I went to Scotland for 3 months in 2023 and I absolutely loved the country. The Shetlands, Orkney, Skye, the Isle of Arran, the Loch Ness, loch Katrine... Everything was amazing.
I am visiting Scotland in 2024! This video is made for me!
Same here! Just watching it to make a plan
So glad you mentioned Perth and the opening of the museum! Perth has so much to offer. Beautiful river, art gallery, museums, incredible gardens, hiking up Kinnoull hill, etc. There are some very good restaurants and bakeries, too! Plus the racetrack and Scone Palace. The Stone of Destiny is coming back here. As Scotland’s first capital there is so much history here to be explored and enjoyed. Has the city seen better days before chain stores and lockdown? Without a doubt. But there is still spirit and pride here. Lots of local businesses trying to hang on. Hoping the museum will bring in people and they will realize just how lovely this area is. ❤
would you be so kind to name these cool restaurants and bakeries in Perth?
My favorite so far (I am new here) are Rabbit Hole Cakes, Tabla, Everest Inn, St. John’s, and Hinterland.
Let me add The Bulldog Frog, the restaurant at Salutation Hotel (atmosphere is lacking but the food is really good), music at The Twa Tams is not to be missed. I was surprised by how much I liked Paco’s. I look forward to trying so many more.
Im going to Scotland with my boyfriend this summer and Im just so glad that I found your channel! So many good tips, im going ton follow closely your next videos!
Thank you✨
That was really informative. I like the fact that you speak so warmly of Glasgow. Would very much appreciate more vlogs about all things Glasgow, which is much more than Edinburgh's poor relation (apropos of nothing, lovely jumper).
I’d love to make more Glasgow content! I’ve never been to the Barras market which is very high on my wish list!
My wife and I visited Edinburgh early last year, then visited Glasgow in the summer .. we actually enjoyed our time more in Glasgow .. we are going there again in June
Thank you for this! We’ll be there in September!
Thanks for this informative catchup Kakibot, I lived in Edinburgh for many years and will return on Friday for a few days. Good to be up to speed with whats new and how to. Living in Arctic Lapland now, it quite different. Xx
Big thumbs up for making video about Highland games! 👍🏻
We loved Scotland so much during our 2023 trip we will be returning in August!
That's what I love to hear!! Anything in particular you're planning to do this time around? .)
@@Kakibot We are going to explore Lewis and Harris this time around and work our way back to Edinburgh (through Skye and Glencoe). Maybe you and Simon can take a weekend trip and give us a Lewis and Harris video before August? :)
My wife and I are going for the time in August. What is the weather like? We live in Massachusetts USA. Thanks. We are so excited.
August is when you might get first slightly cooler winds coming in and the temperatures and humidity often start to drop in the second half. End of August always feels noticeably autumnal to me! @@joelzimmerman3710
Loved Edinburgh and stayed for a month.2022 Sorry to hear about the small shops. Once gone very hard to get back. Yes, Glasgow was so easy to get to. Don't rent from Silver Lining Apts. I paid a 500 pound deposit and left the place in great shape. They would not even reply to me.
Thank you for your videos! Heading to Scotland in May from Arizona, USA!!!
first! (also just traveled to scotland in november and used so many of your valuable tips, thanks Kat!)
That's lovely to hear! Glad to be useful .)
Thanks! Your videos have been so helpful in planning my upcoming trip to Edinburgh.
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Don't forget about the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow in August ;) Probably not something you'd go to unless you're already heavily invested in pipe bands, but there's performances around George Square the week before as part of the Piping Live! event.
yin ae the best events of the year
Omg! Thank you for sharing!!!
Yes, you mangled it - but in the most delightful way!
Please carry on ... 🤩
My main base was in Contin Campsite, the Riverside Chalets and Caravan Park near Inverness. I’ve been there only 7 nights . I recommend a very nice and quiet place with friendly owners. Village store 1 minute from camp and fish and chips shop 5 min from camp. close to Jamestown and Strathpeffer. I've been exploring the surrounding area and also Inverness and many more. But when I got back home I was driven by Fort Augustus, Fort William. After that from Glencoe to Bridge of Orchy road A82 along Loch Lomond and the catching Glasgow etc. One week epic journey 1300 miles. In Edinburgh I went to 2021 and also had an epic journey. Regards
Going In March and we can’t wait!!!!!
