A “Game Changer” to me would be a new heavy duty truck that cost less than last year’s model.
It'll never happen. Every year the cost of a new vehicle goes up, and keeps going up because people are stupid enough to keep going out and buying new vehicles year after year. So...the prices will just keep climbing.
The dollar is crashing
The government increased the money supply by OVER 40% in only 2 years (2020-2021)… theres absolutely NO WAY any company can reduce their prices when the government is flooding the market with that much money that quickly. You can thank the politicians!
@@jMichaelEdwards Crashed decades ago.
well if they keep adding new features and technology, the price will go up. It’s nice to have all the goodies but it can become a headache when electronics takes a dump.
I am so Impressed how well the 6.7 HO Pulls! Much better then my 2019 and significantly better than our new Duramax's.
I should have my f350 lariat ultimate powerstroke in a month. Ticket for build was pulled two days ago. I lost my loaded 2013 lariat power stroke in a garage fire two months ago. I’m a ford employee part time and customer who ordered the one I’m getting backed out so I’m thrilled to take it. I’m 71 will never use it for what it’s made for but I don’t care. I’m enjoying my golden years and this should be my last rig.😊
Hi there so you basically daily drive it and don't tow right? It's pretty awesome and looks nicer than most cars
@@MarkR973 Yes, I do have a car trailer though if I need it.
Congratulations! I got mine 3 months ago 24’ F350 SRW 6.7HO Platinum Tremor. I absolutely love this truck. I will be using it to tow a 5th wheel RV a couple times a year. Like yours most of the time it will be what I like to refer to “a pretty boy truck”. I have a home building company but there is zero chance that my truck will be hauling anything but me 😎.
N I C E !
Great stuff,I love & appreciate it when technical stuff is explained unlike just motoring journalists "testing" vehicles & "being" marketing/u marketing personal. 👍 to TFL.
It’s sad that some dealerships are still marking up. These prices are insane. I remember Ford used to offer 5-8k in rebates. Guess those days are long gone. At least make a nicer looking XL model. Headlights are hideous.
Add the STX PKG and it looks amazing
Picking up a 2023 F-250 XLT tomorrow. Pretty excited;) Will be our tow vehicle for our Airstream mainly, but will be used around the farm for projects and as a secondary vehicle as needed.
Andre! ...just an incredible, wealth of information!!! Thank you!!! And, thank you for researching the options so well that you were able to get the engine experts to actually talk about their engines...amazing to me that those guys were ready and excited to talk about all of the details and SELL us on why those changes are great 🤪
I picked up my 23 F350 SRW, Lariat Black Appearance package last month. Love the truck. The wireless Apple CarPlay has been a little finicky. Sometimes it just won’t connect and I have to turn the truck off, open the door and try again. We tow a large 5th wheel, 45’ long and 13.5’ tall. It weighs about 19k when loaded and it does fine. 4100lbs if payload capacity.
I"ve had that problem with wired CarPlay. Not in a Ford though. Probably a universal issue.
Yes it’s a universal thing still best choice out there
My work truck F150 just did that to me today. I simply just disconnected it from Bluetooth and then hit the connect to apple carplay in the phone menu. I don't think you have to turn your truck off.
When connected wirelessly, if you did not connect to CarPlay, plug in the hardwire to your phone and it will connect. Then you can disconnect the hardwire and it remains connected wireless.
Nice review and overview. Seeing Andre sitting behind the wheel, those front chairs seem quiet a bit too small(in height)?
Thanks for all the information on the new SuperDuty. Great looking truck in the red color.
If find it hilarious that interior compartments lockable with the ignition key are considered a notable feature. They've been in cars for decades.
its one of the original features from the 50's, this channel is so far behind! I'm sorry but where do they find these people?
It’s crazy how I saw a lariat 2023 super duty on the street and it looked cool until I saw the Chevy side steps it was alright but I left quick and was impressed how fast it took off
One question - does the instrument panel fill up with dust like it does on my 2016? It makes it really hard to see the gauges.
diesel apparently have a lot of fuel pump issues.. and the 7.3 are having some issues as well... would love to see those big issues discussed
Mine seems to be fine and I have a December 16th production F250 SD Lariat. What issues with the fuel pump are you referring to?
