Comment below your guess for how many eggs the 13 hens will lay for the week!
It was fun and educational, I'm on my way to pick up four as I'm watching your video, let me know which ones are best to get, thanks for your video
.
Those numbers are great! Nothing to be disappointed about!
Yes😄
I love going out to gather the eggs!! I always tell them, "Well Done" , "Thank you"
I get about 50% of eggs per chicken pe day. This summer has been very hot, so I blame that....
You always have nice videos!!
Love that!
Mine lay alot in the spring. During intense heatwaves in summer they really slow down as well as in winter. In the beginning I was stressing alot about how much they layed or didn't lay- now if I want more eggs I just gonna get more chickens and let the chickens be. I value their manure as much as the eggs. Thanks!
I got 15 assorted hens that just started laying and ive been getting 12 to 14 eggs a day for 3 days in a row now and they are about ten months old , i feed them fresh sweet corn. Squash, zucchini, cucumber, watermeon. Also black soldier fly larvae and dumor high protein 24% meat bird mixed with laying their hen formula 50/50. They are all very healthy and good sized while still being able to fly they roam the woods and fields around my house during the day so they forage bugs and grass too.
About 5 1/4 dozen eggs a week. Here in Calif. brown free range eggs are going around $5-10 a dozen. I love our free range, dark yolked eggs. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it very much!
Just got myself 10 baby chickens. I can't wait for my eggs!!!!!
you will love it!
It's winter here and my 12 birds just started laying. We are lucky to get 4 a day so your numbers are phenomenal from my point of view 😂🤣😅
That is awesome! Thanks!
Very cool. Never knew how this worked. Wish I had some hens lol
Loving your videos. I have 84 chickens. 64 hens. 8 Roos. 12 straight run chicks. I am a new chicken mamas and chicken math really got me. Lol!!!! Luckily, I have the space to accommodate. 5 of my hens are laying so far. My first 2 gave me 14 last week. They are ISA browns. The first to lay and laid every day. My 3 barred rocks started laying this week. I can’t wait for more to start later in the seasons. Some of mine won’t lay until next year. I love my heritage breeds. I am going to be separating them next year to keep the heritage breeds pure. 💛💛💛💛
Thank you so much! Chicken math can be very DANGEROUS! you are gonna be so happy to see all the eggs coming in!
@@AcresOfAdventure thank you. You channel gave me the push that I needed to order my first 6 chicks. Thank you!!!!💛💛💛💛
62 hens, 8 Roos and 12 straight run. What are the other 2 for that 84 total? Lol!
@@Alfasaurus sorry. 64 hens. Well, I am now at 110 total. But who’s counting. Lol!!!!
I have 8 chickens that are 13 weeks. cannot wait to see what I get. I got the brown laying chickens from Murray McMurray I kept half, and coworker got the other half.
Nice haul for the week! I hope our 12 hens layjust as well as yours lol
I'm so happy to watch this channel, I live in Nicaragua and proud to have chickens and a pig 🐖 in my small property, it's tough but we're doing it, just had 2 of our girls hatch some 🐥🐥🐣🐣🐣🐣 lately super cute when they're that small.
We have 7 ISA Brown hens and 1 Australorp. We get a 90-100% egg lay rate daily (i.e. sometimes 1 hen does not lay). ISA Browns are high production and lay daily (through winter) for about 2 years, and then production drops off precipitously. Our ISA Browns are as chatty as your Rhode Island Red hen when we are near them, and I'm now realizing that's because the ISA Brown is a mix of white and red Rhode Island hens/roosters (from what I've read). But, beware, the egg song of the ISA Brown can be loud. Two of ours go on for up to 1 min. 25 seconds of loud noise after laying the egg, which you can hear in an approximate 200 ft. radius. You mentioned 'heritage' breed a lot, but there are a ton of high production breeds that lay daily, which is even more than heritage breeds. Heritage breeds live a lot longer though.
RI red and RI white make a gold star too. I have one that started laying last month. She lays for 3-4 days takes a day and than lays 73 grammers. Have you weighed any of those ISAs eggs?
Some chickens may go and lay eggs in the grass. Some our chickens used to just lay eggs at random places for us to jot find out and save them to lay on the for little chips, be sure to check for things like this. 😊😊
This makes me feel so much better about my chickens tbh! And beautiful eggs!
That is a fantastic number!🎉 Plus it depends on what breeds you have like you said.
It was a good number once I thought about it!
A good result for this number of chickens
63 eggs?
That's how many dozen you DIDN'T buy at the store..... 5 and a smidgen dozen at 5 plus a pop??
63 is incredible.
I want chickens for sure!!
Enjoyed your daily egg count video. Youre 100% correct. Thats about how many we get daiky with 18 hens.
that poor chickens leg😂😂😂😂
Heat wave here in TX is making a dent in my count. My poor chickens are feeling it.
Great way! They may lay some elsewhere, so ck around in and under things.
Thanks for doing this!!
No problem. We always wanted to do this to see how many we truly get!
Thats a good number! I average about the same. It looks like its almost time to move the pigs again. They seem to have tore that area up good! Hope all is well bud!
