The “myth” as I understand isn’t necessarily that you CANT get your hair wet. I was always instructed NOT to get my hair wet so I didn’t have to restyle it.
I was going to say the exact same thing! It's not about getting it wet, it was about having to restyle it.
Especially if it had been straightened with a straightening comb
Exactly
EXACTLY!!!!
@@da6337 That's the only time I heard that, because the hair would revert.
Where did naturally curly world go? I miss them so much 😢
I miss Evelen, Nicky and Grace so much ❤
The relaxed her hair at 2? She is lucky she still has hair.
Brax I’ve NEVER heard of a child that young getting a relaxer. Never. Is this outside the US?
I thought the same thing. YIKES!!
I know some families that waited until the girl had her first period.
TiMalice2009 I started at 3 as well. I stopped at 18 cause I hated perms.
Y'all are high key so pretty
🥰🥰
Y’all’s should come back, curly hair and going natural is on the rise!
yeah, where did they go?
I really love this channel! Through the past 5 years I’ve learned a lot about my naturally curly hair by watching their videos. I really hope that they start making hair content again.
I really miss these videos!!! I hope they return soon :(
The reason "don't get your hair wet" was so heavily mentioned was because of 1) perms/relaxers 2) heat straightening and 3) generally restyling it. As someone who had perms or flat ironed hair most of my childhood, esp. bc 4c hair was/is considered "bad hair", that was why I was never allowed to get my hair wet. Also talking about pool water as if it's good for your hair... yes water is hair's best friend but not chemically treated pool water. You can swim, but you have to wash your hair after.
Love seeing these ladies 😍 and they brought out some pretty good points about myths on hair texture discrimination and ridiculous myths. They all have beautiful hair textures.
Great video! Part of my struggle with my hair is that if a product doesn’t work for me, I’ve dropped a significant amount of cash AND have an open, mostly full bottle of product to store or trash. I wish there was a Curly Club where friends could swap products to find what they like and get rid of what doesn’t work!
Sally's has a good return policy
Try shopping at Target for Natural Hair products. Their return policy is amazing! If you don't like something they will take it as a return.
I needed this video! Thank you, Ladies! I've been natural since 2008 and I have a love hate relationship with my long, thick 4a-4c hair. I hate doing it. But I need to change my mind set and its nice to see women from all patterns agree that Natural hair is beautiful!
Before straighteners? Girl you ARE NOT that old. The hell??!!
Excellent tips , thanks Ladies!
Thank you lovely ladies. Excellent video ❤️
Am I the only natural who doesn’t mind crunch like i feel like it helps my hair not get to big and it keeps it less frizzy them when the cast breaks
ToMuchDamnHair NOPE I’m right along with you girl!
For some reason for me it's the opposite. It makes my hair frizzier ! At the same time, I feel like just looking at it makes it frizzy
I like my hair big. And crunch is an no for me
I have coarse 2C/3A hair. I have to use gel with only a little protein otherwise my hair gets crispy. Not gel crispy, but because my hair naturally has a lot of protein, it gets overloaded. So it feels like straw. I love the Eco gel with olive oil and it makes my hair soft.

Did you guys stop making videos?
Love this channel. I wish you guys still posted on this channel 😞❤️🥺
I know.. same! :(

I used to get so much slack where I used to work because I was the only person with curly hair and it didn't "fit" with the company look, and the place before that wouldn't believe that my hair was naturally curly. 🤦🤷
I had friends that continuously pestered me to straighten my hair.
Get what... I've got curly hair and I'm happy about it.
SHRINK👏AGE👏IS 👏REAL👏!
Hi there. please HELP! I am 3 months CG & its starting to show progress. The hair on the crown is 2c while the hair near the ears & nape of my neck is 2a. No matter how much I scrunch & apply products (cantu moisture & flax seed gel) the curls around my nape would get straight sometimes right after applying product. Please tell me what to do?
Hey if it isn't too late, maybe since you have that 2a texture you'll need to play a bit with products and amounts you should apply because if the product is too heavy or you use too much it can weigh down your hair and make it straight since its a finer wave than your 2c texture
Myth 4 reminds me of the short film Dolapo is Fine. It's basically that myth being confronted. It's pretty interesting.
Pls tell me y'all still making vids
Can you please help me understand this. Your blog says that glycerin should be avoided during summer for curly girls whereas manes by mell says that glycerin should be avoided during winter?
Now which one is right?
miracle just do what works s for your hair
Great myths debunked! But what about frizz? Is it really bad to have frizz?
Island Breeze31 no! That's just what curly hair does. Not everything is about definition. So if u don't mind a lil frizz that's fine!
Livi Smith Thanks that makes me feel a lot better. I can live with that! 😊
@@livismith5007 We concur!
Island Breeze31 I’m at the point in my journey (almost 10 years) Frizz is what it is. No such thing as frizz free, especially for myself. Frizz comes and embrace it.
I love a little frizz! it gives my hair more volume like an early 90s Mariah Carey vibe
Taking care of my 4C hair is hard to me AND getting your hair wet was more about having to do it again after you go swimming. Restyling my hair is frustrating and more so than any other type of hair. They kind of missed the mark on that
Miss this channel
Curly guy here. Your videos are very informative.
Is it just me or do they talk about curly hair like it’s a disease? lol
3:08 isnt that just 4b hair? 🤔
Or is it just me? 😅 👀
I was wondering if 4z isn't just a joke.
I miss this channel
They should of explain why these are myths

I was here for this?👍❤
So course = thick
* coarse = thick hair strands
dense = a lot of hair on scalp (what we usually think of as thick)
@@BrittanyMega what they said. coarse/fine = how wide individual hairs are. thick/thin hair = density/how many hairs you have on your head. for me my hair is moderately thick, but I have a combination of fine, coarse, and in-between hair.
Ladies...... I wet my hair when I wash it but I'm not wetting my hair just to be getting it wet!!! , I do know about hydration. No disrespect but it ain't happening!!!!
Don’t wet to soak, wet to dampen it. It makes the world of a difference when you’re trying to wake your hair back up with and without moisturizer. Helps soooo much with the application of leave ins and or moisturizer, I feel like you’d use less product that way too.
That is not a curly hair myth. That waa mostly said to girls who had presses in their hair, water would make it revert.
I seen some running fron water but I knew mine would just curl up and I didn't mind.
Also, "breakage" is NOT a curly girl thing. It's a kinky hair thing.
don’t be ignorant.. kinky hair IS curly hair... however curly hair is NOT kinky hair. kinky hair is the TIGHTEST curl
it is probably more common for people with tighter curls, but looser curl can experience it too
@@user-rx9zl7iz4d Tighter curls are considered *coily hair* not curly hair.
Type 1- Straight
Type 2- Wavy
*Type 3- Curly*
Type 4- Coily
If you need a magnifying glass to see a curl it's not curly. Now move, *ignorant one.*
This youtube channel was literally propoganda to water down the natural hair community from black women and as soon as it achieved that it dipped lmao.