@@SVAutoAustin if you have to ask about the cp4 issues, then you probably shouldn’t be driving a diesel. As for the 7.3….. just do a gooogle search.
CP4 is 100% junk. Ram is replacing them all...
@@boobacockaa I’ve only seen a failure in real life on a work truck that was neglected and never serviced appropriately. Online It’s blown waaayyyy out of proportion. Had multiple 6.7’s and know lots of people in my area that have had 0 issues.
No issues if know how to take care of your diesel. All diesel engines built these days need lubricant in fuel. If you use additives regularly no issues. Change fuel filters every 20k . Drain water separator every 3000 miles
This was excellent, thanks for bringing this to us.
Game changer would be the trucks actually be available and reasonable prices. I'm not buying an Aston martin....just an f250. Why is it over 100k
One manufacturer includes a new features, consumers demand those features from competitors, competitors add those to avoid being outdated, prices go up.
Prices go up yes, but never have we seen them go up like this. @kumudukulasekara6684
Great in-depth view of the SuperDuty! Thanks Andre
Andre thanks for talking to the engineers. Wish power on board was standard equipment on the xl trims.
This is all good and great. But I ordered my 350 lariat with the standard 6.7 in the beginning of November and haven’t heard a word of it since the email confirming the order.
That high output 6.7 is a monster sitting on the stand. It reminds me of the 6.4.
the only thing good about a 6.4 is.....................nothing. at least you dont have to remove the cab to change a turbo on a 6.7.
@@rearspeaker6364you don't have to remove the cab to do a turbo on a 6.4 either. I've done hundreds.
Total pile of shit though, and very hard to work on.
-Ford tech
Love the HUD and the new gauge clusters but for some unknown reason there is no compass in normal driving mode. PLEASE FORD fix this with an update!
When will you be doing the towing test with the regular and HO 6.7?
I purchased a 2023 Ford F250 Diesel Lariat two months ago. The truck is impressive. If I drive the truck at 68 MPH on the four lane highway I am getting 27 mpg!! That is with the cruise control set. The 3.31 gear ratio and the 10 speed transmission really do a good job for the fuel economy. There are so many other features I like. The HUD is one of those great features. I did not like the HUD at first, but I am now used to the display. FORD needs to solve the fuel pump problem.
One of my 'must have' options is HUD. Once you have good HUD, it's really hard to not have it.
27 mpg you are lucky and the only one in history to get fuel mileage that impressive. We have all of our trucks monitored by satellite and at 70mph all 30 tucks 20.5 with the eco mode on. Don't give that truck you are driving up.
@@matthamilton7452 Does you diesel have eco mode?
Yes sir. All of them do. At best doing 70 I may have seen 22mpg.
@@matthamilton7452 how do I get to Eco mode. If I go 70 I too drop down on the millage. I have to drive 68. I have a bed cover on the truck. No load
From a rating standpoint the 7.3 with 4:30 rear end is rated (i.e. legally allowed) to tow almost the same as the 6.7 regular powerstroke (not the HO)-7.3 is only ~1,000lbs less for gooseneck. For weekenders the 7.3 seems the best option, and is $9,000 less than the regular powerstroke. Add in a higher payload than either diesel and you have a highly capable truck.
Here in New Egland, the camping season is often booked a year in advance. Essentially, you could purchase a toy hauler and find you have no campground/ trail system to travel to. Great job! You rock Nathan!!!
It makes me nuts that my F350 XL does not have a battery/alternator gauge so I don't know if it's charging, I'm not having issues it's just something I like to monitor.
Did you have any discussion on the CP4 Fuel pump, any changes, replacement, etc. Or is it still a concern for Owners on the destruction if pump goes.
