    Cheap tires usually don't last as long and the companies don't offer warranties that match other brands. Toyo for example has a lifetime warranty on the tires, at least when I bought them. The price is steep but they were a really good tire. I have cooper discoverers on now and they work great too and were a lot cheaper. But if something were to go wrong for whatever reason I'd be paying out of pocket. So far the difference in lifespan of the tires seems to be minimal. I've noticed no difference. My toyos lasted me 70k and they were pretty bald. I'm at 55k with my coopers. Seems to me they'll last till 70 as well.

      John Doe I have Toyo on my Ram Rebel, which come stock on the Rebel, and they seem like great tires. I've used Cooper Discoverer for my previous few trucks and my wife's Ford Fusion and they're great tires. Don't know what I'll do when I need tires. They're both great brands.

      Mike G. Ram rebels are badass dude I've secretly wanted one for a while. I just need a diesel for the towing. Maybe if they offered a diesel power wagon I'd bite the bullet on that thing. They're sweet too.

    • @Mik1414g
      @Mik1414g Před 6 lety

      John Doe I wasn't too keen on the Rebel when I first saw it. It seemed to look unfinished because of the grill but now that I have one, I have a different perspective. The overall comfort and ride is like no other truck I've had before. Lots of room inside and I'm still on the fence with the Ram Box. Things have to fit in like a puzzle where things don't have to fit perfectly in the toolbox. Overall, the truck is awesome all polished up and I've taken pics of it down by Lake Erie. I'll be hanging on to this 2015 Ram Rebel for awhile.

    I see a lot of 20, 22 and 24” wheels that are 14” wide or more, the wheels are $700 to $1000 a piece and they have the Aturro trail blade (Cheap). I’ve put Toyo M/Ts on every truck in the last 15 years and they are the best, my last truck had 38x15.5x20 $580 each, new truck just leveled with Bilstein coils stayed with 35x12.5x20 . I thought they would be e way cheaper, nope they are 12 ply for the TPMS still $540 each. Smoothest riding mud tire ever. 30 years ago all we had were giant bias ply swamper tsl, you’ve never known excitement until you drive a set of 44s and stay in one lane.

    I've had Toyo Open Country R/T 37s x 13.5 on my '14 2500 for almost 60,000 miles and there's still some tread left until the wear bar. Buy good tires and rotate them every 5,000 miles and they'll last a long time.

    Another recommendation for SouthBend here. I've had zero issues with mine on my 2012. Just note that a normal dual disk is good up to 650 hp. Injectors, CP3 mods, tuning, and 2nd gen swap can easily push you north of that. I'm currently running stock fueling with the exception of a FASS pump with a BD 2nd gen turbo, and MM3 tuning. I'm stopping there because I don't want to overpower my dual disk.

    @ricksmead2530 Před 6 lety

    very true. I ordered the wheels and tires to my truck online and instead of being shipped with the tires I asked for they were accidentally shipped with a set of federal m/t and when I called the company was great they said we will refund you the balance or you can send them back and we will fix it. I had my truck getting the lift when they showed up so I needed tires so I kept the cheap ones. im 7k on these tires and not only does my truck vibrate but I have very noticeable wear on my fronts. I got it aligned again thinking that had something to do with the problem and its not.. ill be buying new tires after 7k on a set because I didn't wanna wait for the incorrect shipment to be corrected... great video buddy

    Brand is more important the price. If you bought a $200-$300 tire (cheap compared to the open country's) from Firestone, goodyear, BFG, etc. Its still going to be a good tire, because they are well known, reputable, high quality tire manufacturer. Just sayin, you don't necessarily need to spend $500+ per tire. Also if you can live with not having the biggest tires, you can scale the size down a few inches and save quite a bit.

  • @chadt5197
    @chadt5197 Před 6 lety +1

    This guy is on point. Had Atturos.......they sucked. Have Toyo RTs.......awesome. Balanced a lot better, rides great. Well worth the investment. Also come with a 45k mile warranty. Be sure to do the chalk test to verify the right contact patch. A lot of tire dealers put way too much pressure in the tires. Running 35s on my 1500, 45-50 psi is perfect. Also, get an alignment.

    just so you know the speedometer corrector allows you to change your gear ratio as well. it allows fine tune adjustments on tires like a 1/4 inch at a time I'd buy one because most tuners cant tell your truck it had gears changed granted I have an auto so it's prolly more important

    I've owned everything from good year, general, and kuhmo to Cooper. And so far the best bang for the buck has been my Amp Terrain Grippers. They aren't stupid expensive, have a 40k warranty (I'm nearing 45k on mine). From Lincoln National Forrest to 50 miles of beach driving down PINS, they have never failed me. They were also the only tires in the 35x12.50R20 with an E load rating that weren't a nightmare to balance oddly enough.

