Nothing wrong with a "Phil special" . ..we don't all drive Lamborghinis and have a throwaway budget ...I'm here for this👍
Amen to that bro ❤
I took ‘Phil Specials’ as a compliment 😇
I own a $2000 Xmaxx, $1500 losi LMT and a $1000 arrma kraton and i still buy these little cheapos lol i just got done building a $70 WPLD D12 😂😂
@@TomleyRC oops!
I have all the cars but it's more fun with a small car.
Less damage, less collateral, more repairs, more modification, cheaper. Kinda like it used to be back when we only had Nitro🎉.
Enjoy these budget type rc reviews. Disabled and on a rather strict income,so less- expensive) cheap to some other's maybe, but it allows me to rc and even indoors with the mini's. Great video so thanks.
So many people on a tight budget… so although it may not be as good as some of the big brand stuff… it’ll still get you on to the Hobby 👌
It's all about having fun . I have high end and budget RCs . Both put a smile on my face .
I've given the kids some carefully selected BG specials and been very surprised they're mostly all still work even after several yrs .
i like watching likes increasing while watching the video 🙂 24 when i starting watching the video, 36 now at the end
987 now haha
Yay!!!! Trombone sound plastic pointer hand!!!!! My favorite part of your show!!!
Right on Tomley! I dig the variation you choose.
I bought the LDRC Unimog for my son this Christmas based on your review and recommendation. Hes 5 so I imagine he will love taking it on the forest walk! Thanks Phil! 👍👍
Fantastic selection, Phil! Thanks a bunch for the list! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy holidays!
Now that’s what i call an opening statement!!! It should always be about fun…..RC snobs need not apply 😂😂😂
Thank you for this list, great variety of fun !
Have a great weekend Sir !!!
I recently bought the MJX H14 you reviewed and i love it thanks tomley love your vids
Fwiw Phil, I have zero issues with the cars/trucks/buggies/et al, that you review. I enjoy the style of your content, it's kind of asmr at times (crawlers usually) and just good plain fun.
You keep doing you my man.
We love our ZD Racing Pirates 3 truggy! We opted for RTR and upgraded to a 6s ESC after smoking the original one. What a ripper!!!
I don't understand , I'm here for the GD Rodent , Allen 😂
Alan… Alan…
Big love to the Skyline in the background. That HBX is the best i think as its strong, fast and in previous videos always seems to right itself on landing.Amazing price too.
I must admit you give a good honest review on everything you get That Talbot fella is just a complete goof Smashes stuff to bits then makes em faster then smashes them some I doff cap to you sir. I’d rather watch you’re Chanel than any body else’s 👍🏻😀
I try to be a bit more relatable to what is normal 😅
His vids are good but does make ppl think it’s normal to spend £1000 on an rc send it to moon and break it! Surely that’s not the idea of it! They’re not designed to do that they are cars not planes ha
I got the HB R1001 after your review. New wheels/tyres, different servos and an 1800kv Fusion and it's my favourite crawler, I also fitted a front diff from my TRX4! I have a couple of TRX4s and they haven't been out since the HB was delivered...
On your recommendation from all that time ago I bought the 'Ravage'. Fantastic bit of kit. I've added a gyro for loose dust surfaces and it's an ace car. Good choices Phil !!!!
2:30 This is so well done... I saw it before and it's still majestic!
Ain’t nothing wrong with cheap RC’s. We started our channel with cheap RC’s, and I still love em. My favorite RC in my collection is my Hosim 9125..
My whole channel was built on cheap stuff 👌(well… most of it)
I've been curious about Hosim and asked if anyone knew about their stuff
@@dieseldabz7104 highly recommend them. Tough as nails
I don't see anything wrong with your sense of humor, I find it very clever and very funny. Reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson. I love British humor. Keep true to yourself. I also love your channel, I learn things and laugh while on other channels not so much. Keep it up!
A good list that covers a good range of cars. 🤔👍
I recently bought the MJX H14 you reviewed and while it is a great value I’m disappointed no one bothered to mention the throttle delay that is built into the ESC that can’t be fixed. I threw a different rx/tx on it thinking that would help but that just caused a bunch more problems like aggressive engine braking, servo wouldn’t turn all the way even with travel maxed out, and not to mention you need a six channel to run the fans and lights
The geezer saying "Phil special" and laughing sounds like a proper billy hunt...
Long live the "Phil special" it's what got me back into rc.
