    Why didn't you preload the control arm bushing? That being said my replacement arms came with new inserts.

      Interesting, I believe statistics show these cars are one of the more reliable cars from these years.

    • @Jedi_Luke
      @Jedi_Luke Před 3 lety +3

      Nothing from Ford is considered "reliable". Get a Honda or Toyota then you will learn what reliable really is.

      @@Jedi_Luke Toyota definitely, but my mother-in-law's 2003 Honda Accord 2.4l was burning a quart of oil every 400 miles before it hit 100k miles, similar story with my brother's Acura with same engine. Also, my sister-in-law's MDX seized up on the interstate returning home from a road trip. I see nothing reliable about that. Perhaps the most reliable car I have and have had is my 1987 Mustang LX 5.0.

      Just rolled 220k on my 2.5 Fusion... Doesnt burn a drop of oil... All suspension parts are original.. Original trans and motor. Rack was replaced at zero cost under recall. 1 front wheel bearing and 1 rear replaced, after 170k. Just now replacing the straight control arm. Most cars arent terrible. Most have terrible, cheap owners who neglect and dont maintain them. We get these cars in our shop, and one can tell how poorly theyre taken care of, with food bags, pop bottles, cig ashes, disgusting... I've owned 4 Hondas, and while they are great cars, they are over engineered..and many suffer from oil consumption... Anyone who has owned a VTEC Honda knows the expense at replacing anything related to that system. If you want to compare GM or Chrysler cars in that segment, thats comical. Toyota, while a great car, try buying anything interior related... $400+ master window switches.. just as one example. And if you're a german fan, well, this suspension is an adaption from what manyh VW's have used for years..

      @MJorgy5 Před rokem +1

      My 2006 is one of the best cars I've ever owned. I've owned a bunch of Hondas and a couple Toyotas. I actually test drove Accords and Camrys of the same vintage and ended up buying the Fusion for a handful of reasons. I also use it for courier work and have hit curbs at 30 miles per hour driving in poorly lit parts of town and the alignment stayed true and no rattles. Mediocre fuel mileage and the transmission isn't my favorite, but it keeps running. Tough and comfy cars for what they are. The steering and suspension are impressive for nearly 20 year old machines, also.

    Don't you need the car at ride height before tightening bolts?

    • @brandonamond3124
      @brandonamond3124 Před 4 měsíci

      Yes that's the only thing that was not done so the bushings will wear prematurely

    Do you need to disconnect the steering shaft coupler? Is there risk of damaging anything if I don't?
    Other videos showing you need to do that but heck yea I want to avoid that if I can

    • @markcrew3696
      @markcrew3696 Před 2 lety +1

      I had the same thought that would make it so much easier. I guess you're just not pulling it down far enough to hurt it. I may go ahead and just disconnect mine when I do the job it's not that big of a deal.

    I have a 2006 Mazda 6 3.0l auto in my sub frame is completely rotted out gone. I just bought it driving down the road and the passenger side control alarm cracked it off the sub frame and of course I can’t find it anywhere because Mazda discontinued the sub frames and every garage I’ve called from Maine to California doesn’t have one for an automatic and the ones that did when he went to go take it apart. The whole thing fell ready pot. I called Mazda and they said there’s no recon. I don’t know anyone help me. Can I get one off of a Ford fusion?

  • @Ghbaker1298

    Help! I noticed near the end when you insert the ball joint into the sleeve/knuckle insert that it goes in with ease. I’m currently replacing my lower front control arms and they’re not going into the sleeve!
    Almost like I have to press with a lot of force for them to Nudge at all. After watching a few videos everyone else’s are just slipping in to place.
    Iv tried threading on the bottom nut and tightening it to pull the ball joint in and tried getting a ball joint press on it but there’s not enough room.
    How can I solve this?
