    Hello, I have an SQ6 and a DX168. I would like to pass the signal with two cisco switches, one in FOH and the other on stage. The protocol that the console detects is not the correct one. Usually between the console and the box I have a DX protocol. I can't figure out what configuration to have on the cisco switches for it to work ? Thanks in advance !

      Hello Player,
      As mentioned on the webinar, our connections are point to point based. We do not support connections through switches, as we do not test the products this way.
      You may give this a try, however the switch must be of the same speed of the protocol being used. It seems like the switch used on your setup might not be Fast Ethernet (100Base-TX) as the DX protocol demands.

    I have a question regarding the DX168. I am using the SQ5 which have 16 inputs has you already know it, combining it with the DX168, I will have a total of 32 inputs. So, my question is this: in the mixer I/O, Am I going to start patching from input 16-32 (2nd layer), or I have to start at input 1 (first layer)? Can I use both the mixer inputs and the DX inputs at the same time? Which layer I am going to use for the SLink (layer 2)?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello!
      You can indeed use your sockets from local and from your expanders at the same time. Simply make sure to patch each accordingly to an Input processing channel of the console.
      On the top bar of the I/O screen, make sure to select Local or SLink depending on which sources are you patching into your channels.

    Hello. I have a question. If I want to connect AR2412 and AR84 to the SQ5 console, do I need an additional s-link card?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hello Cla,
      If your SQ's Slink port is not currently being used for other connections, then you may connect the AR2412 here and the AR84 linked to the AR2412.
      Any additional Expanders that you wish to integrate on the SQ will require for the SQ to have fitted the optional SLink card on the I/O port.
      Cheers,
      Rafael

    How can i record 64 channel audio from sq5 in to my daw as i heared few people saying it can record only 32 channels. Need some assistance please...

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Před rokem +1

      Hello!
      The USB interface of SQ range allows you to stream 32 x 32 channels, which can be recorded on a DAW.
      If you need a higher count of channels for recording, I would recommend doing this over one of our optional cards and protocols:
      - MADI
      - WAVES
      - Dante
      All of which allow 64x64 channels of digital audio over a network.
      Thank you,
      Rafael

    So even though the AB168 has mic preamps, it will not give my QU more channels, but feed into the existing channels on the QU, (like an analog snake?) If so, Does the signal pass through 2 preamps or does it bypass the QU onboard mic preamp? Also, can I run line level sources over the snake, and bypass the mic pre? Thank you.

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Před rokem

      Hello PJ,
      The racks are used to expand the amount of Input and Output sockets in the system. This allows you to connect more things that you would by only using the rear local sockets of the mixer.
      However, this doesn't expand the amount of PROCESSING channels that the mixer is capable of managing.
      The analogue snake analogy is pretty accurate indeed.
      Signal doesn't go through 2 preamps, as you must choose/assign the source for each channel: Whether the signal comes from the local socket, the expander or USB.
      Cheers,
      Rafael

    Can I use two Ar 2412 AudioRack on Sq 7 ?

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Před rokem

      Hello Emanuel,
      This would not be possible, I'm afraid.
      The architecture of the AR2412 Expander is built to be always the first one in the chain, it can only receive signal from the mixer directly, not from any other expander.
      You can, however, use both AR2412 with SQ if you fit an optional SLink car din the I/O panel to have a secondary SLink port.
      Thanks,
      Rafael

    I trust the engineers at Allen and Heath are very bright people, but how could they fully know about Dante/AES67/AVB-TSN standards and say "those arn't good enough for us, let's re-invent the wheel 4 times with 4 more standards (ace, gigace, gx, dx). if A&H went with dante/aes67/AVB, the products would have much wider interoperability and longer product longevity.

    • @AllenandHeathUK
      @AllenandHeathUK  Před 3 lety +8

      Hi Greg,
      Yep, our engineers and developers are incredibly bright!
      Whilst there are benefits, there are also a few drawbacks to using 3rd party protocols.
      Within an A&H system it makes far more sense to use A&H protocols as they allow plug and play operation, automatic expander firmware matching/updating and provide the lowest latency whilst also keeping cost down due to there being no licensing fees or extra hardware required.
      If you want to integrate other equipment using 3rd party protocols though (which can obviously be extremely useful!) then we offer plenty of option cards with which to achieve this, including Dante/AES67 support.
      Other protocols and option cards are always being considered so we'd welcome your suggestions and opinions about these on our digital community (e.g. community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/avb-card ).
      Thanks! Keith.

      @@AllenandHeathUK Dante is indeed a third party product, but TSN and Milan are from the makers of Ethernet, are actually open standards, and would arguably bring substantial benefit to AH and its customers. And you already have to count 5 incompatible Audio Ethernet protocols plus the auto-selecting SLink above some of them - you forgot ME! ;-)