Haha
This video really opened my eyes to how good MJX RCs really are. Great video as always, Tomley!
repairs are an utter big pain in the arse and nearly impossible if you have to take the thing apart , and because of this it's almost a throw away RC , chocolate screws superglued down 🙄 🤔
A good JIS screwdriver and a bit of patience has done me okay on them. The WLToys are the same
Anyone else wish they made in 1:10 scale?
Very strong list of goodies there Phil. Really good list! I think might choose Xinglihong 903, 901 Brushless versions just a tad over the HBX but, both are pretty much unbreakable. Cheers buddy!☕️☕️👊🏼
Yes, the Xinglihong are good… I often forget about them as I reviewed them quite some time ago
Love my LDR/C Unimog!!
I like the Unimog.👍👍👍
Love my MJX and HBX!!
Thinking of getting my nephew a faster rc for christmas, so this is a pretty great video
That MJX crash montage was like the end of ‘Blues Brothers’… just kept going!
I recently purchased the HB toys crawler, thing is amazing for the money!
Good video, phil! I absolutely LOVED the disclaimer, lol (especially the tiny text on the left 😂😂😂)
Haha… 😅
@@TomleyRC XD
Hello! Relatively new subscriber here after rediscovering this hobby after nearly two decades or so. Very much enjoying your content. Forgive me for asking if you have already covered this subject, but would you consider making a video on how best to clean/what tools or methods you use you to clean all the crap off and out your cars after a serious bashing session? Many thanks!
Another great video, can't wait for the pirates build
Thanks mate. It’s gonna rip some grass up for sure
Great list of RC vehicles that are within reach of us mere mortals 😂...
Great consumer advice ✌🙂
I think there's some great cars from bang good. I've got 3 up to now for my kid (8yr old) and they are all pretty durable and quick for the price. So much better than getting him the toy ones from argos.
Agree 👌
I now have 3 Hypergo cars, and these things are a blast!!! Skate park, yard bashing, whatever bang for the buck!!!!! Drop an angry snail 3s lipo in and booyah you are having fun and that is what matters I've had all the popular brands and they are fun but never had this much fun for such a low price!!! Love the channel
ROFL That crash montage is hilarious!
I really love your Videos, watching them since you got me into RC again in my adult years 😊
So I bought the HyperGo some month ago and ripped all the tires in a few runs. Can you tell me where to find new wheels or even better tires to replace? I can't find any 🤔
Thank you so much!
Tatters gonna tate. Forget them you rock! I always look forward to your videos. Keep 'em coming!
Cheers dude
Great video for Christmas matey.
Thanks mate
Its a great list. The Ravage is amazing.
100%
Maybe extend that to 10 and include the WLToys 1/28th line up and UDI and pinecone. Decent list.. keep doing what you do.
That's a good mix of this and that, definitely good value on much of that stuff! The MJX 14th scale seems really cool, but since I'm not one for road cars nor truggies, I think I'll sit and wait, see if they make a buggy version, I think that would be pretty nice...
The MJX Hyper Go 16207 is a great little buggy. It's the slightly older style w/plastic chassis but it performs like a mofo.
Nice to see some clips of fair weather speedruns again...
Yes haha… I miss the Sun!
@@TomleyRC you must be one of them southern folks. This is perfectly acceptable weather given the time of year. But you’ll get your big coats no longer required in about 6 months. I haven’t looked mine out yet. Maybe next month if it gets actually cold
Nice mixture there!
😎🤘
Definitely a few really good RCs nothing wrong with the Specials 🤟
Bwahahha, now with the 'idiot claus' disclaimer!! Luvvit.
Banggood specials are a great way to get into the hobby!! Dunno why people gotta bash things that aren't 100% name brand, because you still have to upgrade, maintain, and repair those big spendy models too!! Start cheap, and learn what you are doing with a car you wont feel as bad bashing as a $1000 rig stock!!
Then, by the time you've got a better idea with what you're doing, the spendy cars will start to weed themselves out, and you'll be looking at precisely what ya want!!
Great vids as always my friend, keep up the great work!!
Nice choices Phil 👍
Oh yeah the HBX is king 👑
For the mjx & the beluga I absolute agree with you. Good job tomley, nice video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love your sense of humour buddy. It's similar to my own to be fair. Love how your crash montage was much longer than your good driving montage. says alot mate... 🤣😂
Haha.. I try to a balance it out. Most people don’t get my humour, so I never really go ‘full Phil’
@@TomleyRC Oh please do a Full Phil Christmas Special... 🤣
Ordered the HB-R1001 for just 169,50€. This is an unbeatable price. Cant wait to get it delievered.
