- How's that for two titles in a row?
Thank you for watching today's video! We set 30 new concrete barriers, and two new 12.5' "Jersey Barriers" at the abandoned racetrack, effectively finishing a giant project that's been nagging at me for a year.
This was done with the help from my great friend Eric, and Track Sponsor - Superior Property Services LLC (SPS).

Having worked at a local track as a teenager, and my father heavily involved in it as well, I'd say most local track owners, promoers, and workers don't do it for the money. They usually do it for the love of the sport, many volunteer their time just to keep it going. Local sponsors do what they can with what they have to give, again just to be involved. Motorsports are a true American tradition. Not exclusively American, but certainly All American spirit. Well done. I'll be following along from North Jersey. Have fun and be safe.
This is exactly my experience in the real world doing this. Great, well informed comment, and well said.
Pretty confident 99% of the peeps viewing this understand why.
I agree 100%. The ramble fest may have been pointless, but at the end of the day it was a good reminder to keep pushing.
I love the smell of burning rubber!
Yes well said
I think it's safe to say that The Abandoned Racetrack is no longer abandoned. I commend you for what you are doing.
I completely agree, and changed the video title accordingly.
@@Greenlightfilming I can't wait to see what you do next!
Thanks for checking out todays video! To my Canadian friends, I hope the weight translation made more sense then how we do things here.
If you want to support the track, please share the video! It's free, and truly makes an impact.
Also about 31 male kangaroos over here 😂
Definitely consider Go Kart racing if there are enough people interested. Would be an amazing track for that. Ignore the negative people. They are miserable so they spread their misery. This is why there lives are meaningless and sad. The loss of so many tracks to development has been brutal, and to see some brought back and alive with activity is so powerful. Thank you!
The Go Karting deal is complicated.
Everyone local races them on clay, not asphalt. The clay Karting track I have is underwater and needs a 100% rebuild.
We may pump the water out and see what the track is like, then go from there. Unfortunately it all ends up costing money, and at the end of the day pennies matter here lol.
More to come on that. We sort of have a plan to work on it.
@@Greenlightfilming also unfamiliar with karting but wouldn’t teams just need clay and asphalt tires? Easy swap or is it more complicated than that
@@RyanLoeffler_ Yes it is as easy to swap as that on the most part. The big issue just comes with resistance to change and getting people to do something they aren’t comfortable with
I can see this would have been a fun track to race karts on, and is really too small for cars, but with those concrete barriers right next to the track now, Kart racing is pretty much off the table. Those things would kill someone on a Kart if they hit them.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronicsoutside walls kill any kind of racing. I never understood why everyone with a small track needs to put solid Wall around it that destroys equipment and creates a massive Hazzard and possibly of death or serious injury by creating a Hazzard of a stopped vehicle against the wall being hit by other vehicles. This was such a stupid modification. Someone's kid can get killed or serious injury hitting a solid concrete wall or being hit after hitting the wall. I would never ever allow my child to race of a track with a solid concrete wall in a go cart.
You should shoot out an email to Cleetus and Dale Jr. Both of those guys are all about bringing back small tracks and are both down to earth good people. They could bring something to the table if not just some wisdom if that was all you wanted.
As a autocrosser for more than 4 decades, I applaud you sir
Its not perfect for everyone, but its perfect for you and the fans . Keep it going
At the end of the day, "why" isn't important. It's "that" you are doing something not only because you can but the fact that its for the community. To make something that many people get to enjoy has got to be one of the best feelings! Keep it up you're doing an amazing job!
Quite a few of us Aussies loving this. Keep up the great work. It's coming together.
Been watching this from the start o love the effort and how well its going..
I saw some other comments and i would echo them. If it were me i would put the concrete barriers along the fence line and not so close to the track.
You could then put a layer of tyres infront of the barriers. If you can get some old used conveyor belt rubber you can attach that to the tyres to stop cars and karts splitting the tyre pile.. this would provide energy absorbtion for cars and Karts to stop injury and broken parts but also stop then getting to spectators..
Everyone is happy then.
Forget the naysayers guys! You're doing a awesome job for your community, as well as the bugs!
