Prairie Home Companion was out Saturday night date Starting in 1975 until the very last episode. It was hand holding, laughing together, singing along and having a take out chicken dinner for the night. When my son was born he was brought up on PHC. We visited the live performance in Asbury Park NJ. At the Great Auditorium, NYC Town Hall and one other place.
When the new host came on it was a disaster. Then Wait Wait don’t tell me filling up the spot. Paula Poundstone was the keeper. Then the program featuring musical talent for school age and college artists.
We read PHC books and saw the one movie. That was a treasured time in our lives. Bravo 👏🏻 PHC

This is how you honor American Veterans and their sacrifices, not an ego-stroking parade. Leading thousands of people in The Battle Hymn of the Republic unified as one is the spirit of America, not pomp and circumstance. This performance only makes me that much more proud to be a Minnesotan, though Keillor is a bit too sober to be an Iron Ranger ;)
