Toyota used to make on their old fuel injection motors a filter with threads on it for flare lines. That way you can put it any where with steel gas lines That way less rubber lines and you could mount the fuel filter in the engine compartment if you wanted to. Take a look a fuel injection filters
Why didn't you opt for the pusher type of pump. You could have put it in the front like mine. But anyway it seems there is an easier place than the one you've chosen. How about down near or in the tunnel.
