Are you worried about what you're vaccinating your dog against? Do you simply trust your vet's judgment? We are strongly in favor of vaccinations for our dogs, but we want to always make sure that they're getting just the right amount of vaccinations according to the region they will be in, or the lifestyle that they live. If you found this video helpful, be sure to share it with your family or friends who have four-legged family members so they can make an informed decision about vaccinating their dogs!
There are no viruses whatsoever. Ask me about it. Illness is not contagious. Ask me about it.
Never vaccinate my dog he is 8 years and strong and happy. No sickness besides a few ear infections. Never even got worms. Makes me question these methods .
I havent vaccinated my pup yet and I'm a little worried bc alot of people make it a big deal...
@@dea-chan7141 honestly your dog should be better without them😊
Thank you for sharing
We have a 15 1/2 year old Chihuahua and after she had her first shot as a puppy that made her go bald around the injection-site I never went back. she runs around with the kids like she’s a teenager haha. We have 2 neighbors that lost there dogs last year and this year and were younger then mine and all had there shots. Sadly you can tell there health was poor along with the owner having to slow down for the dog. My dog used to run by them all happy it’s like she doesn’t know her age. To add she still jumps up onto the couch which is a little over 2 feet she does her little spin in the mornings and plays with kids in the day. We will miss her when that time comes.
@@Cosmicat01 I just got a Jack Russell Terrier puppy I think he is about a month old, should I get him vaccinated? Cause I mean a long time ago dogs weren't domesticated and they where fine with out vaccinations 🤷🏽♀️
Im 58 years old. I have had 5 dogs in my adult life including my 6mo puppy. I will not be giving him any vaccinations. All of my dogs have lived on the high end or well beyond the expected range for their breed. None have had a single vaccine or health concern that required veterinary care. After my ex gave her 6mo puppy standard recommended vaccines he got incredibly ill for weeks. ever since he has the weakest stomach. Projectile diarrhea from eating any dog treat..or a dropped scrap of any people food. Everyone is free to make their choice. How i see it: dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years with no vaccines
Thanks Ken and everyone at McCann Dogs for having me over. If anyone has any questions then ask away and I'll do my best to answer them!
Thank you, Alex, for all of the information to help us better understand the vaccines we give to our four-legged family members! And thanks for giving our viewers access to ask you their questions!
is it dangerous to skip the rabies vaccine?
What vaccines or shots are Not neccessary?
How many sessions does my dog get for a parvo vaccine?
@@Boojyman ......VMD here.... depending on where you live rabies vaccines are required by law. The good thing is it’s given in 3 year intervals now. So the rabies I would get. The others such as parvovirus, distemper, bordatella are still up for discussion. Do u live in a rural or urban area? Do you board your pet often? Is your pet outdoors unsupervised ?
My dog(chi dachshund mix) got his rabies vacc when he was a puppy and got into a scrap with a positive raccoon a few years back. He tested negative at ten years old. They gave him a booster just in case and he's going on 13.
I'd say, get the first round when they're young, and another when they're middle aged. Should last them the rest of their lifetime.
This advice amounts to gambling with a dog's health. In the case of rabies, it's a life or death gamble for both your dog AND you. Getting a rabies titer would be the prudent decision for anyone who doesn't want to vaccinate un-neccisarily. I don't believe in giving a dog a bunch of vaccines that may not be needed. My dogs have always had core vaccines, and a couple of "lifestyle" vaccines.
I think my vet mentioned that there is a lyme vaccine, which I'll be revisiting with her in a couple weeks now that lyme ticks have appeared in the Burlington ON area. I'll add this to the seasonal application of Advantix, I guess. Subbed to Dr. Alex, thanks!
There has been a real surge in the tick population in that area! Vaccinating against Lyme disease may become more popular as we see more cases in the area.
Happy to have you 😊! There are some great newer tick treatments that are very effective and might suit you better than Advantix (although this does still work OK) so you should chat to your vet about the most appropriate product for your dog too.
Do so at your pets own peril!
Rabies vaccine lasts a lot longer than 3 years. Did you know that Vaccines add up to 14 percent of the average practice’s income? Veterinarians stand to lose big if we all knew how little we need to administer rabies shots.
Very true. Also, once a titer is performed after the 3rd round of vaccinations and it comes back clear, further 'annual' vaccinations are not necessary.
How long does it last? I've read it ccancer. Lot of camcer.
Except for in some areas a rabies vaccination is required by law.
How about the fact that vaccine given dog have not and would not be approved in humans and the testing of the vaccines are a fraction as robust as human vaccines.
It’s not about the vaccine, it’s about how good you take care of your dog
You can't see viruses and no matter how good you take care of your dog, you never know when he's gonna come in contact with any of the viruses that cause deadly diseases like parvo, distemper, etc
This is a ridiculous statement.
Thanks! My healthy 10yr old beagle died :( after getting the DHPP vaccine which is a combination vaccine that provides protection against canine distemper (D), infectious hepatitis/adenovirus (H) and parvovirus (P), as well as parainfluenza (P).
After 2-3 days he was lethargic, had fever, no appetite and difficulty breathing we rushed to the vet but died within an hour. He had stopped breathing! What a shock and sorrow to loose a healthy and active dog in 4 days! Don’t over-vaccinate!
That's so sad. I'm sorry for your loss.
just don't v@cc!n@te at ALL, you actual fu*k1ng CL0WN!!!!!!!
You should vaccinate your dog but the vaccinations should be given separately, not all at once.
One of mine has to hage a benadryl before shots
What are you foreal?
Hello sir
Can I vaccine my dog during pregnancy kindly advise me
My 6 months old vaccinated dog has bitten me slightly she has completed all the three vaccines.. so I have to take rabies shot or just a tetenus?
A tetanus should be okay, if your dog has had all the vaccines
Wtf?! How’d this turn out for ya guy?
I never got my dog vacancies n its been two years since he was born. I recently took him to get shots n now he's very sick. The doctor said he's immune system is reacting too the shots. Wat should I do. Can my dog possible die?
I'm surprised you didn't get a response!! hows your dog? did he recover? I'm really questioning rabies vaccine for my 3lb yorkie pup
Check out dr.becker
@Robbie Knight moron
RockyRoc inc because you didn’t get the appropriate vaccinations for the first two years of its life of course the dog is going to react negatively. That’s like not vaccinating your child until they are 5. Their immune system adjusts at those early stages so when they’ve never had the shots before their immune system reacts badly and tries to expel the foreign medicine. In all honesty so I’m not beating around the bush with this, You are majorly at fault.
Daughter of the Vinedresser please get them. I’ve had too many people come into our clinic and their dogs are never vaccinated and it puts all of our other clients and staff in danger. CVTs are trained to administer the appropriate amount of medicine whether your dog be 1 lb or 200 lbs
Great video, gonna check out your channel. Here in Spain rabies jab is compulsory and leishmaniasis is v common so worth vaccinating against that
my dog is very sick now. I think he got it from drinking water in canals. He is always naseous and vomitting. He is very weak and no appetite at all. I think he is dying. But we put him into dogbiotic now and SMP-500 for vomiting. But still he is weak. I think he was immunized once when he was a puppy. What happen to him?
You could try de worming. My dog got sick and skinny from a parasite but de worming him saved him. He will be 15 years old soon! Hope that helps