    • @ryan2546
      @ryan2546  Před 6 lety

      AFORWW you got a lucky set my friend, beware of amp tires, I once mounted balanced dismounted and remounted I shit you not 20 amp tires and had a constant vibration and would not balance before the customer switched to another brand. Don’t get me wrong I’ve had sets of amps work however I stay away from them because of the issues, also lucky to last 45k, usually people come back at 15-20k miles for other things and they’re completely gone.

    • @saltwaterrook4638
      @saltwaterrook4638 Před 6 lety

      Ryan Mayer that's wild. These have been great. Especially with everything I've given them. Beach driving down here ain't easy on tires. Shell, glass, wood, misc debris washed up on the beach. put these on at 51k miles. I'm at 84k now and I'm getting to the wear bar. It's also my daily driver. So 45min one way highway commute every day.

Haida mt are a solid tire too. You're just saying this from a salesman perspective. Even if I just get 20k out of a set I can just buy another and get 2 sets of tires for one and have new tires more often

    @PsychoRookie Před 6 lety

    When I spend that much money on a pickup I do not put oversize tires on it, nor do I put cheap tires on. Larger tires put a unnecessary strain on your transmission, front end, ruin gas mileage, and don't handle as well on the highway. As far as what is best for your pickup, 6 ply, load range "C" with a pressure around 50 psi is not what is better for your pickup. What is better for your pickup is a load range "E" with a 60 psi front and a 70 psi rear inflation (45 psi non load rear). If you want to preach what is best for your pickup, then put on the tires that are recommended. If you want to talk how cool it looks then you can talk about putting large tires on it that are not designed for towing or hauling anything. Your pickup looks nice, but please don't tell people how great the tires are for your pickup when they only create more wear and tear to mechanical parts which in the future will be more expensive to fix then the tires.

      Ryan Mayer So you're saying theyre alright tires? Ive heard mixed reviews on them but the bad reviews mostly come from heavy truck owners. My truck is a rcsb silverado and only weighs about 4000 and the only hauling I do is hauling my ATV to the mud park every other weekend.

      Dom Forte Yes. I run them and really like them. No clue on what kind of mileage I'll get because I only have 2k on mine. I'm running the 325/50r22 on 22x14. They're not too loud and ride smooth on a silverado

    • @jacobn3160
      @jacobn3160 Před 6 lety

      Dom Forte Some other good tires around that price range are Gladiator mt, atturo trail blade, haida mt, mile king (Same as Haida mt), Road one cavalry (Balance great, I liked these and they're dirt cheap). I've run all these, I really liked all of them. All the ones I ran were 35's in a 20-24

      All of their tires are. I went from the MT to the AT because I live near the beach now and drive up to 55 miles down that beach a couple times a week. The A/Ts were way better for the sand. Love AMP tires. I also commute 45min one way every day on the highway. I'm running 35x12.50R20s and I'm at 45k miles. Will probably get another 10k on em. And I'm not easy on tires.

    Tires extended beyond the wheel wells are a danger to the public! The treads can throw rocks and thru windshields! It's happened to me twice and I wouldn't want anyone to go thru that. A simple fix would be wheel well extension flares.

    Great advice!!!! Especially if all your gonna do is parade around in a truck meant for WORK doin it on the pavement. I dont get it...$571,2,3,4 on mud tires you wear out on pavement. Make a video gettin that bitch muddy. I DARE YOU. Honestly, how do you think you are qualified to give advice on a mud tire? You clearly dont let so much as a rain shower dampen that truck with all your performance mods and off-road stuff without washing it. Stick to advice on tires that folks will run on the street it will maybe help em'!!!! If your gonna recommend a certain mud / off-road tire then actually use it.

    nobody listen to this man i’ve had nitto trail grapplers mickey thompsons and toyos goodyear wranglers and i’ve also had brands like federal kanati amp mts and they all wear and ride the same. honestly the trail grapplers wore the worst.(had to replace them at 35k) my kanati trail hogs have 45k and still have 40% tread life. most tire shops will replace a tire you receive that’s out of round
