Beautiful Lilly, I actually got to see Herman’s Hermits about eight years ago, and really about 1986 when they opened for The Monkees at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles

Peter Noone is in his mid 70's now, but he made some great songs with Hermans Hermits, I particularly like one called Something's Happening.

My parents never explained music to me growing up. I liked what I liked! So my Mom would play music from the am radio in the late 60 an early 70s. I grew up listening to this music. But when I asked about the Beatles and British Invasion music. I asked why they didn't listen to this music. My Mom (Hispanic) told me that that most of the British Invasion music ripped off R&B music. Then I listened to the British Invasion music in the early 70's and found that they were inspired by R&B music.
All the British Bands loved R&B !

I agree, in fact a lot of the British bands of the 60's were influenced by what was coming out of America. I suppose they gave it a bit of a twist and we're lucky that it was at a time when American audiences were crying out for something different. I don't think anyone can deny though that when it comes to music groups, the British have excelled. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Queen, Dire Straits, The Bee Gees, Led Zeppelin, The Who, I could go on and on and on, I've just scratched the surface with the ones I've named.

I keep looking for a clue if she likes it. Not even cracking a little smile. Ok finally. You go girl.

She tends to concentrate quite a lot when she's hearing a song for the first time, but I have an old i phone with all the songs she's reacted to on it, and I let her choose the music when we go out in the van. She particularly likes Mama wear all crazee now by Slade, but a lot of the songs I've shown her get a play, things like Bad Moon Rising, Will you still love me tomorrow and a lot of others. If you want to see what she thinks of the songs I've shown her, look at her Christmas quiz from last year.

Hi, hey play wooden Heart by Elvis, for Lilly from the movie G.I. Blues

The lead vocalist was Peter Noone, who would have been only 17 in 1964, singing about one-night stands! LOL!
Regarding Herman's Hermits, try Lily with _Mrs. Brown, you've to a luv'ly daughter._
Another part for the British Invasion of America you may like to play for Lily was _A Summer Song_ by _Chad and Jeremy,_ also from 1964.
It's one of my favorites from that era just before my time.
    Here's a live version czcams.com/video/vfvL2oLeBYs/video.html.
But a better HQ-sounding version is here: czcams.com/video/VvD0_aeAf2E/video.html

@Blakes Liberator Don't know where you get the lyrics are about a "one-night stand." Teens are at a dance. The "night" involved is clearly the hours out at the dance, and the whole feel of the song is about his delight that the girl found him cute, and was bold enough to ask him to dance, then she dances with no one but him. Something tells him it's a sign of a promising relationship. She likes him and he likes her. Something good.

Interesting about Chad and Jeremy. I've never heard of them, and though they were from Britain, they are almost unknown on this side of the pond. I looked them up and it seems that although they did ok in the USA, in Britain they had one minor hit called Yesterday's gone, that peaked at number 37 on the UK charts. I listened to both songs, and while I thought I had a faint memory of Yesterday's Gone, a Summer Song was completely new to me, I've never heard it before in my life.

Please try Lily with _Softly Whispering I Love You_ by _David and Jonathon,_ otherwise known as Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook.
I don't know if this was part of the British Invasion, but it came out around 1967.
I discovered this version in 1993, up till then only knowing of Paul Young's 1990 version.
It turns out that it was both Greenaway and Cook who originally wrote and recorded this song.
Can't find a live version, but this is HQ czcams.com/video/O1Ih1djJVXQ/video.html

As soon as I saw the name of the song, I knew that I knew it, so I followed your link and discovered that that wasn't the version that I know, even though it is the original version. I discovered that the version I know was by The Congregation. but I agree, it's a nice song. czcams.com/video/pt2PnfdqzTg/video.html