I also bought the Kyosho Mini-Z Mad Max interceptor XB GT Falcon RTR and the Kyosho Repsol Motor racer motorbike RTR.
Never, ever leave a dislike with this gentleman
He’s right ☝🏼
the Hyper Go is on my Xmas list 👍
Great choice
Picked up the HBX as a Christmas present for myself this year, for £82! Will be my first RTR RC car as I'm into 1980's Kyosho and Tamiya, but I can't wait to bash the ****** out of it! 😁
Feel the same way.
Get it down the skate park 😇
Still consider Banggood as my "go to" site. Seen a few new additions on there in recent weeks. Great list Phil.
Yes, I’ve been keeping my eye on what’s popping up. A few new things on the way 🤘
There's a new RGT 'Bronco' 1/10 at a good price. Just got the Austar Jeep 1/18 that is a Traxxas knock from them.
Im gonna watch that mjx tumble on repeat
Haha.. it took a good beating!
AliExpress special for me, apparently I'm a diamond member 😂😂😂😂
Haha
It wasn't really that long ago that a cheap rc car wasn't radio control, it was remote by wire, and the only turned left in reverse. They were cheap and pretty crap. Even the ones you can get these days with on/off speed and steering aren't what you would call great. Cheap now can include proportional speed and steering and some of them for the price are great value.
Some people just need to remember it's not about the most expensive one you can find, it's about how much fun you can have with it.
Very true. Things have come along way 👌
We ❤ Phil!! Mad ❤from Bama USA
Finger and trombone done proper. Many thanks. 💚💚
Awesome vid. I am really interested in crawlers.
But I find it difficult to choose a price and performance point.
I want the best for the least but i just get lost between too cheap, too expensive, underperforming for price and scale or unavailable in Europe.
To me, a tier list would maybe paint the bigger picture I need.
👍
I almost bought the mjx hypergo for 100 euros from ali last week. But I already have enough small "1/12" ~ "1/16" scale Chinese cars. There were also quite some scammers one ali so be carious. I play mainly with my pirate 2 truck (with bigger wheels and 3 body). But all the drive cups are from chinesium (really soft metal). Had to heat threat them by making the red hot and quench them in oil to make them somewhat durable.
😂 I was expecting an hour of smashing that MJX
Two HBX 16890a on the way for my son and I, got a killer deal on two. Gonna be a bash fest!
I might be sold on that last one 😮
HELL YAH. It's a Phil special video. 🤣😉🙃
Haha
No broken vehicles 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
🤘
Hi Phil, can you recommend any cheaper crawlers than those two? Would like to dip my toe in and see if i enjoy crawling
Cheers
The quote is from Odin. Haha, nice!
🤘
A very nice selection there, Phil. I've got the HBX, and it's had the snot beaten out of it, and has never broken!!
The Pirates was a definite buy for me, before the prices started going up, 2 years ago. A friend has one, and it's wicked.
I seem to be leaning more and more to the crawling side of the hobby at the moment, so there are some great choices. 😎👍🏻
Yes, I’m sure the pirates 3 was under 200 at one point
I had always heard the drawback on those was the plastics were too brittle and shattered.
Awesome Phil! 👍🏻
Cheers dude
i just got one of those hyper go drift trucks and i love it i didnt this i was going too till i drove it
Get em phil!!! 😂
I think a few of the bigger channels forget the "some people have a smaller budget and still want to have fun with the hobby".
Are you getting any of the new Arrmas? Especially the 4s Mojave, 6s Kraton exb, 6s Bigrock, or Grom? I'd love to get your opinion. I have the Mojave and an gonna convert my Fireteam to a Bigrock, and waiting on my Grom to be delivered.
Grom should be here tomorrow. As for the others, nothing that really interests me. The 4s Mojave maybe.. absolutely love the 6s
the best of phil specials lol
aww man i miss Phil!
"Nom nom nom" 😂😂
What camera is used for the onboard recordings?😊
Zd racing pirates ☠️ 3 yes Phil got the idea 150amp surpass hobby esc imagine the grass speed runs with a lowered wheelie bar conversion cannot wait till after Christmas to see what you come up with bro. ✌️👍😁
Crawler love it 😀
Good idea round the garden pond at Christmas with a campfire and some pigs ears bro.😂😂
UDIRC is the only "name brand " to compete here in the USA against the large name brands from what I've seen on the websites that I shop at.
