Plus the fact they seem to think everybody enjoys music the exact same amount like if Melon gave Lil Pump a 7 and also gave The Money Store a 10, is it not obvious that he enjoyed The Money Store a bit more than Lil Pump?
Death Grips are overrated as f imo.
@@smackthatfemale it’s fine to not enjoy Death Grips but at least have a valid reason unlike the guy in the video
@@R-H-B They're just like not that good. It's just cryptic lyrics shouted over glitchy instrumentals. Idk what Death Grips offers that somebody like Peggy doesn't do better in literally every way
@@someguy4046 it’s not all glitchy instrumentals and cryptic lyrics dude. As a DG fan, the thing that I think sets them apart from other experimental rap groups is I think they add abrasiveness really well without making it hard to listen to. The lyrics are very poetic and that endears me to a lot of songs too. A lot of the instrumentals are more like hard and industrial beats rather than glitchy ones. They’ve used glitchy beats but its not like they do it that often either
I don't care that Dark side of the Moon is so popular, I love it, 'any color you like' is an awesome instrumental. Guess what, Pink Floyd have a handful of really popular records besides Dark side, pretty soon people will start saying 'Meddle' is overrated.
Oh yes! Meddle and Obscurred By Clouds are like warm-up albums for TDSOTM.
Funny that I actually don’t listen to TDSOTM a lot ... don’t even know why. Not that it’s not good. Guess other albums bring me more emotions. I actually listen to Meddle more.

While I agree with the take on Dark of The Moon not being as musically complex as their later albums with Roger Waters, I wholly disagree with the album being considered “overrated”
I think a better take on the album is when I heard a dude say *Dark Side of The Moon is arguably the greatest album of all time but not the greatest Pink Floyd album* and it somehow makes so much sense to me.
At the same time, it IS their best album. There's nothing else like it.
Definitely funnels back into the "If it's accessible, is it good?" argument that circles around art.
I believe Dark Side of the Moon is great BECAUSE it is accessible: it works as an elegant primer into prog that is not initially palatable.
There is a culmination to their work where you can start feeling its ruminations within Meddle, and then it continues with WYWH, Animals, and The Wall.
I like to think of Dark Side as the entrance to the Roman Coliseum: yes, it's grand, but the space opens up in ways you can scarcely imagine.

Even though my favorite PF albm is Animals, then The Wall, then Dark Side, it still never fails to affect me emotionally every single time I listen to it from start to end, it puts me in a different place.
A lot of people tend to think that because an album is so popular, it has to be overrated, this doesn't count with dsotm because it's a near perfect album
I mean sure, it's a little bit homogenous, musically speaking, and I definitely think WYWH and Animals are better, but it's not an overrated album by any stretch.

You could listen to it 20, 30 years in the future and still have goosebumps in Great Gig, or On The Run. It's a timeless album, and beside of that, it's musically a masterpiece as well, full of emotion, passion, heart and soul. Ignoring what I said before and focusing on each songs, Torry's voice performance in Great Gig, that guitar solo in Time that was made in the first try and improvised, the emergency of On The Run, or the loneliness and soul of Us and Them. The reason why I think blonde is one of the best albums of our generation is because of the way frank introduces his emotions. For its time the style of prediction and use of effects was very unique for the major art world. The way the songs sound and the almost liquid texture I believe really capture what it feels like to be In a period of existential dread. I am also a fan of the points and slight references he makes on the album. He talks about relationships struggles, drug addiction, technology addiction, loneliness and isolation, the fear of losing people and learning to let go, I also have the feeling that he was inspired by 2pacs message about helping others and making sure that everyone has a fighting chance. At the end of the album frank talks about trying to let go of all his worries because he realizes that he can’t fix everything. “ I’m just a guy not a god “
Dude that Chris Rock feature was the best part of MBDTF clearly yeezy didnt taught you.
After listening to that album 20+ times I can say for a fact it is not the best part
Mario i skip the skit every time, the skit made blame game mu least favorite track on that album
I genuinely find that skit really funny and iconic.
not necessarily the best, but truly made it more relatable. many have a chris rock they, at one time, resented.
Best part has to be the black balls part of Gorgeous.
Melon what should I think about JIK my friends have been asking and I don’t know how to respond help
HahHHahahhaahHHa
Review Jesus is king so I can have an opinion on it already, Anthony
think for yourself jeez...
sos s first time around these parts or is it just hard for you to spot satire?
I dont see how MDBTF having a lot of features would be a bad thing, it doesnt make it any less listenable