If you're going to Perth, I highly recommend the Branklyn Garden and a little hike up the nearby Kinnoull Hill. Did that last year and really loved this day out.
Thanks! Going in September!
Very useful, thank you :)
The Braemar Highland Gathering on September 7 is one of the best. All going to plan I will be flying from Australia to compete in the Heavy Games
I will come back in the beginning of July this year. This time I will be solo traveling through Scotland for 2 weeks and I am extremely excited about it. I will be on the look for a new pin from you as a souvenir again. Love my hairy coo one from last summer. 😁
Also I cannot wait for some breakfast at the Urban Angel and the pantry again and a cinnamon roll from Kvasa. 🥰 And I always go to Glasgow on my trips as I really like the different vibe and the Tantrum Doughnuts are just too tempting. 😂
very informative, thank you
Coming in May. where is your favorite fish and chips. You gave so much info I'll have to watch again.
Yes, more on Highland Games please!🙏
I'll be there in a week!!
Yeeeaaah having a coffee and a donut with me! ❤️
It was lovely meeting you at the makers market and buying an awesome pin from you! Thank you 😊😊 awesome that you also make videos! Greetings from the two Dutch people (we were the ones talking about discgolf) 😜
Hellooo! Was so nice talking to you yesterday - a video on Discgold deffo coming in the future, you got me fully invested!!
@@Kakibot haha that’s good to hear! We brought discs if you want to try it out somewhere in the next 2 weeks, haha! Also your videos are very helpful to decide what we should definitely do in Edinburgh!
So excited for my trip! Any daytrip suggestions? Also, that sweater is SO CUTE! Where did you get it?
Argh, so many nice local spots closed this year. I guess it's always been a tough business with the usual 2year rotation cycle, but I feel like some long-running places are also out of business now. On the other hand, I'm weirdly excited about the Uniqlo opening. I agree it's solid basics for the ever-changing weather in Edinburgh.
Hello, Thank you for all this wonderful information. Please do a video of the Highland Games it would be greatly appreciated.
I agree! I loved Glasgow, :)
Would enjoy seeing any content you publish in the lifestock fairs and the Highland games 😊 Sorry to learn business have shut. Cost of living is an issue here in Canada too.
I'm going to have to come back sometime. I came in October when all the flooding was happening so our goals of heading out Edinburgh to the mountains slipped away. I come from flat Netherlands, so I was craving mountains 😥
Have you been down to Galashiels? You have the Great Tapestry of Scotland which is an amazing piece of work and great to learn Scottish history. Abbotsford House is down there too. I just thought with the borders being so close to Edinburgh it'd be a good shout to have a squizz at them. Loads of history, scenery and small indy businesses.
Oh, can you get back to shooting the different areas of Edinburgh please? i liked the Bruntsfield one.
We love south of Scotland! Even made a video about one of our trips - and would love to go back. Might be better to go once I have a bit more of an.. erm.. influence. I don't think last time people really paid any attention 😅
More neighbourhood guides are in the works! They cost a lot of money to produce and a lot of time as well, so I'll wait until I have at least a bit more day light to work with.
The 82nd World Science Fiction Convention, aka Worldcon, is being hosted in Glasgow Aug 8-12. Not a cheap date but a great way to get your nerd on with folks from all over.
That's what's bringing me from Seattle, very excited for the chance to see Glasgow and Edinburgh AND Worldcon :)
We visited in 2023 (2024 wasn't in the budget this year).
From the 'kan :) Enjoy the trip! We had a wonderful time.
Can't wait for your visit to my hometown, Perth. You must visit The Auld Brig when you're here - the best coffee and brownies! And then pop into Quince and Cook a couple of doors down for a browse. Both are hidden gems!
Awesome, thank you SO much for the tips!
I wish i could visit Scotland 😊 one day i hope ❤ NZ 🇳🇿
Also can you suggest what we can take in between May 12th and June 16th please
Dundee is the North...?