Followed this journey from the UK from the start absolutely fantastic what you have done - Keep it up
Definitely support this, If this ever becomes big maybe expand walls around the track and add grandstands and fences and other safety stuff and think about running asphalt late models or something close to it out there if you got the funding, and maybe move the barriers right around the corner of the track on the edge of the concerete.
As money allows more infrastructure will be dropped on site! Thanks for watching and dropping the good luck comment. Apprexiate it, dude 🤘
He's not lying. It's the worst year of mosquitos ever up here!
I think your small incremental approach is the perfect one for what you are doing, as rather than waiting for months or years while you try and raise a much larger amount of money why the track continues to degrade, people can get out and use it now.
Plus while you are doing that you are building up a track record of arranging events and day to day maintenance which also makes it more likely that you can continue to get investments from other people and companies to slowly expand what you can do at your track. Not every track needs to be up to hosting large races as everyone needs to start somewhere and your tack look like a good place for lots of people to get started.
Why? Because you can. Your passion. Your dream. Your work. Your money. Why not? 👍🏼
If someone can’t articulate anything other than the word ‘why’ then they don’t deserve a response.
It’s pretty obvious what you’re trying to achieve here & you’re doing an amazing job. Keep up the great work 🇬🇧
Well, I agree to that when you put it that way. I can't deny that it did make me stand back and reflect ha. It's a nig project but I'm in for the long haul. It'll be really cool in the next couple of years as money allows.
Your living every racers dream owning his own track
Build a Big Burn out pad and get Cletus crew there and you will sky rocket!
It‘s always kind of crazy to see what a few modifications make a difference 🙏
Please keep up the good work and especially the love and money you put into your not anymore abandoned racetrack 👏👍
Best regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋
Dude, if you hadn't bought the track there would likely be a housing development there now, keep up the good fight and get whatever motorsports you can at your track. Been following along since you bought the track, so cool to see the rejuvenation of a small town raceway. Thanks for all of the hard work, money, and sweat equity you have invested... from a guy that probably wouldn't have made the leap to buy an abandoned race track. 😁
Mate, I'm from the UK and fully get why you are doing this and tip my hat to you. I do think at a later date you need to add more track and corners to open it up do a larger variety of cars, Karts etc. But keep going fella and i hope this channel will grow and help you more.
I completely agree with you. When mimes allows I'll be having more paving laid for sure. The insurance is prohibitive for opening it up to karts right now.
The effort you and the rest of the staff put into this place is incredible. We all appreciate what you’ve done for the racing community and sharing the process behind it
It takes a village, that's for sure! I was incredibly naive a couple of years ago when I started down this path. What an eye opener it's been, ha.
It's incredible how much work it is to make look like nothing was done!!!!
@@waynewilliams839 I couldn’t imagine all the track prep dirt track guys have to do after their races just to get the place back to “normal”
As someone who previously raced Karts, I understand why these concrete barriers are needed for spectating car racing and car racing is what you are into! But you did remove the option for Karts to ever race here again. No one in their right mind would race Karts with concrete barriers this close to the track.
Can he throw hay bails in front of the concrete? What other options have you seen?
North Wilkesboro was abandoned and falling apart here in NC for years but they finally renovated it and ran their first race a couple weeks ago (and with plenty of driver drama!!).
I'm pulling for you I hope you get it up and running and have thousands of people Show up and put on very good races. We need all the race tracks we can get. I think it's amazing would be awesome to do what you're doing.
Well done mate, great work, from a guy in Australia that loves motorsport history.
Thanks buddy. Appreciate your support by watching progress from the other end of the planet 🤘
Same here. 👍
With some lighting and a few stands for people, I could see this track becoming a big thing. Definitely need concession stands too. If you build it, they will come. This is so awesome, and I hope you keep up with the dream.
Been following your journey 🎉 from Australia 🇦🇺
Much respect for your work and passion mate 👍 can't wait to see you grow and succeed 🎉🎉
Bad gas travels fast in a small town. But good gas travels just as fast! I think once there are consistent events that should help the track live a bit more. First year is always an uncertainty but I hope that everything works out and the track is here for good.
