Oh, man, totally. We could see that a mile off. It's very disrespectful cause a lot of us were looking forward to Roxie getting included in Umbrella's story and or the Web Comic and... she gets a passing mention in the Story and in the Web Comic she's just Molly's cheerleader... Instead of you know... being the mechanic for the Egrets? We're glad we at least beat them to the punch by fleshing Roxie out and letting her actually be seen out in the field.

If Roxie becomes playable her play style would be like TF2 engineer building a sentry mechanic and have her team help out in the fight and lastly have spray paint to have status effects and have oil and tires trip opponents and her main attack would be her upgraded hammers and rivets gun .(she has it everywhere she goes) She is basically a rush down character with a supporting role for your team. If I had to guess she is the best bet for the first Black Egret to be playable. I love my big boy Panzerfaust but he may be the second Egret to be in the roster because Molly is to complex by he play style description. Again sorry for the long comment good video though 👍
Roxie is so criminally underused.
Her concept was interesting (and I really like the "inventor" type of characters), but she doesn't appear in the game at all.
Having her just as a romantic interest for anyone... Kind of cheapens it, really.
Really, I would like to see more Egrets. Especially when it comes to the whole situation with Umbrella.
@@YelenaSkunky The sad part here is that when the Egrets finally do something they are nothing else but a joke... literally. 17 story modes and only here we could see something more of them. Every Egret are really underused and we probably has to wait some years more to get news for a new season pass
@brockbooth630 Her & Molly being a cute couple doesn't justify just regulating her character to being tied to that. They've had multiple opportunities to show off her personality and her just being a supporter for Molly is just plain wrong. Her personality should be as rich as her game mechanics.

I don't know what the fuck this is, but cutting off someones spoken dialogue earlier than where their written lines cutoff is such an underrated and underused idea.

@thatonekappa7410 It's funny cause in the original 14 story modes under Lab Zero. They were consistent as hell despite being different story perspectives because the strands of fate tied certain events together, which would be seen from different points of view. Almost as if they had a vision for what the story would be... The genius of Alex Ahad. And then with the current stories... "What's consistency?"

Man, I feel you on that one. I've been a fan of the game for so long. It inspired me to start writing (which has led to this, ironically.) I love Skullgirls so much as do the rest of the team and it is sad to see the potential go to waste but fear not cause we'll be here to pick up the pieces and hopefully deliver a satisfying experience. -MP

I don’t really have an opinion on Umbrella’s story mode, but I do like how they once again showed that Cerebella isn’t entirely evil. Even though she does hate the Renoir Family for their war destroying her home and family, she didn’t want to harm Umbrella at all because she feels that hurting/killing a kid is going too far, but Eliza unfortunately forced Cerebella to help her fight Umbrella.
Also that “They really like doing you dirty, huh?” got me laughing because it is true. Both the main Skullgirls writers and even a lot of the fans for that matter mistreat Cerebella unfairly. I know you guys don’t like her, and that’s ok, but I personally feel like she deserves better.
We don't have harsh feelings for her as much as we did before. This shows that we think she should be treated better and we'll continue to show it with future videos. -MP

Ok I love this so much- the characters just say things so literally I love that
For those who don’t know, Filia and Samson rather than two people stuck together and don’t really know how (mostly on Filia’s side and maybe Samson leading on to know more or want to make things quick when talking to Leviathan and Squigly), to having Samson knowing EVERYTHING, being able to fight off the Skullgirl while being with a dog (yes that happened), and after being killed by her uncle and robot and especially her parents, he then posses her. So if it’s now her backstory Samson could have easily tell her everything on how she got here and her entire motivation to get the Skullheart means NOTHING
Almost like the main guy not being there to oversee the writing makes everything go down the drain. ;)

