- Far beyond the realms of our understanding lies the sixth dimension--the control room of the Multiverse, where cosmic beings set our fates in motion long ago. Now, with our Multiverse hurtling toward a final judgment it will not survive, our only hope lies in the sixth dimension. No mortals have ever visited it...but the Justice League are no mere mortals! Through the doorway to the sixth dimension, the Justice League discovers a future version of Earth, where the hard choices have already been made and the Multiverse has already been saved. All they need to do now is accept this gift, and their battle will be over. But the easy choice is never as easy as it seems. As the Justice League learns the terrible secret of this seeming paradise, Superman must fight to free himself from an impossible trap--a universe designed just to imprison him. With a powerful being and an entire world aligned against our heroes, will the fate of the Justice League and the entire Multiverse come down to an assist from the Legion of Doom? Do a "Back Issues" on Ellis' "The Authority" next :3
@@ryuoh6928 that sounds great. Or maybe even Transmetropolitan
Also comes in beautiful deluxe hardcover vol 2 for the entire run
I would really like a 'back issues" on Ultimate X, which takes place after Ultimatium and has Jimmy Hudson in it
I haven't laughed as hard as I did at "Who's piloting the ship?" "Darkseid is." In a loooooooong time.
When I first read this line I busted up in laughter.
Time stamp?

*Me, imagined for a minute that Clark and Jon casually heat-visions a member of the Green Lantern Corp every year, and tosses them in to space*

“Hi Superman-AGH!”
When Lex pulled out the Bat-Mite box to counter Mxylsptlk, I immediately thought "They're just gonna make Superman and Batman fight again, come on"
"I can guarantee you there are people out there on the Internet being like 'Flap jobs have always been a thing'."
"Excuse me, I have someone drawing that on deviantart right now!"
_Well, of course I know him. He’s me._
This episode came out 3 minutes ago, how is your comment 5 days old ?!
@@Zero1859 4th Dimensional Being...Also Patreon. They've got good stuff over there.
Time is irrelevant in the Back Issues plane of existence.
In my day we just called them "happy flappies"
You know, this story could be good, but I don't know if...
*Sees Jarro*
10/10 BEST STORY EVER!!!
"Listen to me, you self-righteous action figures..." XD
That has to be the best thing Sal said
Oh lord, how high a patreon do I need to be to get them to do JLA: The Nail?!? I’m spiralin’ here
$10,000 tier
Rock of ages pleeeeease 😪😪
Nail and another nail.
ik this is from a year ago but i got some good fucking news for ya
😆 🤣 😂
I know it wouldn't be any good for the views, but I kind of wish Sal would release a video about Etrigan on the day Black Widow comes out, just out of spite. 😂
Lol It would be great! Maybe he could get Tiffany and have them do Demon Knights?
This is just the Justice Lords episodes from the animated show with a new coat of paint.
I love this show and it’s been weekly tuned in since green arrow quiver and it’s the best decision ever
15:45 Now I just thought of the original opening to the classic "Twilight Zone". The narration says, "There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man....this is the dimension of imagination. It's an area we call the twilight zone." I wonder if the writers were thinking of that when they were determining what each dimension was? That'd be a neat Easter egg/fun fact type thing.
The panels of Superman flying through the suns are friggin beautiful.
So if I'm hearing this right, this is Justice Lords- with extra steps...
Justice Lords + Morrison JLA
I like the fact that Myxy has been giving Superman 5th dimension energy over the years, because every time they face off Superman has to use his imagination to find a way to beat him.
Interesting side thought….. for the short time Post-Zero Hour…… they kinda did that higher dimensional counter with Triumph.
YES!!!! One of the best stories of Snyder’s JL run. That panel with Pa, Clark, and John gets me every time.
This story arc reminds me of comics. I mean like in the traditional sense, wacky ideas and crazy’s eventuates all surrounded by bright colors and ultimately ending with a good ending all while not taking itself too seriously.
couldn’t stop laughing all episode “Woah that’s messed up batman…you have been judged”
"Who's ready for lunch?"
"Darkseid would kill for some jalapeño poppers"
30:00 Jarro = best Robin
I've never heard of this jarro....but he might just be my favorite Robin ever....sorry Tim 🥺
About Hawkgirl's wings... Wouldn't it be called a Flapjack???
Jarro was honestly the best part of this whole run 😆
the art in this volume was amazing!
That Jorge Jiménez is real good...
I think the better name for a “Flap Job” would be a “Wing Nut”
This was one of my favorite stories from the this era of justice league
Reading Snyder's JL run was like eating your vegetables so you can have dessert (Death Metal) and then halfway through dessert you realize it's not as yummy as you thought it would be. Although, I really loved the Last Stories of the DC Universe tie-in issue.
Yep. I can highlights three tie ins, which are the speed metal, the superboy prime one and the owlman one. Which is also weird because they aren't the main stories.