Just got my 7.3 Lariat. I don’t like all the chrome, but I didn’t want the 20” wheels that the blackout package requires. Still breaking it in and will do my first long towing trip in July. Hope I don’t regret going gasser
I think the chrome crap is part of the Lariat package....my 99 Lariat has way too much chrome as well.
Chrome is so outdated, it’s a 60’s 70’s thing…. You would think these “big brain “ designers would have figuredthat out by now especially being that most people who buy trucks are practical and not into flashy shiny stuff…..that’s one thing I love about my 22 power wagon ZERO chrome, looks super sharp, also 17” wheels for maximum side wall for cushion and wheeling. Who and why would you want a 20 or 22” wheel???? Les side wall stiffer ride and bad for off road. I think “some” people think chrome and 22” wheel look cool lol.
@@titaniummaster1532 exactly. I am sure over the next few years i will find aftermarket ways to make the chrome go away. I couldn’t even get the snow plow and camper package and do blackout. Even a satin silver would be better than the chrome
@@carperdiem8754 totally agree
@@titaniummaster1532 Well they may not want chrome, but they buy a luxury car with a truck bed attached instead. Truck prices are totally ridiculous for what a truck is actually supposed to be for.
Great video, I am in the market for a new F350. I am leaning towards the XLT for a slide in camper/road trips. Thanks for the deep dive into the new Super Dutys.
That's ALL ya need. Best heavy duty truck out there by far! All engine choices are excellent. New, efficient 7.3L Godzilla (gas) V8 is game changer. 23mpgs+ on highway. 💯
Wonder what the 6.8 will get for mpgs
Very good coverage
In regards to the HO diesel. Did they finally go away with the CP4 fuel pump? He said it was a larger displacement pump so im assuming so. But id like to hear the words "no more cp4"
looks like they kept the CP4 😁
@NorCal-916 they did. I bought a '22 anyway and replaced it with the DCR
Have they fixed the death wobble problem in the front end. Had a 2017 and 2019. Both started doing it. Traded the 19 on a 22 AT4. And hate it.
Once the settings are configured for my routine driving, are they "sticky" so I don't need to reconfigure them every time I start the truck? I can visualize they could be distracting while driving that could be a safety issue. Looks like the dealers need to offer training seminars to operate all the various options. Does Ford train the dealers so they can do that?
Most sales staff get trained by the vehicle buyers...most people out shopping for vehicles are doing their own research online and in person, and learning all that stuff and actually teach the sales staff what all the gadgets in today's vehicles do....but yep, you'd think the employees at the dealerships would be taught....they actually don't know much about any of the vehicles they sell, we as consumers typically know more than they do.
Andrei loves this stuff and does an excellent job getting into the details. Great overview and very helpful!
No he doesn’t. He’s terrible without a script.
He sucks he knows nothing
Problem is he’s wanting more technology in these trucks more technology means more expensive. We want a basic strip down work truck.
There are a lot of comments on CZcams about the roller lifters on the 7.3 gas engine galling. Has this perceived problem been resolved by Ford or is it not a concern because it is blown out of proportion?
Given the thousands of those engines that have been built and are in use, about 1-2 percent of them have suffered lifter issues. So, like everything else on the social media platforms, people blow everything out of proportion...they read about 1 issue, and suddenly every truck on the planet has that problem....they don't stop and think that it is a very small number of engines that have problems. Like anything new, it'll take a while to get the problems sorted out.
Ya and you got to remember all the RVs that have the same motor!! That’s thousands more motors in chassis and cut aways every year!
Very few failures
@@FutureTruth1 Plus the crate engines as well, not sure how many of those they sell, but they're higher HP/Torque than the engines used in production trucks.
@@FutureTruth1 because not many have the miles to fail
my old heads up display in a Buick I couldn't see it with polarized glasses. Can you on this one?
Ask them why do they still use a CP4?
Exciting times great Work TFL team 😊😊 but the thought of 1200 to 1300 monthly payments in the current market conditions makes it a total loss for manufacturers and consumers. We need big rebates to return and dealer hold backs to be released again. Its not 2020 vehicle shortage any longer Ford is high up there on days supply behind Ram. Deals should be plentiful.