FMS..for the slower vehicles.
Don’t think I’ve ever bought from Bangood tbh buddy. Might give it a look see 😊
I’ve had maybe 2 issues over the last few years. And both times got a refund (although you do need to be persistent with customer service)
@@TomleyRC awesome just for some reason I’ve never really used it since installing the so app no particular reason
New to rc amd just looking what about cis? Some of the ones on your videos look like them but you say different maker just wondering
Bro..ya really gotta work on them landings 😁😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣
It‘s crazy! Where do you find all these pump tracks, dirt tracks, pools / skate areas with no people? I know a few places around my home and they are almost always crowded and basically never empty.
Early ij the morning while the kids are at school
D'ya know what? I got into RC aboot 10 months ago. Started with an FMS powerwagon, then a max smasher. Then, I got a 1/10 absima crawler that breaks every time I drive it. Arrma vortex that seems to be unrepairable since I drove the life out of tit at scail rail east 2023 ( I will admit I drove it beyond it capablities) an FTX Banzai that turned out to NOT be a dr?ft car............
Oh an UDI little dr?ft truck.
I LOVE my little trucks that go on for ever an don't break.. I hate my expensive , big cars that I'm constantly repairing only for them to break an cost more £$£$ over an over.
KEEP up with the affordalbe FUN little cars!!
P.S who wants to swap all my 1/10 stuff for little 24 fun rigs???
"Phil special" = Good, Cheap, Reliable
Nothing wrong with a Banger. The stand out is the Unimog IMO.
Which one is better the mjx or hpx
Was that pat, got to love being able to say the word pat without it been removed from comments automatically like on some channel’s
That mjx is nice but it's a speed machine that handles like a car. I was surprised to see you bashing it so much.😅😂 As for banggood specials. I'll be a banggood person for life. I don't really get them anymore but it was the Wltoys 144001 that got me back into the hobby about 4 or 5 yrs ago and I have to say I loved it and thought it was great bang for the buck. Even though it had that big brushed engine it still ripped but like I was saying for the $200 it cost I was blown away. Decent quality entry level hobby grade. You could buy all anodized parts for it and upgrade to brushless pretty easy. They ended up making it even better with the 144010. Kev can't say much. He was pretty banggood friendly in the beginning too.
The MJX 1430X models are nominally "rally" cars with a little more suspension travel than a typical road car. But they will get fouled by sand or gravel pretty quickly; I noticed that the new trucks (the 14209 desert truck & 14210 truggy) actually correct some of the potential areas of debris ingress. They are high on my wish list.
Yes, Kev used to review lots from Banggood.
I own both an MJX 16207 and 16208 and the fans in these certainly don't cope very well with being bashed on beach like sand. Also the diffs had their screw come out on 3S and grinded into the inner diff housing of the car. I tried to fix them with different screws but alteady bought the upgraded 16420Y diffs for when they break.
@@TomleyRC yup he's looking down on banggood but you can't forget where you came from. 😂 Not to mention they probably pay pretty good too. He still puts their stuff on once in awhile.
Was thinking of putting the max10 g2 140a g3 motor combo in my MT10 but not sure what motor to choose. Its 3665 size. 2400 4s, 3200 3s or the 4000 3s. Any ideas.
Was hoping for over 50-55 on tarmac without it overheat offroad. Was thinking 3200KV kv with 15t -16t pinion
I have a few classic nitro cars that I would struggle to get parts for now so they don't get used as much as they should. I have no problem with the budget cars as long as they are good.
Personally I think this category should top out at £100'ish but it's your show so who am I.
Is that pat from Kevin talbot videos ?
I just bought another Traxxas Slash Ultimate :)
Great video! Now I have to task you , last Thursday I had a shoulder op, and this is your first video since! Now as one of my favourite CZcamsr’s you need to step up on content for the next 6 weeks! One video a week is not going to keep me entertained. So pull your finger out and get some videos out ! It’s not as if you have anything better to do!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well Shaun… December will make up for it, I have something special in the making 😇
@@TomleyRC ooooooooo! I’m all excited now 🤣🤣🤣
As soon as I put my Hypergo on 3s I shredded the gear-one of them is made of like cheap zinc or tin or aluminum alloy-too bad cuz I dont know where to get a better one-im a noob