Well, I will wave as I pass through Perth, Pitlochry, Aviemore, Inverness and Dingwall on my way next week to the North West Highlands....
I'm sure that Tain, Wick, Furness, Lochinver, Ullapool and Garve will wave back.
OR even lower down the North West coast at Poolewe, Gairloch, Lockton...
Despite which - your videos are REALLY good. And if I made a video about places in Eastern Europe you'd laugh your head off....! They would not be good.
Happy New Year ....!!!
Thanks to you, I know about the 750th birthday of Robert the Bruce (sorry for the ancestry name dropping, but he IS my 21st great grandfather!). And as pure luck would have it, my British Isles Viking Cruise will be anchored in Edinburgh on July 11th, his actual birthDAY! What is the best way to spend that day? Stirling Castle? The Dome Restaurant? Are there any fun special events planned for that day? Any information is GREATLY appreciated! Love your channel!
Would you consider doing a video about the ongoing renovations at Inverness Castle and what to expect when they're done?
We’re coming in August…. I prefer the small shops as well…hoping to find some … are there any vintage or thrift shops you can recommend?
Going to the Royal Highland Show in June.
My friend and I are coming to Cumbernauld in May/ June and she has mobility issues, just wondering if there is anywhere we can rent of get use of a wheel chair for our stay, also can you give us a run down on what the money is there.
Hi from Falkirk where the "Kelpies" are, places like this are a great place to stay and are a much cheaper alternative to renting in the cities, as an example my daughter is coming to visit next month, I( rented her an entire town centre flat for a week cheaper than a small hotel room in Edinburgh, Edinburgh is much more of a tourist city than Glasgow, People in Edinburgh will sell tourists loads of cheap tat dressed up as culturally Scottish, people in Glasgow are more likely to tell you that its cheap tat.
Hi. I have a dream of spending a night dancing in Edinburgh in the summer. Not modern, disco dancing. Something more local , folk, where a lot of people are dancing together, drinking beer and having a blast. Is there anything at all you could recommend? Cheers.
The Royal Highland Show is about and mainly for farmers!
I gotta know where you get all your amazing sweaters 😊
Oooooh it's really a bit of everything! Joanie, Palava, Princess Highway all have nice, slightly vintage look leaning jumpers, and I also like to look for past pieces from Monki while thrifting .)
No offense to Edinburgh Castle Kat, but Stirling is much better and should be on the list to anyone visiting Scotland. That being said, Howies on Victoria Street does the best Haggis.
Robert the Bruce is buried in Dunfermline so if attending any events there you can travel by bus over the Forth Road Bridge, celebrating it’s 60th this year!
Where can I buy local made clothing, not commercial? Thanks
Come to Paisley, its got an awesome medieval abbey and an international airport to boot. 😂
A winter version would be appreciated
Do you have any insight on when the Air BB's will get their licenses in order to accept reservations? Also can you suggest where to look other than Air BB for a month rental in Edinburgh? where I can do all my own cooking
Private room ensuite at Hostels, there are monthly rates. Central Youth is amazing
Hello I am French & I would love to move to Scotland. But I don’t know how to start . What would you advise me?
We´re travelling 2 weeks in August to Scotland in Aberdeenshire and I´m missing the Highland Games in Balater in your calander. We´ve planned a short visit to Edinburgh at the august 2nd when we travel from Hull to Banchory. I´m not sure that this is good idea...
And a summer vacation plan
Glasgow yardworks international graffiti festival is on the 4th and 5th of May at SWG3 in Glasgow for anyone visiting the city and looking for some amazing graffiti and street art
Will be there within 2 weeks, also in glasgow, soooo looking forward to getting to know this stunning country! Hoping for the weather to contribute haha... greetings from brazil!
Any events from January 15th to 19th, 2024 in Edinburgh?
Could you recommend where used music cds stores are located? Thanks!
I think charity shops might be your best bet!
Anything fun happening in November? Middle part perhaps?