Keep up good work
😊
Where did you end up finding the eggs? They are clearly laying elsewhere. I would look under the coop where they all seem to be hiding.
I have 12 hens and have been down to 3-6 eggs. The exception is most of mine are 3 to 9 years old. 😅 keep up the good work!
They tend to stop laying by three years.
I gave my brother new chicks this year 2 white leghorns and a few brown egg layers 9 total and the whites still out perform the brown egg layers
You got this
Ive got 2 Wyandotte that im not sure even lay. Like you said some are pretty & some are good layers.😊
It’s good to have a mixture of both for our own happiness 😄
I wish I could get that % of eggs per week out of my hens. 22 hens. 1 is sitting on eggs. I avg 6-9 a day. Mine are dual purpose. Will have to get couple RI reds or the sort. I keep telling my girls to start laying or its supper time for me. Maybe a KFC pic in their roost will help. I just got 13 instead of 6-8. Major improvement
That is awesome!
All that counting and not one shout out to the Count from Sesame Street???? I was totally waiting for a good tranivanisa cackle
Haha😂 that would have been great!
Ever thought about getting a Turkeys? Love your channel by the way.
Yes! We were about to but they wouldn’t be ready by the end of the year now
I had once 3 chickens for 6 days a week I had 4 eggs a day and on Sunday only 2 on Sunday and this for the whole laying season. I think I had a religious chicken
That's a lot of eggs. How old are your chickens? We have 15 and we only averaged 4.35 eggs per day in August. And September is not looking any better. Good Luck. Forney, TX
I’ve got 13 chickens 2 Barred Rocks 4 Jersey Giants 2 LegHorns 3 Americanas and 2 Easter eggers. The Barred Rock have been laying for a year and the other 11 should any day. I’m worried I won’t get much out of the Americanas and Eastereggers.
Probably not as much but they will be the cooler eggs!
Our chickens has slowed on lay since it's been 100+ degrees here....we usually get 8 to 10 we have 12 hens but here lately only 3 a day....
I wish mine layed that many
What kind of feed do you feed?
How much feed do you give them a day, and what brand?MY loud one is Gabby, lol she's so talkative...I have Buff Orpingtons
Are you sure all of the hens gave eggs? Maybe there are 11 productive hens and 2 slackers.
63 wow! The most I got one time in a day was 5 so 8 is not bad but hoping for big numbers is better.
I know I shouldn’t be that hard on them🙈 how many chickens do you have?
@@AcresOfAdventure 12 but the thing with mine is I got 9 sex-links already laying and they don't lay in the box, but I think they didn't get enough calcium from were I got them and there not laying and the other 3 are little hens and by that I don't mean chick, they lay but I think they are hiding there eggs right now and I can't seem to find the eggs anywhere. I don't know how much longer the sex-links are going to live for so, I am getting 17 more chicks next week and I'm so excited!
I like that coop. Is that store bought or DIY?
Diy
Are those green eggs ? What kind of chicken breed lays those pretty cool ?
Apparently plain yogurt is a secret to encourage production
Love from kashmir
We have 11 laying hens and get about 8-9/day. Not all are laying yet.
I get a egg a day from each bird
That is great, what breed?
In the average of nine eggs, a day of thirteen hens is not a bad average. I have fifteen nteen hens two who are broody. I average 9 to 11 a day😊
Great job on the homestead
Will they produce eggs everyday in year? Or they stop it in winter?
@alirezahsd5963 they slow down in the winter, but I still get a few eggs a day.
I have new hens that are 22 weeks old and should start laying soon. They will replace the older hens eventually.
Where did you get your nesting boxes?
It was custom made from the guy who made our coop
😂
♥️😘
We have 11 hens and get 6 eggs a day on average. Y’all must be doing something right! 😂
Can you eat the blue eggs?
What breeds do you have?
Where is your nesting box from?
We had it custom made from the guy who made our coop
Everyday my chicken lays an egg. I only have one chicken
Time to make sweet and sour chicken for the ones that didn't make the cut.
Original 6 Reds all lay every day. Unless somebody got spooked. 3&1/2 dozen per week. I have 13 more girls of various breeds that are about to start grown up lady food
Thanks for the clarification, so basically the unfertilized egg the hen lays daily without any hormones ? , so it is the natural process and nature has created this process to provide the unfertilized egg for the purpose of eating as there is no other use of unfertilized also it doesn't become to baby chick , so created it for the purpose of eating otherwise if its not use in eating it become spoiled over the time ? So this egg is made by nature to be eaten, there is no harm in it that if people eat this egg and it is also a vegetarian egg then there is no life in it ? so people who eat unfertilized egg don't do any cruelty with animals life ?
How old are your chickens?
Ranging from 1 year - 2 years old
@AcresOfAdventure wow, then you have great results! Next year it will be much worst...
They some time take a day off
#5:29 stuck
50?
63.. my bad.. still good though
My opinion, you're feeding them too much feed. You have enough grass they can eat.
out of my 28 hens i get about 40 eggs every 2 days, and they just started 2 weeks ago....