none of them are necessary. get that through your thick skull and sit down.
@@Earth.is.F1AT how rude
I read Dr Pitcairn's book and one of the things he says is that one should never give more than one at a time b/c that is the way in which viruses are transmitted. Also after first year, there is no need to repeat except rabies but only b/c it is the law. Rabies is very rare in my area, but we are required to get it to get the license, but after one the dog usually is covered for 6 years of more, but they don't accept titers.
My pup is going to the beach and park and will be living in an apartment with others pups live. Should I get ‘em vaccinated? lol
if they aren't already yes dogs can carry hidden diseases and the beach you dont know what will be there, ask your vet what they reccommend
I watch these video's about vaccines and they say to consult your local vet. My local vet is the one pushing annualized vaccinations. The antibody test is the way to go. Its similar to a titre except that is a yes or no result. Yes protected or No not protected. The general titre test will give you a range of numbers that is difficult to comprehend.
I only get the rabies shot because I have to. My two little dogs get no other shots
Why do you have to?

Idiot. That’s why measles is rampant now, because of vax denying morons. How do you think polio was conquered?
@@teaforthree1 I don’t think you have to call him an idiot. Wish there was a vaccine to stop people like you being assholes.
Sherri Tenpenny go check her out and Suzanne Humphries there are so many other doctors I could give the names for but it's too much to type if u wanna do more research just ask me but yea uhhh the polio most likely was caused by the chemical DDT they didn't know it was toxic back then an literally bathed in it and the toxicity caused a lot of symptoms simular to polio virus etc just do research you'll be surprised

My god, the idiocy in the comment section is astounding.
Define idiocy? Cause as far as I see it’s not bad to ask questions you don’t know.
I’ve always done just the bare minimum on vac for my pup and they seem fine. I do vac mostly because I want to be able to go to dog parks without worry of them catching something bad.
It is only recently I’ve realized vets has been pushing more stuff lately, I never noticed it before cause I used to use the cheap mobile vet. The animal clients are giving me info left and right while also being amused how we used to just give scraps to dogs
@@Sinnedx no, its good you're doing at least the minimum requirements in regard to vaccines to keep your pet safe. since we live in a part of southern california where coyotes, outdoor cats (or strays, not sure), raccoons, possums, and squirels are always coming into our backyard, rabies was pretty high on the priority list for us.

@mochiyeosang1908 Well, I guess you aren't aware of what's really going on with over vaccinating the pets and most of the Vets offices, it's a very real thing and these pets are getting real illnesses like cancer like you've never seen before and many other symptoms and sicknesses. This has been going on for years and the Vets are being blackmailed by the big corporations that are buying out these vet offices and in turn they tell them how to practice medicine. $$$$$