There are hardly any on the lots. Unlike F150 these are still scarce. Not sure why, maybe because commercial sector has an aging fleet they have struggled to replenish these last few years
@@carperdiem8754 fleets took over the first wave. Most companies had first choice from past 2 years . But still plenty if you check around. Gasser versions are scattered and on lots all over. But chips rollout has plagued the diesel process. This winter into next year you'll see more price deduction plans and increased trims being produced.
If you’re making payments on it, you can’t afford it 😂
@@mvcharisma2968 words by Dave Ramsey very true!!!!
1600 A month for mine...
Do they still use Bosch CP4 pump in new 67?
Andre & Team, I have a question that I have not seen addressed in your videos. I am wondering why I should choose the 3.55 rear end over the 3.31 for 5th wheel towing with a 6.7L HO. I have seen some people say the transmission compensates enough to make up the difference with a 3.31 while getting better fuel economy. Thoughts?
probably slightly higher tow rating as well keeps a better rpm during heavy towing. If you do lots of heavier towing 3.55. If you don't tow frequently or don't tow overly heavy then 3.31.
get 3.55 or whatever higher numerical value is available for the configuration you require.
3.73 or 4.10 would be my choice.
Man, those Engines are going to be expensive too get fixed.
Almost every super duty I've seen on the road the last few days is a 2023. Glad they are selling....but then again....if Super Duties aren't selling ....there's something seriously wrong
On the instrument cluster for job 2 it is not the same. I have a BAP 2023 Lariat Ultimate, very different, no side diesel options. I can select them but the left side stays and all info is in middle.
Never mind, figured it out. Wow! Great information Thank you!
Make sure you cover ALL the engine & transmission issues too 😘🤛😱⚾️
So glad you have access to the theoretical higher level trims… apparently all super duties are now lariat or below in the real world
Ford Job 1 vs. Job 2. The top trims aren’t out yet.
Really cool the DI engineer came out. she must have a lot of free time
Wow, this is truly impressive!
I agree, they just keep jacking up the prices. They can keep it.
This really is my dream truck 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Calm view is nice
When you said standard I got very excited because I thought you were talking about the transmission, then my hopes got dashed, I'll hang onto my 92 350 diesel manual transmission until ford can smarten up and bring back a manual transmission in the trucks
greed, although we will be dead before Ford puts a manual in their HD trucks again.
A manual transmission will never return to these trucks.
@@brianb-p6586Exactly. Manual transmissions are dead everywhere aside from some sports cars and even then those are on their deathbed.
That’s because all you can operate anymore is a cell phone… sad
My Bronco has more factory horsepower and torque than a 92 ford diesel diesel.... just tell us, you ain't buying anything...
Does it still have the diesel fuel pump that blows and cause $10,000 damage ruins the injectors and sends pieces all through the fuel system
When will they offer manual regeneration DPF.
I want to know if I can get a Manual gearbox in any F / Series truck
With the cost of that Lariat truck, you might have to sell the house and live in the truck. So that reclining seat will come in handy.
Andre,, thank you for the look at the new Ford super duty truck..
I’m probably a bigger Ford fan than Henry Ford himself,, but I am very disappointed in the new front end grill area,, I do not like it at all..
I’m disappointed in the grill,, but everything else I love it..
The hud in GM trucks was the main reason I left Ford. I am so happy they got with the times! When you have complete neck fusion, it is really hard to look down for directions on the gos systems, the turn assist shows on the hud making so you do not have to turn your (which I can’t) to read the radio. Thanks for a great video!
Should you really be driving if you can’t even move your neck? Sounds like a rolling accident waiting to happen
😏🙄
I think they built the 6.8 so they can charge a premium for the 7.3. It cost the same to produce either one so the upgrade price is all extra profit for Ford.
I’ve been watching TFL and BTBRV since their first videos and the love affair between these two and Ford is definitely not lost on anyone. We get it. You guys are in love with Ford but how many of these “game changers” have made it to customers in the past year?
