Count runs are huge for consistent rune drops , runes for crafting . Merge runes up all day . Slow , but steady rune collection. I've got my count runs down to 1 to 1.5 mins with my hammerdin . So glad they lowered the timer between games so I don't have to wait all that extra time between runs when it's fast
Slow is an understatement. I stopped merging runes when I figured out a Shael is 0.015% of a Pul, which is the first decently tradeable rune. In other words, you need about 6.500 Shaels to get a Pul, and a flurry of chipped and flawed gems. It's such tiny value that it's not even worth picking up. I just keep 5 of each type of low rune in case I need them for runewords or recipes, and the rest I don't pick up or sell.
@@mrkiky he may not be talking about shaels. I think he means Dol, Ko, lums and etc. if i spend all day I could end up with a Mal sometimes Ist on good drops. Plus finding the occasional um to ist once every two to 4 days.

I find that nova sorceress is the best for countess runs because her and the minions of hers are not immune to lighting however the dark archers in tower level 5 are lighting immune. You can still kill the countess anyway as they’re not a problem.
Got this video recommended through the algorithm. Kept sort of listening instead of watching while making food for the sleeping toddler. "What a nice relaxing voice he has", I thought.

I know your pain brother I've been trying to get a second ber room for like the last 2 months. I've gotten windForce, the crown of Ages a bunch of other things I don't need. But runes they elude me.
What's funny is I get people all the time attack me in comments for making a video that a didn't get a ton of great drops. Like ya, sorry for being honest right?
My highest rune drop in the tower was JAH from the little ghost when I’m on the way to Countess
that happened to me too, a ber from a little ghost way to countess
@@mehmetciftci4447 they have the smallest loot drop tables, so they tend to drop more runes than most monsters.
Found a Mal rune on my last run. I'm currently leveling a frenzy Barb because I'm one key away from two full sets.
I have probably ran the countess less than 50 times and I had a Lo rune drop. I guess I’m extremely lucky.
i got a tone of KEYS in 20 years but never a LO rune lolll

When I first got to hell back in Sept I ran countess for like two weeks. Got two Surs and a Cham. Blessed.
I did 6 hours of runs for t keys only got 1 key lol
my buddy got 2 jahs in less than 100 countess runs. some people are just lucky

It's funny on my first Hell SP playthrough a few weeks ago first countess dropped me an ist rune and hellforge quest also dropped me an ist rune.
I remember got a Lo rune to drop, was going to make a fort but lacked the el rune (who really keeps els laying around?!) On my second run I got my el rune. And a vex. Best rune drop from her ive ever had.
You just motivated me to go back to the countess. I got a um rune yesterday, but that was it I'm trying to get a lo ruining myself for my mercenary
Countess dropped an Ist for me shortly after clearing Hell difficulty, swapped it for a Shako which I still use. I pick up all runes though and cube them up so I also pick up all gems I can find in order to do that.
I stopped picking every rune to cube it. Not worth the the time you spend. Lems start to drop so fequently that anything above that is no worth it in my opinion. I just recently started gathering gems to roll grand charms and really regret not doing it before. I rerroled a skiller in 4 tries the first time and on first try the second time I tried... Unbeliavable luck on that. But from now on, rerolling gcs always!
I got the Lo!! I could not believe it (only screenshot I ever got to store from the game). Became a 40/382 Grief, so I was very impressed overall. To compensate, RNG treated me terribly ever since.

2 Lo runes so far from tower. One from countess and one from a fallen mob next to her room. And also a handful of ists/mals/ums and pul runes. Not to mention about 50 t keys from that streak. Think I farmed her on and off for a few weeks straight.

I had two guls, and ohm all within 30 minutes. I stopped after that because I felt I was on a luck run and I didn't want to waste it all
When I started playing d2r I got an Ist on my 4th countess run. Pretty much just resigned myself to that being my peak :(
Found a Sur rune from one of the countesses minions. It says online that rune only drops from act 3 hell and above. Must be lucky or really rare.
I have found a fal rune from a barrel, never close to that from countess.
So in your opinion on what /players mode i should farm Lem runes ? 1 or 8?

Recently I was running countess solo on bnet in the mornings while I was waiting for my coffee to kick in.
A week ago in roughly 20 runs I found 2 ists and an ohm. The ist were dropped back to back in 2 runs. One from the countess, the other is from a fallen.
I was literally laughing my ass off in front of the screen, than got an ohm a few runs later from the countess.
I could not believe it. Probably my biggest most lucky sessions I have ever had in D2 :D

I dont think you got Ohm from countess herself, her loottable ends at ist rune. Her adds can drop up to Lo
This reminds me of me farming up to level 80 on a sorc searching for tals set. I did well over 200 pit runs and then I was fighting a fallen pack just outside pit entrance. No joke, I kill the pack and drop a set amulet which happens to be the tals set. Then I enter the pits and the first champion pack drops tals armour. I was almost as excited when I got my first jah rune in the pits 😁
@@dzec5454 the special rune drop table ends at IST. Her normal rune drop table goes up to LO.
I have probably done 1000 countess runs in the past 2 months and funny enough I have had a SOJ and a vex drop BEFORE the countess but that damn countess has never dropped higher than Lem for me 🤦🏻♂️
if found an ist yesterday by just shooting a barrel on my way to the countess and she droped another ist + a lem , i got myself my first mosaic and a treachery . YEAH !

