Paid for a dead 12V just after warranty expired (of course). Replaced normal wear and tear items (on my 3rd sets of carbon cabin filters & tires). She still pulls 1g accelerating!

I had to pay for oil change every month when I had my ICE car. Afterwards I only purchased EVs and put 50k miles and literally paid zero for maintainer, not even tires. Only purchased a set of winter tires which I would have done it anyway with any car. It is great feeling for sure, but sometimes I miss my Corolla, because it was paid for. My Tesla has monthly payments, but I have to remind myself the savings I had with the Tesla. It is easy to consider them given. But they are indeed not.
If you do a lot of miles like me, I would highly recommend one. If you don’t, it is a nice splurge which you can resell with minimum losses. Tax credits help massively when bought new.

One downside to the hybrids that I came to recognize is usually overlooked: they have double the engine / motor maintenance / potential problems vs a pure EV or pure ICE as they have both propulsion systems. Still a good choice I think when the pure EV doesn't fit the requirements for some reason (other than FUD)

It used 3500 gallons of gas and I changed the oil 12 times at a cost of $27 each time (I do it myself). It used two sets of tires at $550 each set and three sets of brake pads/one set of rotors at $250 total cost (I do the brakes myself) plus two alignments. That's it. $16,774 - let's call it $17,000 in total. Probably 1/4 the cost of your car so far. I also has a little wind leak issue when it was brand new which their mobile service fixed. We recently bought a model Y for my wife and I can see Tesla has made significant quality improvements. Her car has no panel gap issues, all the doors close more smoothly. etc. It just feels a bit tighter and more refined than mine. But we've had nothing significant to worry about with either car...except that I'm on my 3rd windshield thanks to a daily commute with construction everywhere. A rock recently cracked the top glass on my M3... Great video! I have a 2018 LR as well and charging to 100%, I get 306 miles now vs 310 brand new, so I am extremely pleased. its comical listening to all the Tesla hate out there. If you don't like the vehicle, don't buy one. it's that simple. For most Tesla or EV owners, our cars do what WE need them to do for US, so WE are happy. please continue to do what you do to make yourself happy in life.

...c'mon, you know as well as I do just how tough it is watching a train wreck! But, could YOU turn away? Normal people can all sit by and watch the self-serving lemmings buy Teslas and praise Teslas as the Teslas continue to absolutely trash the environment under the guise of being green - but any sensible person (any non-Tesla owners) just can't help commenting such a disgusting and pathetic trend.

I have a Tesla and I know many owners at the charging stations that don’t like em. They have horrible range, charging is a hassle if your out and about. It’s such a basic boring car. Only reason I got it was because my sister had major health issues and couldn’t afford her lease so I took it over for her for an extra car. It’s good for short commutes tho.

People complain about charging time during road trips and most have never driven a Tesla, let alone road tripped in one. My wife and I drove from Massachusetts to Minnesota after purchasing our MSLR+ and it was a lovely experience. Quiet, cheap (from a fuel perspective), fun, and enjoyable. Yes, our average stop was 15-30min but by the time you go to the bathroom, get some snacks and take a leg stretch, you aren’t waiting long at all. And I’ll say that despite it taking a bit longer, I didn’t feel like we took a cross country road trip because it forces you to stop a bit longer. I’ll never own an ICE car as a daily again.

We're very nearly in the same boat! 30 months after depositing $1k on my Tesla I took delivery of my red M3P in September 2018 - during that brief window when free lifetime Supercharging was offered as an incentive to upgrade to the Performance trim. Which means 97% of my miles driven have been Supercharged for free, and a battery capacity that's declined 11%. Even with 126k miles in the rearview mirror it still conjures today the same driving delights as when I first got behind the wheel. Maybe it's because of the 3.1 seconds 0-60 Performance speed, maybe it's tapping into the always available on-demand rollercoaster, but my lifetime Wh/mile are 330. Best car I ever bought. Maybe the last car I'll ever need!

I love waking up every morning having a full tank/battery to go where i need to go ... not having to think about gas prices (I really really hate OPEC)... not having to worry about motor oil ... less brake dust (almost none that I've seen) ... leaving my dog in the car with Dog Mode ... love the recording dash cams ... remotly monitering it and controlling it ... and, being able to sleep in my car while in Camp Mode (it's fun). I have a 2022 Model Y Performance, so it's also super quick. I still have an Audi SQ5, but i hardly drive ot anymore.

I also have a 2018 Model 3. Tesla Mobile came to my house recently to replace the rear wiring harness that is a recall item on older vehicles. Almost all of the maintenance that I have needed has been done with mobile service even though I'm only about 4 miles from the service center. My key card cracked and stopped working and my other card wasn't programmed for the car so Tesla mobile came to my house and gave me a new card and reprogramed both cards for the car using their laptop. They only charged my $23.25 total; $15 for the new card plus $8.25 for programming. My daughter had to pay over a $100 to get a second key for her Honda at the Stealership.

People are concerned about range because that’s all Tesla owners make videos about. As an average guy, I don’t worry about range. I fill my tank and go. So with a Tesla - owners need to make videos on the benefits not the range anxiety. Good video. Give an update when you hit 150k.

Very useful video. I've been driving minimal annual miles in my Miata for the past 11 years (my 4th sports car), but have been seriously considering a model Y for my 80th birthday, coming up in less than two years. The Miata is not a practical car but it is great fun. If I had a lot more money I might buy the Roadster. Ideally, I'd like an electric Miata: something fun, not a super-go-faster, at a more reasonable price point. Your personal take on the Tesla ownership experience added color to my own impressions formed without first hand experience. Next time there's an opportunity to rent a Tesla, I want to do that. Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts. Very well done.
