  • An advance team of Kenyan police have arrived in the troubled Caribbean nation of Haiti, as part of a "UN-backed initiative" largely financed by Washington. This week on the program, we look at some of Haiti's troubled political history, the reasons behind Kenya's involvement in the mission and why it has faced such fierce pushback.

Faith Odhiambo Saying that the Kenyan police is not trained for such missions is quite laughable. She should do her research well about the Kenyan police. She should know that this is not just the normal police she encounters everyday. But this is a special unit drawn from the elite forces within the police. From the recee, SOG & ASTU.

Dr. Los Angeles and Dr London, very rich from both of you to sit abroad and complain about attempts to solve a crisis. You both offer zero practical solutions, constantly point to the past... Haiti is under occupation crap, as if Haiti is the only country in the Caribbean that colonial powers would like to suppress. Dominican Republic is not in crisis, Trinidad is not, Jamaica is not.... You want to impress me, go on the ground with practical solutions. For now, until kids can go to school without bullets whizzing by, mothers can go do a hard day's work to feed them, Haitians are not crossing the Darian Gap, I am 100% in favor of this intervention. You all keep sipping wine while those on the ground that I'm in touch with everyday are sharing their pain.

The Kenyan mission to Haiti is a means for Haiti’s transitional government to give Haitians the time to work and build for themselves a working system of civil servants that are locally sourced.
As Dr. Pierre indicates, there should rightfully be some sort of outrage knowing that such a group was funded by the US. However, I would counter her points and the groups dialogue with a few questions.
How else should Haitians go about constructing a system by which to govern themselves?
There has been talk that after the Kenyan troops, Haiti will also receive aid from troops from Benin, Jamaica, South Africa, etc… this seems like a Pan African military response to a growing problem, would this mean the funders have the right intentions?
In light of the problem, Cherizier has called for a means to peaceful dialogue amidst the deployment of these troops, could this be the “first step” that is needed for Haitians to work towards the bigger picture of their nationality?
    Thanks 🤝🏾🙏🏾

One more thing Mrs Pierre is that I don't know how much you know about Cuba but a cook there only earns $30 a month, that is very very cruel if you think about all the mopping, prepping, cooking over hot ovens and stress that goes with the job!.. So there is anger by citizens and something tells me that they are not very eager to cooperate with government that want to use them.. so perhaps you can come up with a defense force from another country and suggest to the Cuban government to give these employees a good living wage before asking more from them? Haiti has been left alone but you can see how that has turned out.. They need inspiration from other countries and be able to organize themselves within their neighborhoods.

Haiti simply cannot solve its own problems. They all are quick to say leave us alone but thats exactly what other countries have done and now Barbecue and the others now have 80% of the capital. I would ĺike to see this mission canceled. Just don't tell us what's happening their after it's cancellation

Don't ever talk about Haiti again, you don't know nothing about Haiti, ok.
It's 3 weeks, what your kenyan's police does? Nothing, they stay hiding in the safest part of the country, taking photos and videos, nothing more.
Every country has is own insecurity, people dying every day in every in the US, Canada etc.
Mass shooting every day in these 1st world country.
Haiti has no military, only 12 thousands police member for 12 millions people.