People tend to sleep on Countess, when it comes to getting rich. Once torch prices start going down, people immediately assume farming keys won't be worth it. After probably 8k Count runs, I have a full stash of Mals, ums, Ists, puls and lems (I have another stash slowly filling up too). It's not as fast as other strategies but it's consistent. Would I recommend key farming past 4 months of D2r release? No, but from first hand experience I can tell you it is definitely a viable strategy for getting rich, well past people's predicted expiration dates set early on.
Ive run countess close to a thousand times and never gotten anything higher than pul.
I got a Mal rune killing mobs on the way to the Tower once.

I clear countess in almost every game i make. Typically i'm also key hunting, I have only ever got 1 Ist and a few Mal from her to date. The other Mid runes i get have allowed me to cube up to Ohm at this point though
It's a shame to cube up mid to high runes if you're playing online though. Since the drop chances are not proportional to the quantities needed to cube them, it's much more lucrative to trade up. You need 64 Ists to cube up to a Ber, but you can trade 64 Ists for 2 Bers and and a Sur.

Since this, I used the Ohm to make a CTA, that rolled 664, traded up to a Ber, Jah, Lo. Along with my first ever Ber Drop, I have Infinity.
@@kw5150 Well, the time needed to put up a fair offer and wait for someone to accept is definitely orders of magnitude lower than the time needed to farm more than double the Ists. Sure some people are horrible lowballers, but if you put up a fair offer, someone will take it in a couple of hours tops.
I got Gul from her two days ago. It suprised me, because i was sure she drops only up to Ist
She can only drop an Ist for the rune drop, but up to Lo for her personal monster table drop
I got 2 Vex off of her.... different runs about a week apart
i did 50 runs yesterday, got 5 puls, 1 mal, 2 ist and a bunch of kos and lower, zero lems. i think i was quite lucky
i found my first ber here in the castle dropped by rakinishus :D
I'm still running countess trying to find one rune but one run she dropped jalas mane I was like 😱
Lightning sorc is the farmer of choice for this one do a run in about 2 min if I have no trouble finding doors

By far my favorite run. I run a sorce w T-storm and Nova (Orb and hydra as well). I take my time getting there w each run between 5-8 mins. It never fails I find multiple runes on the way. I'll cube 'em up all day. I have no shame. (I have knocked out several runs in under 5 mins but they didn't seem as successful)
Finally someone who has inventory space to actually quickly pick stuff up instead of open inventory, click on item, manually drag it in the cube :-S

Io and Lo rune are 2 different runes. I hope you got a Lo rune though.
I would suggest still picking up Magic Scepters. There's a chance for +2 Pally, +3 BHammer Scepters. Of course that Scepter can roll all the way to +2 Pally, 10 FCR, +3 B Hammer, +3 Concentrate, +3 Vigor.
The chances of them dropping with those perfect Mods is incredibly slight, but even iterations that are less than that while still similar will go for large amounts of items/HRs. Not picking them up, nor not even mentioning them is an oversight in my opinion considering they can be Best in Slot Pally items. Also, the Magic Scepters are the better way to go compared to Rare ones.
Or you can just use a simple low budget spirit with +2 all skill and 35 fcr… and much more! Scepter are not an option there for me!
@@teal_2v338 Most of the time, yes a Spirit is a cheaper and better option. No arguments there. However if you're able to stumble upon (either through MFing or Vendors) a 2/3/3/X, the damage and Skills increase is better on the Scepter. 2/10/3/3/3 being a BIS Grail item that's also worth a fortune.
There is merit to picking them up and at least Identifying them. Or it's Charsi food for up to 35K. There's potential for FoH Scepters too, yet those basically have to be perfect for people to want them considering it's a PvP Weapon and PvP isn't nearly as played compared to PvM.

@@darkportents9835 It's all about luck, best key run for me was 2 Terror keys in 1 kill. Then there are these days with 0 keys and 0 runes worth collecting.

You can get up to LO rune from countess not up to IST rune :) actually i got once LO from her myself while ago.
Yea but the Lo rune is on her normal monster drop. The special rune drops are only up to Ist, which are much more frequent. In other words, if you want higher than Ist, the Countess can drop them, but it's a waste of time to focus on her specifically for those, since there's other areas with better drops and better density.

I've had much better rune drops from hell cows honestly. Yes, they do drop absolute rubbish mostly but in about a month of farming them about 10 times a day tops I've dropped 1 Vex, 3 Mal, a few Um, a Mara, and 2 Skin of the Vipermagi in Tristram + the flawless gems that I cube to resell for medium runes and a few very respectable gc skillers. Last one was +1 lightning skills (sorc) with 21 life.