You are great I have 2022 king ranch 6.7
Took them forever to put a HUD on the 3/4 to 1 ton category.
What fuel pump is on the diesel engines for 2023?
The powerstroke even sitting on the stand, not in a truck, looks like a giant mess lol
It’s a very complicated beast that is almost impossible to work on if the cab isn’t lifted off the frame.
Yeah, definitely buy the most extended warranty possible. Ford techs are probably groaning even more!
I love those black wheels!
JFC ... ya need a small step ladder just to check the oil level
New grill has grown on me. But those black rims may take a lot more time…. Lol. Even the tremor wheels are iffy.
Glad to see Ford introducing key features while pushing the envelope on power. Too bad that they're also pushing the envelope on looks and the wallet as well...
They also push the envelope😆 when they don't warranty your cp pump.
Love my 2017 F250 FX4 6.7.
My local dealer was full of Super duties and all of them were 80k+ even an xlt with cloth seats. These prices have gotten out of control
And the problem with that is?? 😆 seriously they are all nuts do a car calculation of what a payment would be at 80k with 8 percent
Prices have been out of control for about the past 20 years. People think they need a luxury home inside their cars, so all that electronic garbage adds up, add to that all the nonsense nannies in today's vehicles that stuff adds up too.
I have no idea who can even afford these new ones
@@wildbill23c Since when do customers' needs or wants factor into the decisions corporations make? Car companies make cars based on what their competitors are doing--they don't give a shit if there's demand for an affordable vehicle without 12 touchscreens in it.
@@theglowcloud2215 Half the problem is people keep opening their wallets up and overpaying for new vehicles that they don't need in the first place, so guess what, automakers will just keep on upcharging every year, and adding more nonsense electronic gadgets so that people who have no business driving can drive.
Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽 🇺🇸

However, It doesn't hide the fact that this is a feature US manufacturers are reluctant to bring to market.
Should ask her why it always defaults back to the main menu. It will not save your last setting
Andre, can you question the Ford engineer, why is the block material flayed between the cylinder bores? It would easily crack if a coolant leak occurred.
He’s a sellout & a coward, he will never ask something like that.
The trailer chain hookups on these 250's are really irritating for all 3 of my trailers.
I find it funny how the ford looks more like a chevy up front that chevy does now days (luxury trim anyway)
What's the meaning of high output
Is it more power??
It still feels weird that the 2023 Super Dutys are just hitting the lots in the last few months. Coming from a company that has been known to throw 2008 year models in January of 07. Is the 23 year model going to be a short production then the 24s hit in the fall?

Great looking truck - but a solid ~6K more than a Silverado 2500HD and the Ford is relatively bare bones. For example a Tremor XLT 7.3L Godzilla at $71K with no leather, no heated seats. I can do that at $65K in the 2500 with the 6.6L. I like the Ford better but I can't justify the cost of a Lariat just to get that stuff for daily driver experience.
You gave it the Tremor package and tech package, while giving the Silverado nothing. And the Silverado has cloth seats standard too.

Can anyone get the cam specs on the 6.8 V8?
Like the fact ford is offering two gas engines.
How much? Are they on sale?
Game changer all right, I put 3,089 miles on my 23 and the electrical charging system went to crap. All Ford 250 and 350 are having issues and other Ford brand products have issues. Ford heavy duty are being recalled for axel issues.
I really like what Ford has done with the interior, the thoughtful gauges and interface. I’m not a fan of the exterior or the insane prices. It infuriates me that ford uses a basic gray headliner on all the lariats in spite of the black door and seat covering.
You should try to work with ford and see if you can do a 6.8 vs 7.3 towing test with similarly equipped trucks. Would be nice to see what the power difference would be for gas customers trying to decide
6.7*
@@darkfire8615 6.8 is the new gas motor, I want a comparison of the two gas engines.
There’s barely any difference - there’s no major differences between these two 💩s other than the 6.8 having a shorter stroke.
