're all so awesome, dude...
I really love when a metal band sometimes add some unique instruments in a song, surely will be great to hear that song...