It absolutely does. You are spot on correct. Fortunately, this has been extremely positive locally. Even through the internet it's overwhelmingly positive.
Except the two guys living in mom's basement. Ha
I imagine any (classic/ youngtimer) make/model owners club could be interested in hosting their yearly event at the track? There's plenty of room for putting cars on the grass and also room on the track to have owners go and have some fun with their cars (timed sprints, slaloms, whatever)
I can't believe it's been 2 years already!
For your reference to North Wilkesboro Speedway: the North Carolina state legislature passed a bill in 2020-21 that put $40 million towards rehab of three tracks (North Wilkesboro, North Carolina/Rockingham, and Charlotte) and reopening of at least North Wilkesboro; not included (according to the Wikipedia article on North Wilkesboro) was planned future renovations to the North Wilkesboro facilities.
Was that Covid money?
Push it to the limit!! YEAH.
There seems to be ways of joining tires to make a bundle /group that are way more effective at stopping vehicles . The bundles can resist a heavy impact and do not fly apart into single tires . They are heavy and either need towing or lifting to shift . Many at very high dollar tracks have vinyl fascia .
I suspect either chain or cable is used to manufacture them .
Thanks for your work, I've worked at Perris auto speedway 28years and appreciate your work. You're providing a play ground for us ! Have fun!!!😊
Good man! Thats a long haul to work at any racetrack.
Fortunately I have the best boss in the world!!
Dude ! - Just wanna say Thanx - Nuff Said
Looks like R/C racing is popular in Wisconsin. You could easily dig up a nice track for that crowd including the paved surface. Surely insurance for that would be lower cost. Plus it makes more expisure by adding new viewers on social media.
Has anyone suggested a 9 hole disc golf course back at the Lake Track and the unfinished track? Because someone should suggest a 9 hole disc golf course back at the Lake Track and the unfinished track. More things for peeps (and kids) to do during race weekend. And maybe host a tourny someday too.
Dude, that's actually a great idea.
Looking Great Mr Greenlight! Lil track is taking shape!! Can't wait for the next event 🔥💯🤘🇺🇸🔥💯🤘🇺🇸🔥💯🤘🇺🇸
I think what you are doing is great. My father had a track in AZ and he had a job for the city and did not have the funds to make it huge but we had two hundred cars every weekend and had fun racing it was great
The place is looking fantastic !
Thanks Dave 👍
Well done my friend keeping the track alive coming to ya"ll from South Carolina
Awesome man, keep it up! I think it's cool that CZcams gives you the ability to bring in some more revenue and extend your reach for merchandise to help fund the track. Hopefully you'll be able to have more events, perhaps by adding other types like karting that you mentioned. It would take a lot of your time, but if you have events each weekend you create a rhythm that each weekend or specific nights of the week where people could come out. With our short warm seasons up North, I feel like you would have to maximize the time that you have.
would be really cool to see 1000 sponsors give $1000 each. then put it in an account making 5% apy. That would give 50k a year return that could be put into the track to help it operate. I know that sounds far fetched, but it could work. Keep up the good work.
If I had the opportunity to do what you are doing, I would do it in a heart beat! I'm sure there's so much involved and a lot of headaches but that is the dream to have your own track to rip on whenever you want! Good for you man, hopefully everything works out well for you for many years to come!
Absolutely. The rare time that I'm driving on it, I love it all over again haha. It's a project farm, but it's been worth it.
Hey there...some ideas for you.
Get some track name stencils or sponsor stencils and spray on concrete blocks.......could charge businesses per advertising block.
You could also use track for cycling......racers/road bikes??
Buy a couple of sheds and place near main spectator area with some picnic benches. Use and convert sheds to sell cold drinks and snacks......?
Have you thought of adding a rock garden (old rocks, rubble, concrete, logs etc) over back of the roads for rc crawler rock crawler course...really big thing and could host events....u could use lake for rc boats....plus use main straight for runway for rc planes??? Contact a local rc store for ideas, sponsorship and help? Create by placing multiple boulders n rocks and set up mini gates to create course..?
Stock lake with fish and charge for fishing?? Bass blue gill etc.
