      For those like me who have zero experience with this printer, may I ask what happened that caused the glass door to break?
      Perhaps knowing that can assist those of us considering buying this printer so we know what to watch out for and avoid disaster.
      So please, if you don't mind, what happened or was done that caused the door to shatter?
      Thanks in advance.

      @Sytron- Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@BlondieSLIt's tempered glass, the edges of the glass are the weakest point of the glass. If something with a high enough hardness hits the edge it will break and "shatter" into tiny pieces.
      For example a piece of metal hitting the glass on the edge can break it without a ton of force. Just be careful not to hit the edge of the glass.

      How is it for TPU? Especially the softer of the TPUs, like below 85 or so.
      I use a very soft TPU that it literally like wet spaghetti.
      The junk printer that I have, at first, handled it very well. Partly because I have the filament mounted on the top rail, so there's some gravity feed helping it get to the direct drive extruder.
      I realize that most printers can handle TPU that is stiffer, like about 85 or 90 even.
      But many cannot handle the software stuff.
      Are you able to let me know how well it handles that?
      Thanks in advance.

    • @jedispidey

    • @BlondieSL
      @BlondieSL Před 2 měsíci

      @@jedispidey Perhaps, if/when I'm ready to buy a K1 Max, I could bring some of my soft TPU to the store, with some object .stl and have the guys slice and print it to prove that this soft stuff will work.
      I'm more concerned about such a long travel though the PTFE tube. Almost like a bowden tube (kinda is, I guess).
      At least with my current printer, the spool sits on the top rail and the filament just "falls" down, directly into the direct drive spooler. Other than a 4" PTFE guide, there's no other resistance introduced.
      With the K1, if it happens to suck with softer TPU filaments, then that's a definite deal breaker.
      Thanks for the info, Jedi.
      I appreciate it.

    Love your content. Watched this video while printing on my K1 max. Love mine as well. Agreed its a true workhorse. I switched fully to the PEI plate but went third party to save a few bucks. I print mostly PETG followed by PLA, followed by PLA Silk. PETG sticks to the PEI plate amazing well. PLA and silk do too but you have to rub the PEI plate after each use with alcohol and a 0000 Steel Wool pad. Then I get zero issues between prints.

      You are so lucky! I wish that I could say that.
      My 1st and only printer, I got a few years ago. It's a stupid Wanhao Duplicator 9, MK2 400.
      For the first 1.5 years, it was pretty much useless. Constant failed prints and I really knew nothing about 3D printers or even what to look for.
      Once I finally found my confidence, I resolved all the problems these things have.
      At least now, I get good prints and consistently.
      But this K1 MAX is really catching my eye!
      I think, at some point, I'm just going to get one.

    I do love my k1 max. I upgraded to the high flow hot end from microswiss and it’s a beast now! Prints ABS beautifully now

    • @BlondieSL
      @BlondieSL Před 3 měsíci +2

      How easy/difficult was it to upgrade to that hotend?
      When you upgraded, did you have to tweak anything in firmware to make it work right?
      Or, is it literally plug-and-play?
      Also, if it's easy, is there any reason to switch back and forth to the orig. hotend to print PLA PETG and soft TPU?

    • @priority3d
      @priority3d Před 3 měsíci

      @@BlondieSL was very easy to swap. Took maybe 10 minutes was all. No firmware issues. Just recalibrated the printer and let it do its thing.

    • @BlondieSL
      @BlondieSL Před 3 měsíci

      @@priority3d Sounds good.
      As I do not know this printer, what is the recalibration procedure?
      Is it a laborious process or just a menu option and let it go?
      Also, I should ask, would upgrading to
      Micro Swiss FlowTech™ Hotend
      solve this problem?
      Also, in using the FlowTech, is it also ok for PLA, PETG and soft TPU?
      Or would one have to swap out original with the Swiss?

    • @priority3d
      @priority3d Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@BlondieSL the stock hot end works perfectly fine. It will print all of those materials just fine. The only thing I think needs to happen with TPU is printed straight into the end and not through the bowden tube. if you swap in one of these hot ends, you don’t need to flip-flop back-and-forth. The calibration is just a couple of push buttons on the screen and it does the rest.

    • @BlondieSL
      @BlondieSL Před 3 měsíci +2

      @@priority3d Thank you. Good tip about the soft TPU bypassing the bowden tube.
      For clarity, the "bowden" tube is just the PTFE tube but the extruder is direct drive, right?
      Also, just for curiosity, when you talk about the stock hot end, are you specifically referring to the "newer, updated' version?
      The guy at the store told me that many months ago, with the original hotend, there were problems. But that the new machines all have a new design of the hotend that doesn't have the issues that the old one had.
      Is that what you mean?
      I just got off the phone with the store and I'm like 85% leaning to go buy this thing today.
      In our talks, I asked about using Cura instead of Creality Print. The woman I walked to instantly suggested to NOT use Cura as many have problems with it and this printer. Mostly due to the differences between Marlin (like my printer has) and Klipper. I can understand that.
      She suggested stick with Creality Print for now and if I really want more control, perhaps try Ocra.
      I do understand that to use Ocra, there's some hoops to jump through to get it to work with this printer.
      I'll have to research this.
      So if you're saying that the stock hotend is just fine, then perhaps I'll not buy the Swiss FlowTech one today. I can save a few bucks. LOL

Motherboard shutting down ,clicking noises from belts, heat bed level was super warped even after heat soaking. Going to return. Hoping they get it right with the next gen of the Max. I have done Nylon-CF prints at 300mm/s and had great results. this printer while not listed as one for said materials is yet to show any struggle towards different materials from PLA. Getting back into 3D printing after a couple of years away from it and wow things have changed! I'm tossing up between a P1S or a K1 Max, ideally I want a printer that will just come out of the box and print with little to no fiddling but it seems they are both just as good as each other! Greetings from the UK, hopefully see you in London in May 😎

      I've been pondering the same thing between the two. I can't get an answer from anyone really. One youtuber did say the Bambu Lab was more reliable and more of an out of the box printer.

    • @Mistertyrannosaurus
      @Mistertyrannosaurus Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@guitarflyer172 that's basically the same information as I have been getting. I had CR-10S's and I spent the majority of the time tinkering and fixing rather than printing which is what I don't want. I these 2 printers are much of a muchness in that they do pretty much the same thing, but maybe the Bambu with it's proprietary hardware and software are a little bit ahead of Creality? I think I'm ultimately going to go with a P1S to get back to printing as I've missed it dearly, with then a view to getting a K1 Max or similar later on in the year. I say similar because I'm sure we're going to see a fair few more printers coming out over the next 12 months

    Frank, what is the big draw to a K1 Max over the QiDi X Max 3? Larger with a heated chamber etc.. still fast… orca slicer etc.. slightly cheaper. I realize you primarily print in PLA so things like a heated chamber don’t matter but otherwise it seems very similar but larger and cheaper. I also have heard numerous times that qidi has great support. Thoughts?

    Got my K1Max for Black Friday and it's been printing my Mk39 armor basically non stop since then. Had some bed adhesion issues at the beginning but the glue cured that. Lately I've been running into clogged nozzles, or some kind of issue where the filament gets stuck between the feeder and the nozzle. Doesn't take too long to clear, but it's really annoying when it happens during a print. The last pieces of the right thigh took an entire spool because of failed prints halfway through 3 times in a row.
