Alex a real experienced welder will say it’s fine. Weld can be stronger than material used penetration is important easiest welds are when both items are same thickness. Clean material makes it easier. You going to enjoy it when you get the hang of it. Your welding pattern will get prettier as you do more. Safety always stay safe.
👍 To Alex
Love ya tio but you will never be the welder that turvi is
One can only hope
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tio Alex might be able to be #1 since turvi has the #2 tattoo👀🤣
LMAO ya for sure. Lets hope he does not burn the garage down.
Welds look good, nice and deep, like Mustang lifestyle mom likes.
Not bad welds all things considered. I had the same flux core welder and it'll do 90% of what most home gamers need. If you're trying to keep the BB's down there are few easy tips to help.
1. Make sure you have enough wire stickout from the nozzle when flux core welding 5/8" is a good spot to start and then experiment from there.
2. Clean your work from mill scale/paint/oils
3. Anti spatter spray, most welding stores have it and a light misting will make most bb's fall off after welding.
4. Weld settings this is what helped my welds the most. Too much voltage and it'll spit bb's everywhere, I would turn down my voltage down 1 letter and wire speed up 1 number and that would usually get me on the money. It should sound consistent like frying bacon, if it smells like it you're on fire...
Im glad Turvi's welding has inspired you to do the same 😂
You should have collaborated with Turvi on the welding - he could have really put some shine on the fairmont!!
Turvi is thinking finally I can talk some sh**😂
Then his stick welds enter the chat
The mig welds got something to say but they just couldn't penetrate through enough to shake stick weld's focus 😜
good for you Alex...you will get the hang of it after awhile.
You can tell if the welds hold if you tap with a hammer. Gently tap. If it pops off, bad weld. If it takes a few whacks and the sheet metal bends before the weld does, then you're good to go
Hey Alex, I went through the same process buying the same welder working on my fox. A wire wheel helped with cleaning off splatter but keeping the bead nice and clean. Great video!
Lmfao I really gotta wait till the videos over before posting, saw you used the wheel!
Your worst weld looks better than turvis best! On the gap in the motor plate bracket, that's perfectly acceptable with wire welding. If Ryan is going to TIG it, he might want it tighter but I bet he is fine with it. Keep up the great Alex!
That gap is fine alex don't stress it on pipe I prefer to have a little gap with plate been welding pipe for 10+ years
The thing about flux core is that it burns hot just keep your eye on the puddle but not bad
Good plan 👌
Awesome content Alex 👍
Hell yea you motivating me to pick up a new skill. I need to learn to weld!
Turbos by the fenders right behind the headlights isn't a bad move.
Sick
Those welds are more than strong enough. I could make the case you didnt even need to run full beads. I wouldn't be worried.
square the k member to the rear end to make sure car tracks straight. Just built gen3 10r80 car and i feel your pain lol haha keep it going bro love the vidoes and amazing info on coyote's
The 6r trans mounts can be used for a driveshaft loop possibly..
your wild to do this shit in the summer in FL lol.
Car looks syc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m going to Start to look like turvi 😂😂😂
Consider small twin 66 t4s and they fit perfectly under each fender tube.. The hotside off the holley headers end up like 1.5ft of exhaust on each side.. Don't have to route a hot crossover through engine bay like a single.. Just a thought for ya..
Yes it might end up being ty based on the room
Tip for future Alex doing Fab work if you have to make a tab that goes around a tube get yourself a hole saw kit. Cut the hole, then cut the plate in half
For flux core, your welds look great 💪🏻
Yes the 2nd mount was with a hole saw.... night and day difference
If it holds it works. Send it
Suspension looks beefy 😮
Welding is like playing guitar; it looks easy. You must play badly for a while to play well later. Practice is the only way to improve.
The weld sounded good on camera. The first weld you showed had a lot of spatter
Usually too much voltage not enough wire speed when you see the bb’s next to your weld
Make sure the fan is not hitting where you're welding. If it is try and block it and it will result in better welds. The flux is supposed to block the outside air but with a wire that thin it truly won't block the fan or a string enough breeze
100 % get rid of the fan 👍
Yup. He should turn off fan when welding and then he can just turn it back on afterwards. Wind is not your friend when welding.
The good thing is that you don't have to worry about false knock on this build. Carb coyote benefits
Yep. Old school and read plugs.
