- Now that we know what minerals are, how can we identify them? Geologists use a number of properties of minerals to figure out which mineral they are looking at. The first two we will examine are luster and color. Let's get a closer look!

That was genuinely a treat to watch !. We're so lucky that you're the only one to deal with such amazing and forgotten topics. A side note also that this topics are never easy to explain especially in a brief video but fortunately for us you give a new definition for excellency.
@@VestigialHead i meant for an average learner like me i never had the chance to dive deeply in such topic since the majority of youtube educational channels offers the most topics related strictly to medicine, biology, chemistry, etc.. so to find a well known channel that encompasses all what science has to offer is quite exciting for me :)
@@VestigialHead i maybe misspoke, my second language isn't that strong :)
Yo the amount of highly insightful information packed into 8 mins here is actually incredible. Well done.
What a saint. Internet's #1 database
Honestly, this guy would've made me ace Org back in college, lmao
Gotta say. Quality content with intellectual literature used in this video, Huge thanks for educating more than millions of students and probably saving their marks on their
test.
its nice weve gon back to the cool science tutorials after the amount of ppl needing to be debunked by the genius dave tho that was realy fun to watch this is interesting
You’re videos without the outdo and the intro would be great bro I could almost fall asleep to your words of wisdom or at least get in the zone ya feel me g
This might be random, but have you done a video on elements used in classic paints? Thanks, Dave!
Pigments are made from all sorts of things like eg elephant urine provided the elephants have only eaten mango leaves 🍃 you should probably know this 😅 if you’re watching this video however aboriginal art would consist of more elements than classical European paints
I love learning about minerals
Wow, good lesson and really valuable, thank you my dear teacher for the valuable knowledge you have given us. Thank you again, God bless you teacher
1:04 what great names for a rewrite of the 7 dwarfs. Seriously though, very informative video.
omg I have always wanted to know where minerals like ruby get their color. TYSM!
How did you become so knowledgeable on so many different an diverse subjects? I am amazed by your brain.
He signed some contract from the devil.

Thanks
Thank you for covering this material! Mineralogy can be a difficult topic for undergrads.
We love you sir

Amazing
Cool and thanks Dave.
Color scales and mapping might he a cool topic, talk some pantone maybe? Flat verse gloss? Four bit colors were a big thing.
Technically all corundum that aren't rubies are called sapphire, doesn't require they be blue.
Professor Dave: Can you comment on opal? It's my birthstone (October) and I've never been in a position to conduct the tests you're describing here on opal. I'd assume that opal is some kind of hydrated silica based on its outward appearance, but opals I've seen come in many different colors and degrees of translucency. Does this mean that different opals pick up different trace metals to produce different colors? Thanks again for these informative videos!