All the spare land round outside you could create a mountain bike course...small bumps and berms....odd bigger jump. Make into a loop...do a smaller one called a pump track...another way to get people paying to use land...just use digger to create course?or use as bmx track?offroad motorbike track etc.
Few ideas for you....
Good luck on your raceway.
Peace.
North Wilkesboro speedway is owned by the same guy that owns Charlotte motor speedway, Las Vegas motor speedway, Z max drag strip in Charlotte and he owns the Z Max zinc additive company. The only reason he closed that track initially was because NASCAR told him to. He is also the reason why Rockingham motor speedway closed down. He bought that track and used the dates for his new track at the time Las Vegas motor speedway.
🔥 hopefully your track will be financially successful
I'm praying to all of the gods too 🤣
You have a vision and a dream and drive to make it happen..in my book that equals success 👍 just a thought..there is a track here in my state of Florida now called the freedom factory and he hosts all sorts of events..he is in the central part of the state...I am sure he would have a wealth of knowledge on your venture. I for one say.. see your goal and find a way to make it happen and you're doing just that one step at a time. I truly applaud your efforts.😇🏍️🏁🏎️🇺🇸🛠️😎
We have a great track on Long Island in Riverhead,it’s been a struggle to keep it open with all the developments popping up but we’re still racing !!! Keep up the good work.
That seems to be the demise of a ton of tracks. The property ends up being more valuable than operating the racetrack, so the owners sell.
I see continuing progress in every video . That will lead to great things my friend 👌
Just do your best bud that's all you can do much love from New Zealand
You need to make an “at the end of the day” t-shirt 😂 love the videos, keep up the good work!
Ha. I wish there was a good way to shorten the phrase up 😆
11:47 - Shouldn't the blocks be set back a bit so there isn't a hard edge on the transition from barrier to blocks?
Looking so much better. I feel you on the always something to upgrade thing
I am following you almost since you began the restauration of the track. I love the video you Share ! Keep it up man!
Cheers from France 🇫🇷 !
Night racing under lights might suit your racers and get your track fully utilised . As a result your gate taking will increase and club bank balance ill go up . Allowing more track upgrades . I suggest lights because your tack would only need 4 light towers /or 2 central towers . thinkin out loud
Keep it up helps us all drivers
I love what your doing... If i was USA based I would help you for nothing......Best wishes from the UK
Huge respect to you guys….. just for giving a duck !
Pay a guy to spray for mosquitos with them stihl sprayers....u won't regret it...works amazing for several weeks
amazing video again, caught up recently. i would say, maybe consider using the 3rd track as like a quad space, in non event days you can do there some quad racing to generate some extra cash. you can use the skidsteer to make dirt barriers and then lets adults and maybe kids have a fun like 10 lap race. with a little investment it could generate some nice cash to use for other stuff in and around the track.
The freedom factory is a racetrack in Florida that was abandon now is a functioning racetrack
I've been auto crossing (18 yrs) and course designing (15 yrs+ at airports to parking lots to oval tracks- from very large to very small). The scariest courses for competitors were at the oval tracks with concrete barriers so close. After 2 years, our club decided the risk to cars was too great to continue at the oval track. Place one wheel wrong, or be too exuberant and its a bad day. I think that while your concrete barrier is good from a spectator standpoint, they will be a concerning for competitors. Perhaps run the barriers much further off the track edge, following the fence line instead. Remove the concrete barriers on the actual track edge near the mid section and move those behind the fences. Remove all the grass (slippery when wet) between the outer course edge and the concrete and replace with clear gravel ($$$). You don't need so many concrete barriers in the central area of the track- only 2- 3 should be necessary. As a track worker, we stand a few feet off the course edges and pay strict attention (no cell phone use or photography while on duty as a worker). Since you only have one car on course at a time, its easy to keep track. SCCA autocross rules are designed to set the course elements at least 50-75 feet away from solid barriers and at no time should elements be facing towards solid barriers - eg, don't have exit points to elements facing the barriers (others can chime in to correct me). Otherwise, I really appreciate what you've done so keep on!
I see what you mean about the proximity of the barriers to the course itself. We are spatially limited, and moving them closer to the fenceline isn't an option.