Huh, I never heard that explanation before.
I've been assuming Aeon may have brought her from other timeline kinda like how it's implied she secretly brought Fukua to stop Dahlia.
Would make sense too since the Trinity would be wary of Eliza considering what she supposedly did to them last time.
Maybe there were couple parts that could've been done better, but still, it was overall nice to see how things worked out for Filia, Carol, and Parasoul, considering how things went for them in their original story + Umbrella becoming more than just "little sister in distress" (Oops forgot to add this).
Hopefully, it's confirmation that the three & Umbrella will have their moment of peace now with their imminent problems(Filia with her guilt for Carol, Parasoul/Umbrella with matters regarding her sister's/her Skullgirl compatibility, Carol with... being Painwheel) being solved before their big battle with the forces of evil(you know, factions/characters like the Medici, the Trinity, Eliza) in canon story.
I wouldn't get your hopes up for the current dev team to resolve those in a decent way. It was canon that the Skullgirl can regenerate if the SkullHeart is not destroyed immediately after but again, they've either retconned that or forgotten about it completely. Neither would surprise.
@@NoFriendsEntertainment Well actually, I was more intrigued with the whole nuanced "Eliza actually failed to destroy the Skull Heart completely that time" point than the whole "Skullgirl can regenerate as long as Skull Heart is still intact" point.
Didn't she basically ran through it with her blood scarabs in that story?
There weren't any implications that she missed or something.
I was kinda already aware about the point about regeneration ability itself, and judging from that particular scene in webtoon where Marie's wound was healing itself after her first rundown with Medici, I don't think they completely forgot about it. (Sure, we never see her do so in Black Dahlia story, but considering how it ended, it probably wouldn't have much meaning even if she did off-screen)
@@NoFriendsEntertainment It makes sense that they should destroy the Skullheart to prevent the Skullgirl from regenerate. Otherwise, all they had to do was hide the Skullheart in some secret place where no one can easily access it. No one can make a wish, no one becomes a Skullgirl.
I always thought it was the Skull Heart's and Marie's shared hatred of Eliza causing the Skull Heart to resurrect Marie to have another go at Eliza.

Yea, video games tend to have awesome characters and concepts but their story/storymodes are almost always awful lol. It’s somewhat sad, but i do still love the genre.
Sad part is that they could be amazing but they are squandered by people who don't know how to write proper narratives. -MP