"No one cares that you put math in your music."
*Bygones intensifies*
I don’t get the guys argument about Tool. Tool never tried to push the whole Fibonacci thing in your face. The fans are the ones that pushed it in your face. I’m a huge Tool fan and even I didn’t really care about the whole math thing and that was never really the point of Tool.
i feel like maynard finds it funny how deep some of the fans read into the music, similar to the king gizzard fanbase. Also lateralus sounds fucking incredible i feel like that guy has mostly just read about tool on reddit rather than actually listening to the music himself
Lateralus and Aenima are masterpieces.
Undertow and Opiate are too, more visceral tho.
Lateralus and Aenima are better. More math is always better.
Whisky Warlord undertow is the worst album other than that new pile of garbage
@@dalekay9ine just because you say it? Fuck you hating piece of shit

Trout Mask Replica was so fucking infinitely important in so many ways. Thank fuck for the Magic band, Captain Beefheart, and Frank Zappa.
"The Chris Rock feature was useless", this tells me everything I need to know about Melon.
yup
Imagine being this moronic
Can someone explain the point of it though? I just went back and listened and I'm confused, it seems like a jarring detour for the song

@@just4commentsable everything philosophically in and of itself is arithmetic at the least
Just depends on how you label things and how much one's personally psychology ignores the quantity aspect (or just doesn't verbalize it explicitly) of whatever they're experiencing
That Metallica take isn’t a hot take. That’s the general consensus that the Black album was their last good one for a very long time and was a step down in terms of technical ability from literally everything before.
MBDTF’s features are some of the best verses of all time
The Money Store is actually the catchiest Death Grips record, strange that people pick on that one.
Idk, No Love is super catchy, but I agree, you could complain about some of their other releases a lot more.
I’m no death grips fan but that’s the one I hear about the most so of course it’s going to have people pick on it
Ex military is more Catchy for me tbh, or at least more accessible on first listen
@@shady8045 Yeah I get what you mean. There's a lot more of a punky vibe to that mixtape and as most people get the idea of what punk rock is, it's a lot more easily digestible, as heavy as it is. As far as instrumentals are concerned, songs like Beware and I Want It I Need It would almost sound normal if not for the lyrics/charles manson sampling
@@shady8045 how do you guys find it accessible..? it’s kinda too much chaos for me and I’m predominantly into heavy music. The vocals are so ear blasting in the mix. The instrumental is so messy. Their first commercial album still holds these characteristics but not as harsh.

the dark side of the moon to me is 2, 5 part songs that tell a story in a really cool psychedelic way that still holds up today and that alone is worthy of being one of the best albums of all time

I love it. But it's not even my favorite pf album.
what does that stand for
BLOND is a dark-night-of-the-soul record and it requires something from the listener. It's the best album i've heard in 10 yrs and takes me to places no other record has.
I like BLOND but it didn't hit me like that. I think it fits in the same place as Channel Orange in songs I liked from it.
This
I’ve been waiting for this album to take me somewhere but it never has and I think it’s because I listen to other Rn’B. I tried to like it since I like Rn’B but it really just for me is an ok album.
Just curious, how much music do have you listenened to, both in amount and variety?
I like Blonde, but I really struggle to understand how so many see it as "top 3 of the decade" material or some transcendent work of art. Top 50 of the decade sure, my rating is pretty much in line with Fantano's.
Blond is amazing until you realize that there is actually a shit ton of filler between Nikes and Nights and everything after that is absolute wash. Futura Free is pretty good, kinda haunting now that his brother passed away
I think that just bc an album or piece of music was revolutionary but isn’t now doesn’t mean it’s overrated. For example; Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring isn’t as revolutionary as it was (there’s been a piece written specifically for each member of a string quartet to be in a different separate helicopter or smth), but is nevertheless respected and enjoyed for its status. It’s also just really fucking good
Also just Beethoven
In 1974, I went to a record store for the very first time by myself. The records I purchased were, King Crimson's in the court of the crimson king and lark's tounges in aspic, Isao Tomita's the bermuda triangle, Captain Beefheart's trout mask replica, the first Velvet Underground album, Tangerine Dream's zeit, and Klause Schulze cyborg topped off with the first Pink Floyd album and meddle finishing up with Kraftwerk's radioactivity. Don't ask me where I got such an eclectic taste in music for a 14 year old.
Quite a lineup you got there
@@dragosandronic8003 Thanks and the really crazy part is that the bill for those 10 records was 64 dollars and some change. Today 10 newly released CD's would be almost 200 dollars.

His MBTF and Mac Miller reviews are my biggest points where I straight up just feel like he’s trying to hate things that are well received

grape conqs I don’t even love it that much, there’s Kanye records I like more than MBDTF but to give it a 6 and still stick by it is just absurd. there’s no way that album is a 6 lmao.
Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Shine on you crazy diamond, Animals, The Wall are equally fascinating to me. No better than the other, they are different moods but you still get that Pink Floyd goodness through all of them.

Siamese Dream was way better than Mellon Collie, however, it was still a damn great album. The Smashing Pumpkins just couldn’t write a bad song from 1991 to 1998
I saw this while looking up Mellon Collie and readied my pitchforks, only to put them down in relief when he defended it. And then he talked about dark side of the moon