We have a required setback for spectators, which is why things landed where they did.
During your time working/running at circle tracks with continuous walls.
How many people ended up contacting the wall or barriers etc?
@@Greenlightfilming thankfully, we never had an incident, but the courses were designed to keep cars away from the walls. Good course design will keep it as safe as possible.
If you think the walls wont move when a full size car hits them u are mistaken. Look at how far toast pushed the walls back when cleetus hit them. Unless there anchored in the ground a out of control full size vehicle can move them a few feet easily. Honestly u needed to dig a trench a foot into the ground so the wall is stable and has some structure. There sitting on grass so easy to push through if a 3500 or 4000lb cars out of control throttle hung wide open.
Far Out! What you are doing here is amazing and i pay massive tribute to you. I live in Australia and only wish i lived closer so i could offer some assistance. Keep at it mate the Motorsport world needs more of Guys like you
Bleachers would be nice.
They sure would.
The track looks a little small for full size cars but you could probably run legend car races and drift events. Really cool to see someone bring a track back!
It works great actually
@@Greenlightfilming that’s awesome man! If you can a weekly series going that would be fantastic!
Great job
You should look in to setting some racing curbs
Looks amazing. Keep up the great work. If I didn't live in NY I would come to volunteer to help.
Thanks Tim, appreciate it!
paint them alternating red/white like Nurburging and other big tracks!
Your intro tune is 🔥
Man I really love what you're getting to do their man I've been watching these videos from the start when you first got it man that be so awesome just to come there and volunteer time is so cool what you're getting to do thank you for sharing
Thanks dude! All of the positive waves sent through the internet are great. Appreciate your continued support 👍
People said why. But people don’t give to you 100,00 o moore to build the race track just keep going and have fun lot race track on this day close 👍🏼👍🏼
Keep going mate hope and pray you will be successful. Respect!
Thanks buddy, appreciate the support!
who cares why your doing it, if it makes you happy and you enjoy it that's enough reason!
Really coming together now mate. Been a fan of this series since you started the project. I was in the States last week for work and considered heading to see if I could find it, but ran out of time sadly. Next time!
Much love from Scotland. 😊
Another great video form the goat love the cars and the track can’t wait to see what’s next
I’ve been a member of the abandoned track group for a while. Love it!
Its Looking good I hope you have a great season
Thanks Kenny, appreciate the support. Next autocross is June 17th. Really hoping to add other Motorsports activities to our policy when we go to renew this late summer/early fall.
It's an awful, complicated deal.
cool bro, your doing hella good work. never ever let anyone tell u different ur the captiain.
I enjoy your videos and were you're going with the track. You might want to rethink the corner concrete siding, where it changes to the block type. It could be a catch trap if people come off at that corner. I'd move the block type ones ti the straight, just a thought.
i feel like the story of North Wilkesboro serves that of hope to race tracks, in a time where many famous race tracks like hickory, USA International, and most recently Greenville Pickens have fallen due to them being sold and demolished (exception of Greenville, their still in limbo), theres ones that still can be saved, and places like this place is an example of that
I appreciate you breaking everything down on this video I enjoy the extra information
I hope it was the moose analogy
Iv loved this series of videos you can be proud knowing from then 1st to today. And you done on a shoe string budget with friends and local community backing. thank you from Australia
Have you hit up the 1/5th scale or 1/8th scale RC communities
Get some mini cup cars on that track 😀
Incredible work! Keep it up!

Nice!!
Looking good Always Forward
Thank you! 👍
Keep up your good work it's realy coming on it's looking good.
We are getting there, slowly but surely 💪
Keep up the good work my man
Thank you!!! I really appreciate the support like this from you guys. Donating a couple of bucks does make a difference in these projects when money is tight.
Keep up the videos! Been following since the beginning!
Ha, so you've been along for the ride on the turtles back with a lot of us. I really appreciate the continued support.
Progress is slow, but steady.
It is really looking great! Cant wait to see if you have any more projects bringing this beauty back to life

Cool to see what you have done with what you got and where it continues to go. Has come a long way....
It certainly has. Major changes in the last couple of years, that's for sure.