Okay, so I have a LOT of problems with this video, and frankly I feel like most of it is just complaining for the sake of it. Let's go over everything I think is wrong with this:
-I...REALLY don't get what you were trying to do with Parasoul here. Why is she portrayed as being obsessed with fun? Like... just because she was trying to have a day of bonding with her little sister who she rarely ever sees because she's constantly risking her life on the front lines to protect their kingdom? That isn't even CLOSE to what she was like in the story. She was trying to keep her little sister out of a dangerous situation, she literally fought with her over it. She was worried for most of that story, you totally misrepresented her here. She wasn't trying to distract her, she was up-front about what was going on. Like... the way you portrayed her makes ZERO sense at all. The Egrets not watching her? I'm pretty sure it was stated that someone was going to pick her up at the ice cream shop, but she got scared away by Peacock before they showed up. The situation was urgent, and she told Umbrella she could have all the ice cream she wanted because she was confident that would keep her there until her escort home arrived, how was she to know a living cartoon character would have taken it all?
-Is the retconned backstory about Big Band? Because it wasn't retconned. At all. He still has his backstory intact, they just took out a single image and replaced it with a different one that gets the same point across. Or is it about Filia? If so... what was there to even retcon? Like... we didn't know anything ABOUT her backstory until the Mobile game, so how can it be retconned if we never knew what it was to begin with?
-Literally what's wrong with Umbrella being a sassy little gremlin and not acknowledging the guy that clearly wants recognition and fame being a running gag? Beowulf being pointless in the story is just a weird criticism. Like, sure, he's there to make it a bit longer, but like... He at least does SOMETHING to further Umbrella's development. He helps her out a bit with the doubt she's feeling towards her family. Besides, is one extra fight and some more dialogue REALLY so bad? Also, 'shoehorning him into any story'? He's been in TWO stories besides his own, one of which was Annie's, whom he already has an established connection to, you're massively exaggerating. Speaking of Annie, if he played a bigger role in her story, it would have felt way too samey to his own story where she already played a huge role. That was ANNIE'S story, meant to develop HER character. We got them interacting together again, that's good enough. Beowulf appearing much more would have been a rehash. Would it have been better to give his moment to Double? Maybe so. But complaining about him being there just feels like a massive nitpick.
-You COMPLETELY misrepresented what went down with Cerebella and Eliza. Cerebella did NOT 'tell her how her parents suck and dump her entire backstory on her for no reason'. Eliza was the one that first mentioned it to Cerebella in an effort to rile her up into trying to kidnap Umbrella, and after being defeated, Cerebella only told Umbrella her backstory because Umbrella literally asked what Eliza was talking about earlier. Umbrella literally ASKED for it because she wanted to know more about her parents. 'No reason' is just being disingenuous. And uh... pretty sure the scene was long was because it was an IMPORTANT scene where Umbrella is learning about all the skeletons in her family's closet after she's been sheltered and idolizing them for such a long time. The length of the scene is entirely warranted. And as for Umbrella's relationship with the Egrets? I doubt she really has much of one considering her sister goes to great lengths to keep her OUT of that kind of business, and it's nothing that the Webtoon can't show anyway, so really it's just another pointless complaint. And uh... what did they do with Cerebella in Dahlia's story mode that they didn't do in her own story or Eliza's? She shows up with Vitale, defends the mafia, simps for Vitale, everything checks out, I don't even know what you were trying to say here.
-Carol wasn't expressing her trauma because she was probably riding the high of being freed from Brain Drain's control, after which she was expressing her gratitude for Umbrella by helping her. There really wasn't time at that point to show her grief and trauma considering the situation, and even at the sleepover, she's probably still riding that high. She's been freed. She's been reunited with her best friend. She finally gets to sleep in comfortable conditions amongst people she loves and cares for. She's feeling overwhelming RELIEF. But even so, if you look at her eyes in those images, you can still see there's a sadness there, even if she is squashing it down for the time being in an effort to enjoy herself. And besides, this is Umbrella's story, not Carol's. Umbrella's story should focus on Umbrella. Other characters can get little moments on the side, but Umbrella is the main focus, we really don't have time to be lingering on Carol's trauma. And besides, she's canonically extremely strong willed. She's constantly fighting off the control of a powerful telepath, she shrugged off the codes that are literally meant to control her when Valentine tried it, and when her own parents rejected her and threw her out, she didn't succumb to despair, she just got pissed and went for revenge. Carol is quite possibly mentally the strongest character in the entire roster, so it's not that big a surprise that once she's freed and amongst friends, she can show her happiness and gratitude. She's a kind-hearted girl with immense willpower. Her characterization here makes sense when you have all that in mind. And uh... why are you criticizing Umbrella making fast friends with Carol? Umbrella is a lonely girl that's cooped up in the castle all her life aside from the rare times her sister is able to take her out, so of course she'd be quick to latch on to a potential new friend. And of course Carol would gladly accept her friendship. Aside from the fact that she's a sweet, gentle soul, Umbrella literally just saved her from her captor. In Carol's shoes, you'd be Umbrella's best friend too. Also Brain Drain's connection to Carol was literally severed, so no, he was not still there by the time they left to fight Marie.
-Complaining about Roxie not being there just feels like another pointless nitpick. and I will never understand why people get so butthurt about gay shipping, like, what does it matter, just let it be. And uh... personally, I always found her very forgettable anyway, so yeah, not like she would have even contributed much being in a singular group shot.
-Valentine and Double's absence was a bit weird, I'll give you that. But come on. It's been two stories since Double had a major role when she's always been a huge player, so it's understandable that they'd want to branch out a bit, and Valentine really doesn't have much of anything to do with Annie or Umbrella, so she really doesn't need a major role in those stories.
-It was never stated how long it took for a Skullgirl to regenerate. Eliza was able to get quite a bit done before Marie came for her again. Dahlia probably just made her wish before the timeframe it would have taken Marie to come back.
The majority of your criticisms here are just pointlessly nitpicking, and if not that it's being factually inaccurate. Sorry to say, I really don't like this video.