I have plans to move to Scotland by September after completion of my masters in UEA, Norwich, England. But some one told me I will struggle to find a job there unlike England. Now I'm confused🤔
Oink is very good
Is September a good month to go with less crowd? Also which weeks in September would you recommend the most?
I’m looking for fall vibes but not too much rain .. a little sun on some days
Leaves are starting to turn towards the end of September, but overall the weather starts feeling autumnal at the end of August most years. So visually end of the month might be better, but going earlier could mean more pleasant breezy weather as opposed to the more wet and windy autumn
The Crannog Centre still looks closed- would love to see it, but they need to update both Google Maps and their own website!
Visit the East Neuk of Fife🏴
Great tip: just went this Christmas season and it was fantastic + We’ve made videos about the area previously! People should deffo put this on their lists!
I've lived in Perth, reminds me of Inverness. If Dundee reminds you of Glasgow. Or to put it another way. It's Dundee without the crime.
Can you make a video on things to do in July
Let me know when your visit to Perth is set to happen. Would be happy to advise on places to visit and things to do. (Being a Perth resident!)
Will do! I’m gonna save it for when the museum is open, but might do a little research trip beforehand too - so if you have any hidden gems you’d like to share, please let me know! .)
I go to Edinburgh, Scotland (first time ever traveling anywhere!) from the US in October. One thing I keep hearing is the lack of public restrooms. What's your advice there? Don't eat or drink while out exploring? lol
Yeah it takes a bit of experience to know where to go! Good options are St James quarter, any museums or galleries (free to enter in most cases), Edinburgh street food, M&S princes street food department. Also there are couple public toilets around the meadows!
❤❤❤❤😊
I'm going in Edinburgh on february
I'd love to see Glasgow, but is it worth it to go for just one day ?
The bus tour is really good and you can hop off at what takes your interest then hop back on🇨🇦🇨🇦
As the journey time is so short, around 1 hour, it is certainly worth a day trip. My favourite in Glasgow is the riverside transport museum.
Hello thom from sweden
Biggest tip for the trams is use the app...
hey is it safe for girls to travel alone to endinburgh also please suggest some cheap and safe accommodation for short stay?
Oh wow! Ive lived in Glasgow most of my life. I've rarely felt unsafe. You wouldn't feel unsafe travelling by bus or train to Edinburgh. Even tho Glasgow is described as a violent city, it's mostly not random violence in my experience. Its young guys fighting other young guys from their estate or scheme. Im 64 and I've been attacked once in glasgow, and after shoving me into a bush, the guy ran off apolgising
@@giuliamorrell4466 oh that's good to hear! i have never traveled before so i was kinda nervous 😅
I heard Blue Bear cafe is closed for good
Ok even thoooe im scary of heightz
I can take you for a coffee and a cake june 8th onward, maybe Sunday and I can take you dog sledding if you come to Lapland?
Ironically, even though this lady is Czech, she undoubtedly does look a wee little bit like a Scottish lassie!!!
It’s shut.
there is more to Scotland than EDINBURGH 😖
Just as this video points out multiple times ✨
We require 85% B-Roll.
Heya, we do our best to balance our content between informative and personable discussion, and illustrative b-roll, but the balance of that is entirely contingent on how we feel when we do the edit. Got to have fun when we're making the videos afterall. Since filmed b-roll takes time, I doubt you'll be getting 85% any time soon
So a NON Scottish person makes a vid about Alba? Aren't the Scots proud of their country anymore?
I don’t need to hear about places closed we can’t experience. Waste of time
No need to be rude - people who are making plans based on previous experience or outdated information will be let down when finding out places have closed after they’ve shelled out substantial amounts of money for their trip.
Glasgow never has been and never will be cooler than Edinburgh. As for its higher level of community spirit - this is nonsense. You need to find a better ‘community’ in Edinburgh that’s all. And the community spirit so called in Glasgow is arguably the most over rated Scottish experience. What it usually means is some really annoying idiot talking to you even when you don’t want them too.
Haha! Oversensitive much! Calm down! 😂
@@giuliamorrell4466 Have a wee read of my last sentence again sweetheart! And reflect, if you possibly can, on how that applies to you! Nighty night!