....I know you are talking about Death Metal, but I feel that for Metal.
Just here for the part where Superman annihilates World Forager and then ask him if wants to be friends.
@@koushikraja331 Dragon Ball Superman lol
Hopefully, you guys can do more Back Issues for Justice League, from the early JLA runs of Grant Morrison and Mark Waid. I know you did some Morrison stories and Waid's Tower of Babel already, but maybe see more stories from those runs
Maggedon.
Spent the last half of 2020 catching up on every single episode of back issue, now I'm kinda sad cause I have to wait week to week now but so glad I discovered this channel and it is a crime that youtube didn't reccomend it too me sooner. I honestly believe that this channel doesn't have over 100.000 subscribers has nothing to do with the quality of interest in the content and EVERYTHING to do with the algorithm. How else could you explain that I get reccomended videos to channels I only watch occasionally and I'm not even subscribed to. While I only get reccomended your videos IF I'm already watching an episode. I'm sorry that you have to start over on another channel with your podcasts too, so many of your elseworlds exchange episodes can be listened to no matter when so I'm currently catching up on those.
I know this is unrelated, but is there any chance that you will one day do Snyders entire run on Batman? I know you have done several of his stories but you also didn't do Death of the family with Ethan and Ben. Yes you can just skip or fast forward through the Gordon arc and only do the intersting bits with Bloom and then when Bruce becomes Batman again.
The fun thing about Mxy is that he's one of the few villains who treats his "fights" as games, but who genuinely isn't interested in killing anyone. That he's playing with the toys of the 3rd dimension, and there's no point to breaking the toys, even when he's not having fun.
Speaking of, I wouldn't mind seeing that mxy story when he merged supermans on back issues.
1:13:30 So it's literally a Family Kamehameha/ Dragon Fist.
Awesome.
I love the 6th dimension arc it's my all time favorite story in scott snyder justice league and holy shit seeing Superman Clark kent remember his 10 year old son Jon kent superboy into a plus ultra punch against the forager made me so happy and I cheered to joy when I saw that awesome splash page. Also another thing I love about this story is that it had the justice league be a team and meet up with martian manhunter and hawkgirls kid saving the day was really aweosme and badass ;).
This one was my favorite too. And it shows Jarro being the best Robin 🌟
@@comicsmisexplained awesome man and I agree Jarro is truly the best robin. :)
@@comicsmisexplained He is not the best Robin. That is Tim Drake followed by Dick Grayson. Let’s not get crazy here.
@@DanV900 lol true tim drake is clearly the best robin ;)
I'll just assume that the Overmonitor and Perpetua had a secret love tryst and popped out their three kids, to be confirmed by the next retcon machine to storm DC comics
My favorite Ethan episode by far. Dude was on fire 😂😂
Jarro is both adorable and terrifying.
Sal created the flap job. Internet. It is your job to prove him wrong. Like every single person on the internet needs to do research, then come to the vid, like comment and subscribe, and only then provide evidence. Internet you have been challenged.
A starro Robin is the best thing I’ve seen ever
Me- Oh, I’ve never heard of this story
Sal- 0:38
Me- damn it *watches anyway*
You can tell Sal really loved this story because his summary is pretty detailed. 😂 Most of the time he’s like “Okay so the Justice League beat the World Forger, & that’s pretty much it.”
@55:41 all this up to we locked the door has me in stitches lmao
Highlight of ever Wednesday thanks guys
“Everyone is in everything and everywhere and everywhere is over there and over here and over there is everywhere.”
That’s what DC’s various multiverse retcons feel like to me.
#backissues is like having some great friends tell me a story while I listen and get some work done. Thank you for keeping me company and making me 😅🤣
_"No, no, no, my Hammer! My Blue Balls Hammer!"_
😂🤣😂🤣
Love how you can take a story that I wasn't feeling at the time I read it and make me want to go back and read it again. Thoroughly entertaining show!
As I've been watching through all your backlog I've been trying to hit like on a few comments so I recognize if I've returned. I was somewhat sure I'd seen this but my methods had failed me.
Hearing "flap job" again however triggered all the memories I needed
This put Jimenez on my radar as a top tier artist at dc
@19:00 Ethan literally describing how a Crisis is born
I hope we get to Justice League: Invasion of the Supermen.
It’s the Justice League vs the Eradicator and a Kryptonian army. It’s cool.
Venditti's run is fire.

"I learned it from the Injustice universe: It's called an Option Select."
Sounds like you outta pre order the The New Digital Justice League Animated Comic that's written by J.M. Dermatitis
Fantastic video guys. I just turned 21 today and honestly this video was one of the best things to wake up to
(Around 18:35) I think the word you're looking for is an Omniverse, a Multiverse of Multiverses.
53:53 The World Forger needed someone to practice his speech.
Loving these Justice League stories. Keep up the great work!
