  • It was the first official visit that Victoria made after the death of her beloved husband Prince Albert, and Tim discovers in her diary that, despite the passage of six years, she still felt Albert's loss keenly. She wrote in her account that the 'feeling of loneliness when I saw no room for my darling, and felt I was indeed alone and a widow, overcame me very sadly! I thought so much of all dearest Albert would have done and said, and how he would have wandered about everywhere, admired everything, looked at everything - and now! Oh! Must it ever, ever be so?'
Appropriately for a castle resting on the river Tweed, Rosemary and food historian and chef Ivan Day prepare a special royal dish, salmon à la chambord. Created by chef Antonin Carême, often considered to be the first celebrity chef, it is an elaborate dish of poached salmon garnished with sole, truffles and crayfish.

Poor dear Rosemary now a widow who also lost her Mum - husband and Mum within weeks of each other! 😭 oh my heart! I can’t imagine! My mum died in May of 2019. My fiancé and I have been separated since March 2020 by the US/Canada border closure. Both of us in our early 50’s - such precious time lost. So sad!

Even though I was divorced from my husband, I still loved him and when he passed away, I still couldn't date for another 4 years. Our children miss him dearly. I never remarried and after I turned 50 I still think of him and I havent Found anyone interesting enough to date again. I can definitely understand Queen Victoria and how lonely and depressed she felt. At last, I believe that they are together in the afterlife. No love that big could be left as your legacy still moves on.

Grieving, true grieving, is a banner of love.
Modern man has often lost the ability to love very, very deeply, so doesn't understand the grieving of those past.
She didn't seem to hurt herself, or those she loved with her grieving, and did in time move into her life, in a way that wasn't held in deep grieving.
Jesus said, "Blessed are those who grieve, for they shall be comforted."
All the sweeter, when we see those we deeply, deeply love in heaven!
Song of Songs 8:7 KJV - Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

@@kathleennorton6108 on the contrary, Vic hurt a lot of people, first being her son Bertie who she unfairly.blamed.fpr Albert's death, and really only reconciled with when he came near to death from illness himself. Second was John Brown, who she put into the role of an Albert surrogate without the benefits of actually being her husband meaning he was the object of gossip and bullying from her other servants and the public, and the monarchy was brought into disrepute. Third were.hee daughters, who.she forced one after the other into the role essentially of her nanny and secretary, hindering their ability to have lives of their own. Fourth was her government which needed a compos monarch to function effectively and was slowed down by her basicaly abdicating her duties for several years.