The amount of times Parasoul says "Fun" in that one scene will make anyone nauseous and the way the writing portrayed her made her sound like she didn't understand the word and just plain dumb. A person saying fun five times continuously makes you think they have a problem. Filia's backstory has been retconned due to the fact that Samson was the one that made Filia lose her memories because he asked her to, instead of a bullet grazing her head and also the mystery boy that was shown in the flashbacks of her story is nowhere to be seen or mentioned and the fact Filia felt guilty about something in the past and Samson was manipulating her for his own desires, which Leviathan even states in Squigly's story. Mobile was the first to retcon many details. Also, what does Beowulf have to do with Umbrella? Literally we could have gotten her interacting with Valentine & Double due to the history they share with her family and yes, Valentine does have a history with the family and namely Parasoul herself but they never follow up on it. The Eliza & Cerebella scene is purely stretched out to dump info about the Renior parents without any nuance or interest. For Painwheel, she does have a strong mind however, she still has extreme trauma from everything that's happened and in the other stories even after being freed she's barely able to keep a convo going at times and she wouldn't just stop to talk to some random person. The past stories went out of their way to show how much she is damaged consistently. For Roxie, it's not the fact she's in a gay relationship, it's the fact that's all her character is tied to, instead of being a fleshed out character with relations to the others and it comes off shallow and disrespectful to the fans of her and you also, just said you don't even care about her... so why comment on her in the first place? You also state that character stories should be about them and only them along with the Web Comic to flesh stuff out. Couldn't be further from the truth. Story modes should be there to expand just not the character but the world and supporting cast around them. Once again, the past Lab Zero stories did that. Eliza's is praised due to all the world building and relations she has with others. We find out a lot of her and Samon's past, namely Delilah, her relations with the Medici etc. Beowulf's story enriches Annie due to her saving him and reminding them about he helped her get out of a rut a few years back. Big Band's (Until the retcon) you see how respected and how much cred he has being an ASG soldier and how he can even get under Valentine's skin. Using the Web Comic to clear up details, is a lazy way of handwaving that the current devs can't write out consistent meaningful stories and tie them together in a satisfying way instead of info dumping in scenes. I get if you're biased and a fan of Umbrella's story but please, do your research on these things cause you make it sound like you've never played any of the past stories at all and only got it from hearsay. -MP