Thank you guys for an amazing episode to help pass the time while I wait for my car.
I would unironically love for you to talk about The Demon series Ennis did that led into his Hitman series, both are great
When things happen metaphorically...but literally too, we call that comics.
(Around 43:36) This man's plan is straight up "I Reject Your Reality And SUBSTITUTE MY OWN!!!" 😂
I hope you do videos on JLA by Grant Morrison.
Snyder's JL is just like a different version of Morrison's JLA but with higher stakes, but JLA's story is unparalleled, the build ups and conclusion of stories and the character development is on a whole different level.
I mean, you can read them both and you will see that Snyder's Totality is exactly the same as Morrison's Worlogog, The Perfect World from Snyder's possible future is just like Morrison's 853rd century world, Lex making a new Legion of Doom in Snyder's run is exactly like Lex making a new Injustice Gang in Morrison's run, etc.
My favorite volume of Snyders JL run
5 mins in and im LMAO already 😂😂 favorite episode as usual from the best channel on youtube ❤❤
6 minutes in and this is already becoming a favorite episode.
More invincible!!! I can’t be the only one maaaaan.
Ben’s confusion at 44:31 perfectly sums up a foreigner’s reaction to the idea of the US’ electoral college
My brain hunts so much during these cosmic stories.
same but these guys are funny enough to keep it straight and entertaining
@@ItsOver9000Productions absolutely!
I’ve been a big fan of the show for years now I can’t believe I was in high school when I first started watching the show now I’m graduating from college! I love the show keep it up guys!! And I hope the black widow book Sal picks is the “itsy bitsy spider”
YES this is my favourite dc book in years honestly

"Darkseid, you got something to say?"
"...Not anymore."
I really like how at 36:08 Myx looks like Jafar in his genie form bustin' up the place.
I fell asleep watching Back Issues and I woke up to a new episode. It's almost like I planned for this to happen
I'm so glad I watched it because there's lots of it I didn't remember. I loved this story it has some of my favorite Superman moments and the art is amazing.
Every time I hear about all of the Perpetua/Death Metal/Gods of the DC Universe nonsense and how it’s all supposed to be connected/explained, I think “where the hell are the Endless supposed to fit into this?”
And somewhere in the world, Gaiman instinctively says “don’t try it.”
He literally has the high ground.
Between parodies from Marvel and indie comics as well as DC itself, there's a LOT of evil cracked-mirror Justice League's aren't there?
Because modern comic writers these days are low on creative ideas.
This is the one "arc" from Snyders JL aka road to Death Metal that I generally enjoyed. Jimenez's art is phenomenal!
Great episode of back issues- can’t wait to see the reaction to animal man/swamp thing Rotworld sometime 😅
I was kinda hoping to see the next chapter too. I'm particularly fond of the part where Ganthet casually mentions Doomsday Clock is not in continuity.
Starting this episode off with a good flap job.
This is mcdonalds.....because they're lovin' it! I fuckin lost it.
I always forget this is the "Flap Job" episode... I always lose it at that point. And evey other point in this Ep
Ethan mentioning the ST:TNG series finale and then Lady Gaga's egg are examples why there's always such great content!
The only story in this run that I enjoyed
Great show, as always.
Any chance down the line of you guys going over James Robinson's STARMAN run?
I think all of the Justice League's actions by them doing something so much.
Superman hoped *so much*
Green Lantern willed *so much*
Flash ran *so fast*
Batman was depressed *so much*
So, will we eventually get a Starman episode?
This is the latest I have watched a new episode in about a year!! CZcams, it’s because I was busy with work - I am engaged …I enjoy it…. work that into your algorithm
Ethan went full Ethan for this one
I'm even more confused now than when I started. I'ma need to read this book AND rewatch this again. Wish me luck...
27:22 if Superman spends time in the sun everyday charging up, I don’t feel like he should just be running out of energy so quickly
Well it wasn't planned, he probably should've though
This whole run obviously got WAY more insane than Snyder’s Batman run, but it felt like a perfect continuation of that + metal
I had assumed the fire & lantern flashback stuff was Jorge Jimenez's idea (hence the co-write credit) and that the 6th dimension was hope. Hence Supes being the one who could & how the heroes following a Superman allowed them to travel through it.
You call it "flap job". I call it "flap jack". :D
All this doom talk, im expecting Dr. Doom to show up. "You chose Doom! What did you think would happen!?"
All roads lead to death metal!
Fast and Justice league
Its about family
That's another one for the death metal playlist xD
Fun fact: Jorge Jiminez said on Twitter that his inspiration behind that image of Superman, Jonathan Kent and Jon Kent was Goku and Gohan's Father-Son Kamehameha from Dragon Ball Z. He's a huge manga fan and this was his way of paying tribute to that iconic scene from the Dragon Ball series. Here's the tweet where Jorge says this: twitter.com/JorgeJimenezArt/status/1138051832289386496
