- The Irwin Sailboat DIY Restoration Project Week 38 Episode 62 is a very exciting step in the right direction of repairing, restoring, replacing, renewing, recycling, and reimagining our 1979 sailboat! We paint the deck with Interlux Brightside Polyurethane Paint! We sanded and sprayed and faired and sanded and sprayed some more!!! Oh yeah…….and we masked it all off a couple more times too! Hard work paying off!!
Lucky you... the 38 is a good performer and comfy without sacrificing safety. Hurry up...
Thank you. We do feel blessed. Not 100% sure what you mean by “38”. We have seen some really nice vessels in the 30’ to 40’ ranges. This Irwin is a 52’.
nice , looks 100 times better with a lick of top coat.. keep up the great progress team

Man that thing is started to look sweet. I really cant wait to see the foam on deck. We really considered doing it, havent seen many sailboats with it. We'll have to come see you guys soon!
Absolutely! I am very intimidated by the install on the EVA Foam. I already lack confidence in 99% of the things we are doing here but that particular project just seems super challenging. I have literally been dreaming about different ways to keep it straight!! 😂 😅
@@theazimuthadventure2138 Eh, you know it'll be fine! Let me know when you're gonna try to tackle it.
You got it! Thanks Ryan!
Well done Amber 👏
Thank you! 👍

What a transformation looks a new boat well done also showing your son how to spray was awesome
Thank you! He is excited about the next step too! He can’t wait to paint the outer hull and bottom!!
Looks like new!
Undertaking a smaller, though older refit and wondering what spray set up you used.
64oz Pneumatic Spray Gun with an 8 gallon/150psi/1.5hp compressor. We have an in line water separator and an in line spray gun filter. The whole set up, including paint gun, compressor, hoses, fittings and filters, all new out of the box cost just under $200.
What paint sprayer are you using? We are about to paint ours and I'd love to know which one you used
We used a 64oz Central Pneumatic Spray Gun Kit we picked up on sale and hooked it up to a 8gal 150 max psi McGraw compressor.
Hope this helps!
Well y’all coming back?
We are all okay. We are developing a piece of property and it has taken all our time. We miss the boat and are hoping to be back at it any day!