That welder is all you need and the welds looked good for what you’re trying to do. I know a lot of armchair quarterbacks are going to talk shit, but you already know that.
I'm impressed not by the skill that's a given but by the effort to be safe and wear the ppe.
Alex stacking dimes lol
Smothering pennies
Hey bicho do you think one of these would be good enough to weld up some of the swiss cheese holes on my strut towers on my foxbody?
Turvi would be proud 😂😂😂
turvi is making a manifold right now. turvi racing ftw
Can you move the radiator to the front of its bracket?
I think gas would clean it up a bit
Move the radiator and build the turbo kit then figure out the cooling system
Great work, Alex! Your content is fantastic. CWI and former pipe / pressure vessel welder, I suggest preheating the area with a torch to eliminate moisture, precleaning the area to remove contaminents, turn off fans or sources of airflow, and in this direct case spatter is typically caused by to high amps or too low voltage. To correct either lower the amperage by decreasing the wire feed speed or increase the voltage. Hugh money is looking awesome! Keep up the great work! I look forward to all the progress you make on the regular. Like button smashed.
A grinder and paint makes us the welders we aint! Seriously though, Flux core is the worst place to start. Make sure you're set up ground positive for flux.
And the Dolo Amry marches on.
Good morning good morning
Maybe run the radiator in front of the tubes instead of behind give you around 2 1/2inches of clearance
Move the rad forward and maximize space by putting it on an angle. Top side are forward as possible and the lower end closer to the motor. Seen many many do it this way.
Unless you're adding a big A2A cooler then forget i said anything.
Lolol
The intercooler and radiator already have been mounted.
Did I hear you say Holly 😜
Good morning good morning tio
You get better penetration and fill if you weld uphill
you forgot the acetone lol...just don't burn the garage down lol.
It was degreased properly before welding.
I know absolutely nothing about welding other than it should look like dimes laying on top of each other.
Some of your welds look pretty good.
It’s fun learning with Tio. Thanks Alex.
Nothing wrong with a lil gap when welding
Cursive e is what works best for me
Same. Except mine are more like an upper case G and then I drag the puddle
What was the total drop on your K-Member spacers Alex?
1"
Flores Fabrication
Gotta get that Hobart stick welder.
Min 19:10 . That other metal is aluminum . Guy you can’t use that type of wire on it lol . But nice try . You will get the hang of it . Doesn’t take long to catch on . Your welds looked nice . Cleaning it up with the grinder is nothing . It means you take pride in your work .
It's magnetic. Lol. Not aluminum. It had some odd coating that made it not weld friendly
If your going carb do you really need an intercooler and my not mount the turbo in the grill.
Yes...always better to intercool than not to.
On the grill???
Lol where would the radiator and intercooler go? Hahaha
People on your favorite mustang forum are big mad about you calling out idiots for lying on Lund's name
Good. Dude got caught lying live. Lol
A Fairmont without an LS?? How dare you!
Get rid of the fan , it’s blowing the flux away, which stops oxygen getting to your weld
We got no sound. Alex!!!
Turn your volume up LMAO
Had to refresh youtube and now we have sound
I know you don’t want to hear this in the heat but if you keep that fan away from the weld you’ll get less spatter. You’re blowing away your “shield”
This is flux core wire my dude spatter is built in
@@robostyle9773 Yeah that's why I said "less" I've run a mile or two of flux core lol
Put the turbo over the nose, in front of the radiator
Go with a smaller rad!
RACECAR SHIT
Lmao where, does, the, radiator, go? Lol. Up my ass? The only turbo setups that are in front of the nose have the radiator off to the side or angled...Its dumb.
flux core turbo kit fuck it
I built a car this custom once. Frankly, you either need an endless supply of money to burn, or advanced know how and advanced fabrication skills to build this. Otherwise, yr in over yr head.
Sup tio 🫡
If you’re gonna compare yourself to turvi you have to do those tacs upside down with safety squints on. Don’t make him bring bukkake or whatever its name is out and show you a real race car.
But honestly glad to see more content, hopefully you get the turbo figured out and everything goes as smooth as possible
Looks like pigeon shit but I’m sure it’ll hold lol
Hahaha yep. At this point. If she holds. It's mint.