Just means HP/TQ will be shifted to the right (on a dyno graph).
The 6.2 Boss was a much better basic engine and it should have been the basis for a larger cube (6.9-7.3 liter) Cammer.
A large cube Boss would have offered much better performance than the lackluster Godzilla
@@BC08 That's not true at all.
From Ford's published specifications:
6.8L Gas V8: 405 HP @ 5,000 rpm, 445 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm
7.3L Gas V8: 430 HP @ 5,500 rpm, 485 lb-ft @ 4,000 rpm
The smaller engine peak torque is lower, and the peak is at the same speed as the larger engine. The smaller engine's peak power is lower, and that peak is actually at a lower speed than the larger engine. The shorter stroke does not shift the torque or power to higher engine speed.
The 6.8 is about 7% smaller in displacement, and has about 6% lower peak power and 8% lower torque, so output is essentially proportional to displacement.
@@brianb-p6586 Based on your numbers the 6.8 peak torque rpm is not lower, it is the same.
Take the the same top end (cylinder heads, intake manifold and camshaft), reduce stroke (thereby reducing displacement) and the power band shifts higher every time. This is basic physics.
So what’s happening here is Ford could be reporting HP at an arbitrary RPM (like 5000) to differentiate peak outputs between the 6.8 and 7.3 or they put a smaller duration cam in it since based on all accounts the cylinder heads and intake are the same.
And before you ask why Ford would under-report peak HP to differentiate engine options, they did it with the 5.0. Twice.
They would report the peak HP of the 5.0 truck engines @ 5500 RPM and 5750 RPM.
We can look to numerous dyno graphs of stock Gen 1 and 2 5.0 truck engines not making peak HP until 6200-6300 RPM on dynos.
Why would they do this? To give the 3.5 EcoBoost - a higher cost option - more peak HP on paper.
Ford has to ditch the CP4.
The base 6.8 L gas engine gets the 10R100 transmission and the higher-output 7.3 L gas engine gets the stronger 10R140 transmission.... but while the base diesel gets the 10R140, the higher-output diesel gets the same 10R140, which is not rated for that engine's output. Where is the "10R170" (or whatever it might be called) that would be needed to reliably handle 1200 lb-ft of torque?
There was a video on CZcams that showed parts differences between 7.3 and 6.7 10R140 versions (beefier planetary gear as an example). Heavier duty components in the diesel to accommodate the additional torque. Part number differences with non-PTO equivalents for 2022 Lariat models: 7.3 LC3Z-7000-AB and the 6.7 LC3Z-7000-EB.
Today's XL or "Work Truck" package Super Duty Fords are equipped with more standard features than my 99 F250 Super Duty with the Lariat Package....not sure why anyone would think they need to have anymore features and gadgets LOL.
theonly thing that bugs me is the 2kw on the super duty i mean its better than nothing but its just not enough for a big trailer!
Did Ford sat when the upper three trim packages were going to arriving to the customers and dealerships?????
What color is that lariat in ford language?
At that price point those low hanging steps should retract.
The Eco Boost has been running in small cars/trucks for years, When is the 7.3 going to get some twin turbos? And a E85 option, now that’s a real game changer.
Doubt that'll ever happen. A twin turbo 7.3L would rivel the output of the Powerstroke and they don't want to cannibalize sales of their most profitable engine.
Ecoboost = EcoBoom blown head gaskets before 2020.
They make a Whipple Supercharger for the 7.3 Godzilla
I love it when they go so deep
That's what she said
It costs the same amount to build the 6.8 as the 7.3, 6.8 was introduced to charge more fore the 7.3
Pretty sure the 7.3 is forged internals and the 6.8 is cast.
I do wish you had ask about the CP4 changes and why they keep using it, other than they need that 36,000 lb squirt.
This guy probably doesn’t even know what a CP4 is. He only knows the surface stuff
I had an 23 F350 at 1500 miles a charging system fault came on and it was un fixable so much it was declared a lemon by Ford, I then picked up a 24 F250 after everything was said and done