-Frankly, that's just a nitpick. Just because you personally didn't like the joke does not automatically mean it's bad.
-Frankly, this retcon makes way more sense because if Filia ASKED Samson to erase her memories, why would he willingly go along with the quest to get them back? At no point during the story does he tell her 'No. You DON'T want your memories back.' He's totally on board with getting them back the entire time. As for Samson's retcon, the original characterization was never even really actually a part of the official story, so does it really matter that it ultimately went unused?
-They already did the whole thing with Valentine and Double manipulating Umbrella in Parasoul's story, and they wanted to do something new this time around. Nothing wrong with that, especially considering all the characters needed for the true story mode are here, so maybe they were saving it for that, who knows? Beowulf being there didn't add much, but it also didn't take much away and complaining about it is pointless.
-So, what, you don't think there should be any exposition about stuff Umbrella's parents did in the past at all? It made perfect sense in context. Eliza saw an opportunity, Cerebella was hesitant, so Eliza coaxes her into going along with it by reminding her that this is a member of the family that's caused her pain in the past. Umbrella doesn't know about it, and she wants to know more, so she asks Cerebella and she gets an answer. Why is that such a bad thing? It fits into the story perfectly fine, it isn't forced at all.
-I don't see that point you made regarding Painwheel myself. Off the top of my head, she was freed in Filia's story and came back smiling and happy as she was before, she was freed in Big Band's story, and she only said one thing which sounded more like she was briefly dazed and confused after the fight than struggling to speak, and then there was Beowulf and Annie's stories, where I don't recall her speaking after the fight at all. The only story that shows her being broken is her own story, and even then she's mentally put together enough to go for revenge rather than stew in her misery. At no point do I see her as a broken spirit, I see her as a strong-willed, determined character that's pissed off and is determined to retake the reigns on her life. Carol's a timid girl, but she's also a total badass when you really look at how she's able to focus her anger to the correct sources and keep herself going even when she's at her lowest. So yes. I can absolutely buy more of her old self coming out when Umbrella saves her, especially since, with her kind heart and strong will in mind, she's possibly putting on a brave face for a little girl. Frankly, this story is the one that shows how strong she is and how she refuses to break. Her one line after losing to Big Band really isn't evidence of her being broken. Umbrella's story probably shows what she was acting like shortly after that scene most likely. She's tired, but putting on a smile regardless for the one who saved her and doing what she can to repay their kindness.
-She appeared in the comic ONCE, so maybe give it a little more time for her to pop up again before you come to the conclusion that what you've seen so far is all she's ever gonna be.
-Okay, well, we learned that Cerebella was a victim of King Franz's war in this story, which perfectly explains why she's so loyal to the Medicis. You complain about the scene, yet it also perfectly matches what you just said regarding world and cast building. We learn that Hungern was a terror to the entire world in the distant past, and that Samson and Eliza are both familiar with him. We see more of what Carol's like when she gets set free. And we learn that King Franz isn't actually dead. It's not as much as the other stories, but it's still there. Umbrella's a more light-hearted character, so her story mode is more light-hearted in turn, but you can't just disregard what is there. And like I said, Beowulf playing a major role in Annie's story is just a rehash of his own. Show some new dynamics, show how she interacts with other characters. Don't just limit them to the same group of people, actually let them branch out and interact with the rest of the cast. And besides, there's really nothing wrong with just wanting to flesh out a singular character a little more. Yes, world building and showing different sides of characters is great. But I still believe that the MAIN focus should be on the character the story is focused on.
We don't appreciate it when things aren't allowed to reach their full potential. Folks say, "Eh, who cares that it was retconned? It probably wasn't that interesting in the first place." After they think that Mobile was the only source of info and been proven wrong. How the hell do you know if it wouldn't have made sense or not? It wasn't given any time to fully develop and then they just went and retconned it without giving it a chance. Just because a character is a child doesn't mean that the story can't have mature moments to fill the void instead of it being a clown show. Cerebella was a victim but again, there are more ways to go about telling the story than just info dumping without any explanation, no flashbacks, no quick image flashes nothing. Painwheel comes back smiling and happy in Filia's story but it is implied that time has past and she has been at the Labs to be rehabilitated instead of quickly getting over everything. Again, her being broken and damaged doesn't take away from her being a strong-willed character. Just because some story beats are taken from past stories it's not a "rehash" it uses the story beats to expand upon what we already know and see it from different characters' perspectives. Also, that's a pretty lame joke to have Parasoul repeat something multiple times like a parrot. -MP

