The point of the criminal justice system in America is everyone is entitled to a fair trial and the best possible defense. This is based on the constitutional right to legal representation and due process, which ensures that every person, regardless of the crime they are accused of, has the right to be defended by an attorney.

just because it is constitutional doesn't make it morally right. say I'm a defense attorney and I know for a FACT my client is guilty of murder and rape. defending him it that case doesn't make me a moral person, in fact it makes me the opposite. similarly calling a random person in the street a slur is well within my constitutional right, but it's probably not ok to do. I think this is most peoples quarrel with the whole thing is. of course if u have a low conviction for ur clients innocence, then most people are probably ok with that

There are a lot of false convictions that happens all the time, so the system is not perfect for the innocents and the truly guilty. But the solution is not that if you think someone is truly guilty no one should even try to defend him, it is the duty of a lawyer to represent a client, yes even when they think it's guilty, and purposefully sabotaging a case like that will also have an effect on your reputation as a lawyer and is very unethical in the profession. You will not have as much clients especially if you are very very picky about the case you want to take, history of purposefully losing a case, and not doing your best.

It makes sense for people to be hesitant about Defense Laywers who release alleged criminals, but I would hope that everyone no matter who they are gets the best defense a lawyer could give them and that the justice system is good enough to determine who's guilty. And from another perspective, prosecuters are financially motivated to put as many people in jail as possible, how many of those don't care how flimsy the evidence is or if the defendant is actually guilty? And how many people have been wrongfully put in jail just because they didnt have a defense lawyer like Jayoma who would take their case because of how bad it looks whether it be theft, rape, murder etc. even if the evidence wasn't great?

And instead of you cooking it, a dude comes in, moves your limbs for you, cooks the meat for you, help you eat the meat etc. You can say "The restaurant feed me" yes because you did get the meat from the restaurant. But you can also say "The dude helped me get fed". If not for the dude, you would be hungry right now.
Also, what about the cases were the dude is clearly a criminal? Like laws 100% say dude should go to jail. But sometimes lawyers can turn that sentence into nothing because of some weirdass loophole?
