- Handgun Training Tip That Will 100% Increase your Accuracy.
Proper Trigger Gap Will Increase your Accuracy.
Hi guys, John the Firearms Instructor here to talk to you about shooting with a trigger gap.
There are many different things to think about while shooting and some of them are easier to notice than others. When I teach my classes, a lot of my students struggle with hand placement and using the right amount of pressure. When you hold a pistol, if you're doing it correctly, your dominant hand should have three fingers directly in contact with the firearm with your trigger finger out. Your non-dominant hand should have all four fingers gripping the weapon. The uneven number of fingers on the gun is the reason the grip I train my students with is a slightly uneven one. This makes it easier to hold the gun level. The ratio I use is a 60% - 40% grip, the dominant hand is holding the gun with 40% of the pressure, and the off hand is using 60% of the pressure. If you do this properly it will make holding the gun level significantly easier.

Wow. This tip alone might just correct a problem I had at my last trip to the range.
Glad it helped
Mine as well, I kept pulling to the left
That's my issue right now.. I'm a right pulling left! Thanks for the tip.
Same
I’m a lefty and was shooting low right. I figured this out on my own and noticed immediately I was more accurate. I was looking for a video to prove my hypothesis, thank you sir!
I found that technique works well with most semi-autos I own. However, I do carry a Ruger SP101 with a 10 pound hammer spring and trigger return spring. I mostly practice shooting double action and I need a bit more leverage on the trigger. I feel like I’ve mastered a technique that works well for me. I shoot my 3” Python the same way with really good results.
Thank you for the technique
Enjoy I hope it improve your accuracy
I do this naturally never knew it was a trick just felt more natural that way and easy to shoot
That’s Great News thanks for comment
I will try that next trip.
I shot right low with most of my hand guns
Thank you! Just bought my first pistol last week and I've been struggling with my accuracy and I know it's all in my triggering. This helps a ton!

I have arthritis in me trigger finger. I use my middle finger. I’m more accurate like that as well. I have large hands. Idk but it works for me.

I am shooting down left a lot, will try this
thanks i'll try that
Im gonna have to try this. Just had a pretty bad day at the range and im kinda bummed. I thought i was a better shot.
Start with Grip
Then Trigger Press Not Trigger Pull
Dry the weapon with. You pec muscles Not your biceps
Great Tip, I use the technique but I haven’t heard anyone break it down to its simplest form….Subscribed 🔫
Thanks for the sub!
I try to use the front middle / middle of my finger before the first joint,
no, i haven't tried it. maybe cause I don't have a gun but this seems very helpful to those who have guns.
Thanks For Watching God Bless
fire everyone saying they shoot low and/or left, Please mix in some snap caps next time at the range to identify why
Will try it today
Did it work?
I think it did, best shooting so far... Look out targets!
That gap had my finger stinging messing with that 45, definitely had better grouping though!
A simpler way to put this is to just say "use the pad of your index finger to pull the trigger." If your finger is so deep around the trigger that the first joint or even the middle pad of your finger is on the trigger then you haven't been taught properly.
That is a good way to put it thank you!
ya know, both ways work for me. especially when i use my other hand.
Perfect!
What if I shoot low left with one gun but shoot perfectly with my 3 other guns?
What are the pistol ?
Could be Trigger
Could be Fit of the pistol
Most likely it a little of Both
With out you telling me I’m going to guess
Glock 19 , low and Left
@Firearms Training By John G. Johnson actually it's a Springfield Hellcat. I own 2 of them and they both shoot poorly. My other guns that I shoot are a Walther PPKS, M+P Shield and a Beretta 84. These guns are all single stacks and the Hellcat is double stack so maybe the grip is too big in my hand?
I did but it was comfortable for me and could shoot quicker no clue that it was the cause of pulling left
I glad It Help
willing to learn
Keep Watching
Gonna dry fire like this until I can get to the range
Cool
Can you show it from a side angle I can’t tell what’s going on very well

Wow, thank you!
Because I got small hands 🙌. I had to do trigger manipulation in order to pull the trigger directly back.
In shootings less Trigger Finger is better than to much trigger Finger. Keep Shooting my Friend
@@johnthefirearmsinstructor Yes Sir!!!
I was taught this in basic training you don’t pull the trigger you squeeze it. Pulling literally pulls the gun to whichever hand your dominant.

I tried this but for whatever reason it hurts my finger every time I pull the trigger, any advice?
It could have something to do with where your finger sits on the trigger. Some triggers curve more or less and what you have may not work with your finger. Or you at least haven’t found the spot yet.
Thanks man maybe thats why all of the sudden i couldn't hit anything after a year of not shooting lol
Or maybe I just suck with peep sights on my mini 14, either that or slipping with it when I had it slinger on me threw off its accuracy
Slinged*
No problem
Curious why he did not do a visual of chamber when he ‘cleared’ the firearm
We had been trying to film this for about 20 minutes and he had already cleared it several times so he was breezing past it.
@@johnthefirearmsinstructor understandable, otherwise it was an interesting lesson.
Sounds like a band aid for poor trigger squeeze/gun fit. Of it works for you rock on. I don't use it and my groupsize isn't natural.
Thanks For Commenting
No. No gap. I want as much meat on the grip as I can place. I train into my hand. A loose grip even on an air soft gun. Allows it to shift.
You control the pistol with with Your chest Pecks Not your Hands
Thanks For Commenting
I need ur help
How can i help
Why are you pointing this at me man 😂
Lol
You did not look to see if you had a round chambered after you racked it with the magazine in.
Watch it again magazine out 4 Rack
Of the slide
Good luck doing that on a heavy pull trigger Glock. Once the trigger clicks, your shots jump to the side no matter what.
Do it all the time
😂😂😂😂😂

The majority of the best shooters in the world would disagree.
Try it Them talk Thanks for Commenting
Surely as a firearms expert you should only ever demonstrate with a fake gun !!
