“Strong enough to have it all. TOO WEAK TO TAKE IT!!!” 🎃 Willem Dafoe doesn’t need to be cast as The Joker. He was an amazing Green Goblin. Both fights between Tobey’s and Tom’s Spider-Man were the most brutal of all the Spidey franchise. As much as he was great in the Raimi trilogy, he took it to another level in No Way Home. The hallway fight was more suspenseful and scary than any horror movie I’ve seen in years. Green Goblin is Spider-Man’s worst enemy because not only can he fight toe to toe with him, but he’ll make it personal by attacking his loved ones.

The Green Goblin is not only Spiderman's greatest enemy, but also his teacher. Because being a superhero is not all sunshine and rainbows, it is a choice of responsibility and that comes with a price. The Green Goblin shows Spiderman that everyone who is close to you will always be the ones that will pay the due with their lives. In No Way Home, after the events following May's death, Peter learn with deep regret that if you loved the people so much then you must protect them by loving them from a distance. This is what I meant when I said that the Goblin is a teacher of life's hardest choices.

Wow well said, very true. Same goes for MJ and Ned, Peter was all set on approaching her but ultimately decided to back off, seeing that she was happy and safe.

I think Norman is just another victim of his own well being. In the alley scene in No Way Home, Norman actually begs the Goblin to leave him alone and smashes the mask. This shows how much pain he's in when it comes to their relationship and Norman just can't take it anymore. You could say that both Norman and the Goblin are in an abusive relationship with the Goblin being the abuser. "Coward, we have a new world to conquer. You make me sick, hiding in the shadows. Hiding from who you truly are. You can't escape yourself"!

Norman isn’t another victim of his own well being. The alley scene in No Way Home is bullshit, because Norman choose to be evil in the first live action Spider-Man movie, he didn’t care about all of the suffering he caused others.

    "No good deed goes unpunished"
know what it means, it means some people will take advantage of someone's generosity and good will, but I think the green goblin meant more about people in general, that people are awful and take advantage of each others selflessness and generosity, and yet they wont feel remorse for it

In Maguire's Spiderman, both Osborne and Octavian are classic examples of the Shakespearean concept of the decent man with the fatal flaw.
    Both had too much confidence.
In Octavian's case, he wanted good.
In Osborne's case, his desire to increase his business.
    Both legitimate.
But their confidence that they could control what they were doing was their undoing.

I always loved Green Goblin from the comics and I thought William Dafoe did a great job playing him in the Raimi films (Earth-96283) and the Variant of him (Earth-TRN925) that was transported to the MCU (Earth-199999). I hope we get an MCU Green Goblin in the future. Can you do a video on Green Goblin from the canon Marvel Universe (Earth-616).

I always liked Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn. But his Green Goblin was a little too ridiculous for me in _Spider-Man_ (2002); mainly due to that stupid mask.
But when he got his 2nd chance at the role in _Spider-Man: No Way Home,_ they did the best thing they could've by smashing that stupid mask and he just relied on his own facial expressions, which I personally thought made him scarier.

This actually a pretty well-written analysis of the character, with a lot of good points that illuminate aspects I hadn’t considered before.
However, the narration is a bit problematic for me personally. I suspect it’s AI, which, if so, is actually better than most. Unfortunately it’s still pretty lifeless and stiff, which becomes grating after a few minutes.
If this is the case - a writer using an AI voice to bring their thoughts to life - I would suggest reading the scripts yourself, or bringing a friend on board to record the script for you. There is a lot of potential here,. I’d just like to see it thrive.

I’m glad to hear you found something insightful. I do empathise with your feedback on how the voiceover may be a turn-off.
You’re somewhat right, the scripts are written by me but they are actually narrated by a human. To no fault of his though, I think it’s harder to inflect emotion when you’re completely unfamiliar with the subject matter.