-Well it seems weird to choose now of all times to start complaining about it considering it's been years since it happened. You're complaining about something you don't even really know about instead of accepting what we DO have. They looked at their old ideas, realized it didn't work and so they changed it, it's that simple.
-It DID have mature moments. In fact, it had a TON of mature moments. Everything with Cerebella and Eliza was a mature moment. Umbrella and Parasoul's fight was a mature moment. Umbrella's talk with Beowulf after their fight was a mature moment. Umbrella saving Painwheel was a mature moment. Umbrella and Parasoul's reconcilation was a mature moment. Marie's defeat was a mature moment. You can't just act like it was a clown show all the way through when there was plenty of serious moments to its name.
-Cerebella gave an abridged version of her story to the little girl that asked for it. Some images would have been NICE, but ultimately, what they did was fine. Being mad about it because it wasn't done in the way you personally wanted it is honestly kinda silly. And honestly, it feels like you're massively exaggerating how long it actually is. I looked at it. In total, Cerebella's backstory explanation takes a minute and a half, and it doesn't even actually go into detail about what SHE went through, she just tells Umbrella about what her parents DID, which is relevant to what Umbrella wanted to know. Like, the scene with Cerebella and Eliza is no longer than many other important scenes from other story modes.
-Frankly, I don't see it as any different from how Peacock acts after her trauma. Carol could very well be acting like her old self as a form of dissociating from her situation. Peacock can still act like her spunky, hot-headed self after what she went through, albeit a bit more extreme, so I don't think Carol acting like her old self is out of the question, especially considering she doesn't have THAT much screentime in this story due to showing up near the end. Her befriending someone and attending a sleepover doesn't mean there's no trauma, it just means she's choosing not to focus on it at that particular moment. Hell, her facial expressions during those scenes can easily be read as her still being pained. The scene on the bench, even when she's smiling, she still looks saddened and her eyes at the sleepover look tired even if she is putting on a smile.
-They showed the more heroic and determined side of Annie in Beowulf's story and they wanted to show the more jaded, cynical side in her own. Annie's story didn't need Beowulf to have a huge role, her presence in his was more than enough for us to get her, we didn't need to retell the same story from her perspective, and frankly I think her regaining her spark because she realizes some of her fans still truly believe in her is a much more interesting tale than a second story where she hangs around Beowulf the entire time. The interaction they DID have was all we needed.
-Again, don't treat your personal opinion on one joke like it's objective fact. Frankly, I see it as Parasoul struggling to relate with her little sister who she rarely has time to spend with and coming off as awkward as a result.
Honestly, this entire video just feels bitter, spiteful and hateful.
Just remember the current writers and devs aren't the same as the ones that worked on it before. Alex Ahad came up with the story and characters and it's fell off hard ever since he left. "You're complaining about something you don't really understand." "Don't treat your personal opinion as objective fact." Have you looked in a mirror lately? Seems your own subjective bias is stopping you seeing the light and there's a whole lotta people that don't like the current direction the story has taken, hence why we're here to pick up the pieces but it's all good man. If you don't like what we're doing, you can simply just turn off from our videos and go on to something else. Have a good one. -MP
Aw dude 2:06 was like my favorite part of the webcomic! I definitely didnt want to see other character interact with one another like for example when peacock went to the circus and then got kicked. I DEFINITELY didnt want to see her intereact with Cerebella or god forbid give Feng some more screentime. Like the situation could've gone like cereblla see her wacky woohoo cartoon powers and could've been like "oh ma gaw your pretty kewl wanna join the circus" and peacock could been like "nah not right now fam *finger guns* " and then them working for the medicis could've slipped thus causing a reasonable conflict to ensue. NAAAAAAAAAAAAAH NONE OF THAT!
Forgive the kong rant there I dont like the webcomic to say the least. By the by what happened to Wiirdo do she leave or something? I cant tcall the current artist work bad but I cant call it exceptional either its mainly just serviceable.
All good man. We dislike the web comic too due to the amount of retcons of the lore and the weak writing and art that came before & after Wiirdo left. Don't trust her with her Skulldudes team after that controversy with the Avery voice actor. That aside, Roxie & Molly's relationship comes out of nowhere with no easing into or introducing Roxie as a sperate character. It's a disservice to her, when she should have fully fleshed out personality, other than being Molly's gay cheerleader. Queer baiting for extra points is one of the most insulting things you can do and it does nothing to promote "diversity".
